  1. Right you are. That's because all those sims are built as procedure trainers more than anything. My company wouldn't give a rats ass wether I would enjoy looking at trees swaying in the wind, couples making out in city parks, dogs pissing against bushes (well I could go on, couldn't I? ;) ) and what not. They need a platform to train crews in things they need to be proficient in from a jobs perspective. A consumer product, though, which will be used for entertainment purposes is different and that's why we all keep shouting that we want it all! Great terrain, many details, realistic avionics, you name it. In a way we seem to expect much more from the devs for our home products than companies expect from professional products! Enventhough the stakes are ten times higher. That's a bit unfair towards our devs, isn't it? ;) It's a massive undertaking to create a simulator as detailed as BS is right now and I am more than happy with it! Some people (not pointing a finger to anyone here, just in general) don't seem to realise this and seem to think that adding stuff is just a matter of adding a few lines of code to a program. It doesn't work that way, at least not like that. Instead of a 'OK, now we have this in place, now we want that!' attitude, I just enjoy what we have now and wait patiently what the hardware of the future and the coding the future will bring to us simmers! :)

  2. Скорректированные тесты Сделал "чистую" установку игры под ХР и повторил тесты. В этот раз на другом конфиге - i7 920. Тесты выполнялись 300-секундными прогонами треков "stress_test_views" и "Укрепрайон - вид из кабины". Данные снимались с логов Fraps, в которых 1 раз в секунду фиксируется текущее значение фпс. Каждый трек гонялся с привязкой к 1 и 2 ядрам под ХР, а также к 1, 2 и 4 ядрам под Windows 7. Привязка к ядрам осуществлялась при помощи утилиты DCS Max. Итого 10 прогонов "на все случаи жизни". Надо отметить, что каждый из них выполнялся только 1 раз, поэтому результаты нужно учитывать с некоторой погрешностью, допустим в 3%. При этом, относительные результаты контролируются прогонами в двух разных треках; то есть, эти 2 трека должны "подтверждать" или хотя бы не "противоречить" друг другу в том, как изменяюся фпс. Итак, сначала stress_test_views. Запускаем трек под ХР с привязкой к одному ядру (146), затем к двум (144), разница укладывается в пределы погрешности измерения. Нормально. На четырех ядрах пробовать не будем. Затем запускаем на одном ядре под w7 - и наблюдаем падение фпс на 13% по сравнению с ХР. Достаточно большая разница, чтобы быть заметной невооруженным глазом. Привязываем ко двум ядрам - и фпс вырастает на 23%(!). Вот это уже серьезно. И теперь игра идет быстрей, чем под ХР на 7%. Затем пробуем 4 ядра - и регистрируем отсутствие разницы по сравнению с двумя. Трек "Укрепрайон" подтверждает характер изменений фпс в перечисленных случаях. На одном ядре он идет на 6% медленней, чем под ХР. А при переключении на 2 ядра - на 16% быстрей, чем под ХР. Разница между 1 и 2 ядрами под w7 составляет те же 23%, а между 2 и 4 - так же отсутствует. И на сладкое - разница в производительности Core 2 Duo E8400 @3.6ГГц и i7 920 на той же частоте, под w7 на двух ядрах. Тут можно было бы ожидать примерно одинаковой производительности, а может и превосходства C2D за счет большого и быстрого кэша L2. Однако i7 быстрей на 26% в одном треке, на 13% в другом.

  4. Crunch, Very diplomatically said and I agree with your above statement. I tip my hat to you. Spooky you might investigate virtual joystick programs and such I'm sure there is a way to do it. Good luck but remember if the class is a required course pay a little attention so you can pass it.

  5. Hi, As a battlefield 2 chopper pilot for years, i'd preferred to map mouse axis to heli control than joystick. A notebook and a good mouse is enough to play game in boring class :D In Lockon, i can map those just fine: mouse_x => bank mouse_y => pitch mouse_z => throttle But in Blackshark, when i try the above axis mapping, the control point only move when i move my mouse. It resets to zero when the mouse stop. Moreover, amount of change is very small. Is there anyway to achieve similar axis mapping in BS as it was in lockon? Thanks.

