Hello, Here is a new mod for all solo displays fans. The Smokewinder ® built by Sanders Aeronautics became now the standard smoke generator for solo displays, including F-16, MiG-29, Typhoon, Rafale, Gripen, etc... This 3D model replaces BOTH AIM-9S and R-73U in the payload editor. It is compatible with other mods (does not involve MeInit). It includes two level of details. В часности написал программку для теста естественного взаимодействия с виртуальными обьектами в сцене. Четыре кубика которые можно брать в руку ставить друг на дружку, кидать, двигать, толкать и т.п. :) Надеюсь вам понравится:1 point

IMO it is written by a representative of some (I suspect Krasnodar) russian overhaul factory who has been in charge of assembling and maintaining ethiopian Su-27's. According to this article the ethiopian Su-27's have two confirmed and one partialy confirmed kills over eritrean MiG-29's. What is interesting to read is that all of them are made by export R-27R and R-27T missiles. There hasn't been any R-73 launch, what we've read so far. All of the engagements have been 1v2 in favor of the MiG's. The typical scanario includes one Su-27 flying long endurance CAP at high altitude while the MiG-29's have used ambush tactics with two planes with severe altitude separation- one at the same altitude as the Su-27 and one on the deck. The GCI usualy sees the low flyer quiet late thus giving the Su-27 warning too late, or often it has seen it himself by the Beryoza warning. Both the Su-27's and the MiG-29's have used dual missile launch (including R-27T for the Su-27) and despite they've used exactly the same SARH missiles and same high speed-high altitude profiles the Su-27 has had a cruical advantage of 1-2 sec earlier LA which is due to the longer target illumination time limit.1 point

Hello everyone. I have nearly completed my new Russian style aircraft shelter model. BUt im thinking of going a bit bigger with this. There is alot of objects around the airfield that is pretty low poly looking and has bad textures such as Maintenence hangars, Control Towers etc..... So my request tot eh community is pictures of different real life objects. These objects would be... Blastwalls Towers Hangars Airport Fence etc etc...... If you have anything interesting, i can review it and se if i cant make a mod for lock on with some updated objects. Thanks in advance. BW Shaggy1 point

Trouble is I can't get GART drivers working with a ASRock i65G! I bought this MoBo last year 'cause my MSI Neo2 865PE died! i65G was the only s478, DDR400 MoBo I could find here and it's a mATX that reduced my RAM from 4*1Gb to a 2*1Gb! MSI was bought in 2004 when I assembled my rig and lately parts start falling off slowly! Soon to be a digital typewriter, huh!!1 point

I can run ANY Catalyst driver, here is the latest 9.3 running on my HD3850 8xAGP card, everything is fine :thumbup: the only ones who have issues with the latest drivers are the only who blindly use the auto installer....they forget to have the latest GART motherboard drivers installed and instead rely on the super crappy SMARTGART which f**ks up everything :D heres an example: With the 9.3, i manually unpack the driver to a folder, i edit the CX_77617.inf in the 9.3 and enter the command line: "ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9515 after reboot, i direct the "new hardware wizard" to my folder, and it fully detects and sets up my card. This works *every* time for me in every driver set :)1 point

Certainly true, I think for a very big part, sounds make the experience. As I said I'm working on a new sound mod. After figuring out how the Lockon sound system works I also found out how primative this system is. Next to that, the sound system is also full of bugs! :cry: Anyway, I will get the best out of it. After all, it will only be a little improvement over Archer sounds (he already did pretty much everything possible).1 point

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some help reworking some textures for the recent Su-27 mod by 3GO. The 3GO group has already done enough so I hope the community can show some support since my photoshop skills are lousy. Anyway this is what I’ve been thinking: 1.) Some of you guys noticed that in some angles the numbers and star on the plane seem to fade. Like this: And that’s because if you look at the alpha channels for the two files associated with the numbering files: Su-27_NOMERA.tga SU-27-NOMERA-RED.tga (which can be found in the 3GO-su27-tga.cdds file in Bazar\World folder, extract using modman) It’s not very clean, if a person can clean this up to look something like this: (picture taken from Deadman’s nomera file, that would look great on this Su-27) 2.) Afterburners texture I do admit the afterburner textures could be improved. If you used modman and extract these files within 3GO-Su-27.cdds: Su-27-Engine2.bmp Su-27-Engine21.bmp Su-27-Engine23.bmp … Su-27-Engine26.bmp You can see how it transitions, but during the mod work you only need the first file: Su-27-engine2.bmp since it’s the original state and gradually add more afterburner textures. I was hoping it can reflect something that looks like this: Or this from an old mod 3.) В исправленных файлах предлагается только исправления для НАР С-8, Всё остальное остаётся по умолчанию, в дальнейшем можно исправить и для остального оружия.1 point

