  1. ¿R.T.B.M? ¿Return To Base Manually? :P And please, God, let us not behave like experts sending novices to RTFMing Land.

  2. What are you going on about Ice? Have you ever been on multiplayer? I can tell you that when ever I have been flying Blackshark on the 104th_DCS server it has virtually been full. You may not see that living in Australia because of the time zone difference between us but trust me, we who fly DCS Multiplayer online maybe small in number but we are steadily growing. The guys at ED have done an excellent job of getting the Sim off the ground and who cares what it looks like as long as the long as the virtual pilot feels as if he is flying the real thing. Hey if you want a "sim" with good a good graphics engine but none of the reality then go fly HAWX. Routemaster Out.

  3. RTFM is not an acceptable answer to anyone. How do you know if he/she didn't already do so. If you don't know the answer then stay clear of the thread. If you know the answer then be nice enough to actually help by answering the question. RTFM is rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. In a no-threat environment: Anti-collision light(s): Turned on day or night during startup, and kept on throughout flight and all the way through shutdown. It's one of the first things turned on after the batteries come online, and one of the last things to get turned off. Some aircraft only have red anti-collision lights, and some have both red and white. Typically, white is used during the day, and red is used at night. If an aircraft lacks a white strobe, then the red one is used during the day. Navigation lights: Usually only used at night, but sometimes during the day as well. The biggest use of these lights is to help other traffic identify which way you are travelling and who has the right of way. The red light is always on the left side of the aircraft, and the green one is always on the right. At night, if you saw two nav lights in the distance, and the red one was on the right, and the green on the left, you'd know that you had an aircraft heading directly at you. If you only see green, you know you are looking at the aircraft's right side and he is travelling left to right (relative to your line of sight). When two aircraft approach each other, if Acft. A sees the red light of Acft. B, then Acft. A loses the right of way and should deviate course as necessary. If, instead, Acft. A had seen Acft. B's green light, it means that Acft. A has the right of way and should expect Acft. B to deviate as necessary. There is also a white light at the tail of the aircraft. Rotor tip lights: Used at night only, and usually only during ground run and taxi to indicate the aircraft's moving rotor disk. Tip lights help the crew to make sure they have adequate clearance during ground runs and taxi. They also help identify the aircraft as a helicopter to other traffic. Normally, they are not used during flight unless necessary for traffic avoidance as an additional means of identification and to make your aircraft more visible. Formation lights: Only visible form relatively short distances. Are only used at night to aid wingmen in determining your aicraft's attitude relative to their own. As the name implies, they are used to help aircraft stay in formation at night. Note that they are always mounted on the top of the aircraft, so your wingmen wuld have to be slightly higher than you to benefit from them. In an threat environment, only formation lights would typically be used, since they cannot be seen form long distances and cannot be seen from below the aircraft. All other lights would be left off unless the risk of a collision became greater than the risk of being seen. Note that many military aircraft have NVG-compatible lighting that can only be seen using night vision goggles. In these cases, the IR strobe will be on almost all of the time, unless the enemy is suspected of having night vision equipment. In DCS, I believe that having lights on will help you to be seen by the AI, which is always a bad thing, so it's best to fly with the completely off unless you're trying to help your online buddies find you (although in those cases they should be on your ABRIS via datalink, right?)

  8. UPDATE: I have released a new, better, version. See post #20 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=772603&postcount=20 Hi! I've written a program for controlling the leds from BS today. Buttons 1,2,5,6 display the targeting mode (ie, ground moving, autoturn etc) and 3,4,7,8 show autopilot status. When flight director is activated the autopilot leds will be amber instead of green. I hope someone will find this useful. Add the function from addtoexport.lua to your export.lua file and just start g940.exe. I have no idea what kind of runtime libraries is needed to run it, it is the first program I have written in visual studio. EDIT: updated the coroutine so you don't have to change the host ip (it uses localhost now instead of my local ip..)