  6. Sorry, I have to comment here. First, sorry Spooky I can not help you with your problem. Secondly, not one response here actually helps Spooky. The guy wants to play on a laptop while not at home. Just a lot of comments on how you should not be using a mouse. Why do you think ED included mouse control and arcade mode in the first place? If we had thousands of people playing BS with a mouse in arcade mode and the rest of us using joysticks in realistic mode we would all be better off! I hope Spooky you can get the mouse setup to work well.

Хороших миссий, не говоря уже про компании, на форуме по пальцем одной руки пересчитать хватит :( А так может для кого ни будь будет лишним стимулом взяться за "перо", а нам (пользователям) на удовольствие.   8. Действительно, посоветовался со своим знакомым, он сказал что если приложения изначально вообще не рассчитывалось на параллельную многоядерную обработку, то и все нити этого приложения будут выполняться последовательно на одной ядре. В общем признаю, был неправ )

  10. On a 19" monitor there's no need to go as high as 16xQ AA at all on a 1280x1080 resolution apart from it being too demanding on the card, like Zorg pointed out. If you need AA try your luck with 2x or 4x first to see wether that gives you the smooth enough edges you want. But beware that AA is often a FPS killer. Also, like Zorg said, find a tool to set the affinity to both cores of your processor as the game doesn't do that automatically at the moment. DCSMAX is an option for this.   11. DCS: Black Shark is more CPU intensive, however both your CPU and GPU will be currently bottlenecking you. I would recommend turning AA off and setting all of your settings to medium-low for playable FPS. Also, have you tried the CPU affinity hack?

  12. Apply affinity tweak found elsewhere on this site to enable both cores. Also try running with no AA or AF (16xQ AA is way too demanding for a 9400GT). That should help.

  13. There was a thread a little while ago about landing speeds and what speed would be the correct speed. I posted 300+ at the time with tongue firmly in cheek as it was obvious what the poster was asking but what the hell. From my own perspective it is actually pretty much the required speed to do things that were never meant to be but are in fact a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy the ride, I did :thumbup:

  14. I said I would not post in this thread anymore, so, first let me apologise for breaking my word. I just felt in the light of things I would like to add a little. First off I have learned a lesson. And thank you Slayer for your insight. I could not have said it better, and, maybe others can learn from this situation. I can tell you it has been over 90 days. I do know a little more about this than some other members. If you look back you will see Urze stated he would stop taking orders, and, only fill those that were paid. That was 2 months ago. Also from what I know from other members in my situation who have stayed in contact with me, there were only several orders to fill. I will also put forth this statement, knowing that I will get my a*s reamed out by Urze's friends. If you were starting a business, and, suddenly found out that because of lack of time, parts, help, funds, etc., why would you keep accepting payments, and also, would you not return money to those who have paid? I know I would! And I would simply state that because of unforseen circumstances, I am unable to fill your order at this time. That did not happen. Hitman is also right in saying that there is not much you can do. At this point I don't expect to get my money back. And as always I do not now, and, never have, wished any ill will against Urze. I'd like to think I can rise above that, and, not let anger 'rule the day'! I thought I had finally put it all behind me. And then one person left a message telling me and others out of money to "chill". Chill? We've been waiting 3 months now! Chill? And then I felt the anger rising again. It is so easy to sit back and say something like that, especially not knowing the whole story, and, what I have been through. I think that is what prompted me to write this message. It does suck losing money, but, please don't fan a fire that was out by leaving messages like that. It's almost like people are making out me and others out of money to be bad people. Finally,(whew), I would like to thank the new friends I have made in this forum who have helped me, understood my frustrations, and made a lousy situation easier to get through. I also learned some valuable lessons from these new friends. One being, try not to be angry or bitter because nothing good comes from it. I'll take these friendships, over lost money, any day! Thank you.

  15. It would be nice to have some kind of converter from other formats. I don't know how complicated is developement for LockOn or DCS, so I don't know if it would be possible to make an application that loads one of the standard 3d format (obj, collada, fbx...), and converts it to internal LO/DCS format. There are many people who make planes to other sims, and they just can't afford 3dsMAX, so they are using freeware and cheap alternatives like Blender, 3dCanvas, Softimage ModTool, and many more. Most of them have enough tools to make a complicated 3d models for a simulator/game.