HOWEVER If you see him first, well........even that Titanium bathtum he's sitting in will be of no consequence - either way he's in for a roasting :D As for balance - and realism notwithstanding - one would sincerely hope that the Hog will be flyable on at least two coalitions, said coalitions capable of being on opposing sides. Insodoing the gameplay issue/balance argument is a non-starter. Anybody from the ED team care to comment on the above? Would be good to have clarity as to whether we will have an A-10 vs A-10 scenario thrown into the mix. Cannot see it happening any other way tbh - IMHO of course!1 point

Oh definitely, and my take on it is really nothing more than barely educated guesses. :P I do find it interesting to try to put myself into the process and try to see the issues, and I find that it usually takes the edge off of most annoyances I end up having with a product or developer. Having some background in the industry helps there ofc (used to freelance as a reviewer). In the end, I really don't envy the guys that have to sit there and try to join customer expectations with what is economically feasible with limited risks. And with where the market is for simulation products, the level of detail that ED is offering us with the DCS series is such that I'll happily accept anything they feel I should fly. Hell, like someone mentioned, a high-fidelity UH-1 or Mi-8 would have me positively extatic too. :P1 point

I would personally prefer an Apache. But thinking about the obstacles met in BS, my vote goes for the A10. When sophisticated ground AI, collideable vegetation, an AI able to handle the second seat, etc. have been integrated into DCS, I would LOVE an Apache, but not with the current engine TBH.1 point

I can make it louder! But not longer!:mad: I did have it over 30 minutes long but the game crashes. 15 minutes didn't crash but for some reason it didn't want to play? So I had to reduce it to 10 minutes.. I made the volume low because it's going to loop every 10 min, So it might get annoying.. I will post a louder one.1 point

I don't think so. You can't send informations to people over 4. I think you have to switch to a chan betwen your recon team leader and the leader from Wolf, who will transmit to theire wingmen, after switching its radio to the wolf chan. I don't think its clear. Team A work on 175.500 Team B work on 175.600 Team A send all information to Team A leader Team A leader switch on 175.800 Team B leader switch on 175.800 Team A leader transmit information to Team B leader Team B leader switch to 175.600 Team B leader transmit information to Team B That exemple is based on 4 KA-50 in each team. Be careful to the geography which can interfer in transmission.1 point

Pitbuilding update 29. march 2009 - Trigger mechanisms launch trigger is finished This has been the single most mind bending task so far.. And I haven't even really begun on the Cannon triggers return spring yet. But as far as I hope, the worst is done on the Cyclic Stick's Trigger Mechanism. And here's how I think it will work..:music_whistling: 1: A switch with a spring cut to correct length with pliers. The switch is attached mainly by the soldering legs that go through the 3mm aluminum backplate (wires and crimp-screen comes later to prevent short circuit) 2: this plate is 0,5mm Aluminum in a 90 degree angle. The plate pivots around the main axle of the triggers. And it's job is to evenly apply the preasure from the return spring (4) to the microswitch (3-Cannon Select ON-OFF) that is mounted underneath. 3: A tiny microswitch that when released will send the keystroke "C" to the simulator. 4: Coil spring that returns the Launch Trigger when it's not in use. Here you see the Microswitch for Select Cannon and the Launch Triggers return spring. Also you can see why I needed a pivoting plate to distribute the force from the spring to the switch. Without the plate the spring moved to much and fell of the switch all the time. (and it looks cooler with the plate too) Seee... MUCH COOLER..! I also put a stoppr for the Launch Trigger on. So it will not return to a position higher than my fingers can grab it..! ... and I have just started on the Cannon Trigger. I used epoxy putty to mold a solid part for the hinge.. More on that later. The plate is springloaded from the return spring. But the load is not high enough to press it. Not before you pull the Launch Trigger down! I'm using a BU0836 Controller Card on the Cyclics buttons. And with SVMapper I can configure it so that when the switch is released, it will send the Key "C" to the Sim. and when it's pressed another key "C" is sendt.. The point where the Launch trigger is activated. .. just another picture.. I also modified the Push Buttons to hold microswitches. They looked the part, but to activate them I had to press them 8-10mm in! And that just will not work.. Here you see basicly the whole modification.. It was quite simple once I found out what I wanted to do.. Just a bit of sandpaper and a pair of pliers, and it was done.. Now they have the right "CLICK" feel to them.. .. but they still look good..!1 point

He might have seen it but he did nothing about it! SA-3 or S-125 missiles leave a smokey trail throughout their flight and if there was moonlight he might have seen it indeed! Trouble is, those missiles usually come in pairs! OK I remember a guy saying F-117A was having trouble when covered with moist, stealth is somewhat compromised! But P-15 Flat Face radar is too weak to register RCS of Nighthawk and tracking is impossible. Later version P-15M is slightly better but Serbia didn't have these! So I still believe this Stealth kill was shot in the dark and pilot took no evasive action to deny a hit. I believe he underestimated his bad luck flying constant heading/alt during egress!1 point