  9. ~S~ Greetings and salutations, This post is to announce the release of a new Flash cockpit trainer for DCS:Blackshark. If you ever flew Falcon 4, then you are probably familiar with the cockpit trainer for that sim. This is very similar, but much more detailed. When you mouse over buttons, switches, and guages, a pop-up window will give a brief description of that item. Some items are clickable giving you an even more detailed description. This Cockpit Trainer was developed by a fellow War Hawks member, WH_Snacko, for our squadron Training Module. But once we saw the level of detail Snacko had put into this, we knew we could not keep it for ourselves. War Hawks Training Module Full War Hawk members have access to all training courses, but some are open to the public. The cockpit trainer can be accessed by clicking on the above link. You can then scroll down to find the KA-50 Cockpit Trainer in the Blackshark specific area of our training module. You will be prompted to log in or view as a guest. Guest access will allow you to view this trainer as well as a few other courses. If you have any questions or would like to join us for full member access to other courses, feel free to contact us from the War Hawks Website. Thanks to WH_Snacko we now have a stand-alone version available as well. Currently hosted on a mediafire account here: Stand-alone DCS:Blackshark Cockpit Trainer Respectfully submitted,

  10. Anyone got his hand on this already?!! I'm interested if there's unbiased user overview anywhere, I'm interested in this product and would like to know more on programming possibilities of it. I got used to a TM Cougar HOTAS and I really like Foxy, application that makes programming easy and logical so I wonder if MFDs can be programmed in same or similar way (thru Foxy and/or Cougar Control Panel). What's the HOTAS/MFD compatiblility, I believe there should be since both come from TM. And finally, we're gonna press those buttons a lot so how should one secure MFDs from moving during use?!

  11. Hear hear! It is just silly when people have to start calling others cheaters because they got shot down and can't explain it. Instead of learning from the engagement and improve their flying skills, they think they are already Tom Cruise and hence the other guy must be cheating.

  14. The manual can be downloaded from here: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=3&pid=298&cid=6 The Cougar Control Panel is mentioned / shown in the manual. I didn't notice any reference to Foxy. The Cougar MFDs are shown to have a removable base that you can adjust to several angles of tilt upon your desk. There appear to be screw holes available at the back end of the base so that you could screw them down to a board or desk. The bases can be removed, and the MFD button rings have 4 screw holes if you want to panel mount them.

  15. Everything is in the manual. Read it and if you still don't understand then ask your questions. A good one would be to watch the producer notes that you can download from this websites main page [ but you have to login for that]. They are very helpful in understanding the shark with good visual aids.

  16. That was began with a "nand-made" research. The most practical appeared to be Х-25 and Х-29L with laser homing warhead under the guidance of range finder-designator "Klen-PS" from other attack plane but such technique was not successful - there was too hard for pilots to identifн and fix the targets. So at the first use from four launched Х-29L only two have hit the aims tightened by a smoke. The best results were given by the help of the gunlayers who knew the area very well. At first laser designators were tried to mount on APC and IFV and then they were replaced by regular vehicles (BOMAN) (a version of it you can see in BS ;)) on the base of BTR-70 on which the system was covered under the armour and was put outside at work. The enemy has quickly estimated value of unusually looking vehicles and tried to destroy them first of all. After several successful launches when rockets destroyed staffs and islamic committees, the hunting on BOMAN has begun on roads and parkings, enforcing to hide vehicles behind a barbed wire and mine obstacles of well protected airfields. Missiles became the solid weapon of destruction the enemy cave shelters, almost impregnable for other stuff. The LGS on APC you see on picture was the only one made in this regiment.

  17. If you are talking about the little red numbers inside the pretty red circles then you should change your datalink id number station to the next available one or if there are already 4 people on that particular channel then you should change to another R-800 radio channel. See picture below.

  18. I doubt this mod will get released for the public now, it's already very much finished and if he'd wanted to release it for public he'd done it by now... from now on I will not REP or comment on anyone's WIP unitll it's finished and released (if it's said to be released)...