  16. Собрал материал. Записей переговоров хватает на несколько часов радиоэфира. Пока есть только авиация, но эфир поделен на три группы: гражданская авиация, фронтовая авиация и транспортная. Разбил эфир также и по точкам. Радиообмен (а это как правило обмен с РП, реже штатный между пилотами) ведется в Краснодаре, Майкопе и возле Крымска. Для каждой группы и аэродрома назначил свою частоту, всего вышло 9 каналов, что создает впечатление достаточно насыщенного эфира. При этом записей на один канал хватает, чтобы не повторяться в ходе миссии. Теперь проблемы:book:: 1. Насколько точно реализована зависимость расстояния уверенного приема от мощности передатчика? Хочу прописать мощность такой, чтобы была возможность принять сигнал РП любого аэродрома. 2. С чем может быть связаны искажения и "фризы" при воспроизведении звука? Формат WAV, битрейт как в записях Radiomayak. 3. Как добиться того чтобы при создании радиостанции, на местности не появлялась модель радиовышки? (вопрос, наверное, "на троечку", но не хочу сидеть и изобретать велосипед) 4. Весь материал, включая файл lua параметров радиостанций есть мысль упаковать в инсталятор, чтобы с установкой мода можно было совладать "на лету". Но вся эта кухня весит ~650 Мб, что не слишком комфортно для широкого круга пользователей. Есть идеи по оптимизации мода, или по выбору сервера?

This is the exact reason IMO, along with American business greed equals instant gratification for all the dummies that own and play consoles; I had the Atari 2600 console as a kid and it was the most advanced gaming in it's day--I never ever expected we would GO BACK to consoles after the PC. It's the same reason why that dumb Guitar Hero is such a hit; no American wants to take the time to learn the real thing. Add the stupid TV shows like American Idol, and So you think you can dance crap and we are all doomed over here. The Japanese hate the Apple I-Phone and I don't blame them--I would never own one either--but try telling that to my kid. For years American car companies have been producing JUNK and it has finally caught up with them. I say good for Russia and any other country that wants to take the time to produce a highly detailed polished sim/game. That HAWK game is a joke and I might as well play Pac-Man if that's all were going to get from American developers.

  20. Maybe because over there in Russia, they are less infatuated with stupid Xbox consoles and think it's worthy to invest in a game that won't be playable on a console. All the new major games in the US are ment to be played on a damned console, wich ruin the game IMO.

  21. Just wait for the message to come up in chat, works everytime without fail. Just remember to say goodkill when you die or Mo-Mo-Monsterkill if its your 5th kill in a row.:D And the other way, just use the flashing circle as a guide for tracking but if you have to re-aquire the target it won't flash but will still track, estimate approx 60sec for 60km (approx 1sec per km) depending on altitude.

  22. You still need to fully run the game on a remote server, but you can lower resolution, graphic options, etc. This tool will let you control it via in-game chat as a remote client: change mission, kick players, polls, etc. So it's like a dedicated server, but still using graphical engine.

  25. I keep hearing about this bland world and I am just not sure what people expect. A warzone is a deadzone (I speak from real world experience here). Not much moves and that which does is a target. You won't find civilians running around willy nilly. You won't find massive convoys just running around unmolested, they are the soup du jour. A mission in Black Shark is only as live as the mission maker makes it. And if your world is bland then you should fly other missions by other mission makers. There are some really talented mission makers here that will keep you on your toes and make you fly in a live, shootin' back at cha, world. The first campaign has even been ported over to MP play with 7-8 missions ready to MP. I am working on getting the second campaign ported over also but can't find the enthusiasm to do it.

  28. Параноики там все в Редмонде, если так. Всегда все программы сначала искали нужное у себя, а потом в местах общего пользования, и это было удобно. Но и подсовывать свой рантайм в системные каталоги - это еще бОльшая борзость.

Photoshop's lensflares don't really match up with the anamorphic widescreen look I was aiming for.