  21. Hi Tomcatz, Explain how this is done online please, you seem to know something most believe impossible. And its not through LRM. Missiles get madogged more often than not its built into the game and just an exploit of reality. This has been done to death. You can't police it as everyone does it in one form or another be it ET or ARH. If you can't see a bandit visually at 10 kliks then you need to turn down your antialiasing or buy some glasses. As for quitting it happens and it sucks but at the end of the day you'd still be dead if he didn't quit. Sorry but this is notching your radar update is delayed. Ive also heard the one about disappearing aircraft, in reality the bandit just turned away. Most probably lag you didn't literally see him press the printscreen key did you, lag happens more often when missiles are in the air. I've killed bandits over 100km with ER, it has long legs. The flanker radar sees bandits 120km away. Ive also seen people claim its cheating when they get killed over 70km which is naive BS. These little cheat claims do the multiplayer community no good, they just create more hysteria by uninformed people. There are ways of cheating this game if you fancy carriers flying around your world but there are plenty of explanations for things which wrongly get called cheating.

  23. I would probably have to learn how to start the Ka-50 manually to make that and have no plans to do that. I just don't have the interest. But Boomer may have some other training planned for that? I have offered to ED to make one of these for the A-10 and there was interest in it, but it is way too soon for it now of course. Either way, I love the A-10 and do plan to make a Pit Trainer like this for it. And maybe even a Startup Trainer.. I think it is so much easier to read the basic documentation interactively like this. But this will never replace the detailed manual provided with the game. However, I was thinking it would be cool to be able to just add external links to sections of the documentation to popup in a browser. Like for the ABRIS and other more complicated systems. Snack

  24. I agree that controller programming is not necessarily difficult and that HOTAS programming in particular is very personal -- what works for one does not necessarily work for another. But, the request here was more for a profile with the BS command set already loaded. The G940 profiling software actually is in several layers so that you can predefine sets of keystrokes (Commands in Logitech language or macros). This can be done without mapping anything to device controls. You can predefine other types of commands (and have to in some cases to map to some controls on the G940): Cycle commands (where each controller button press steps through a series of Commands and finally loops around to the beginning to start over--presumably this could be a series of macros as well as a single command), Zone commands (where you can establish zones or bands within a control's range that initiate one or more Commands when the control is within that range), POV commands (which really apply to all hats whether used for POV or not and where you predefine the commands to be executed for each position of a hat switch -- I may be mistaken here but I believe this is the only way to get commands mapped to a hat switch) Axis commands (which assign game functions to an axis although I haven't quite figured out why yet ) and finally Keystrokes (which are just that and I believe simply a subset of a Command) Given the complexity of the Black Shark's command set (and not even considering other games and sims with large numbers of available keystrokes), it is beneficial to have a "starting point" to begin the actual mapping of the various commands to device buttons and axes. Since the Logitech marketing fellow had mentioned having profiles available, it's only logical to ask for them ... with everyone keying in hundreds of commands there are bound to be simple mistakes. And with people deciding that this function or that function doesn't need to be programmed to the HOTAS based on personal preference the potential is to wind up with a large number of very different command sets in profiles. When people start sharing profiles, this just makes it harder for everyone involved. Standard sets of commands for popular sims would be a definite plus for many of us ... and you could still exercise your individuality through your mapping. Also, with the addition of cycling, zone, and POV commands (and maybe axis commands, too), there are possibilities for some creative (and potentially very useful) programming. I for one enjoy seeing how other people go about solving problems since it's one way to learn and I think it's good to share ideas ... that's one of the principles behind this forum (and it works especially well here ). So I guess I'm saying that I hope people will share their profiles here. Not (necessarily) because it's tedious or simple to do but because it can be helpful to fellow simmers who for whatever reason cannot do there own. Sorry for the long response. I'm currently working on a BS command set (as well as FSX and eventually Lomac:FC) and will make them available when I am finished. And hopefully, Wags will decide to share his profile with us ... although I can understand that he might not want to get into a position where he endorses a product publicly (or maybe "un-endorses" as the case may be )

  25. WORKAROUND FOUND. Hovering and Trimming is now a BREEZE! This is definately a bug with FF joysticks and I found plenty of threads on it for Flaming Cliffs. It looks like with Force Feedback enabled, reset trim does not go to neutral for BS in Instant Action. The workaround is the following: The Fix\Work Around: Disable Force Feedback in the Producer.cfg file. Find it here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config What to do: Change the TRUE flag to FALSE

:music_whistling:
