I have finished a larger campaign for the Su25T A longer campaign with a medium difficulty - more night missions Russian forces are trying to push back Extremist Nationalist forces back onto the Kerch Strait starting in the foothills north of Novorossijsk. Your air unit has the job of breaking resistance points and destroying any enemy forces. A basic style of mission with no labels. I've uploaded them to Lockonfiles - Please make a donation - I have - Thanks Thomas You need to be logged in For the Campaign - download Campaign here - it's a ZIP file to be unzipped into your Campaigns Folder For the MissionPack - download MissionPack here - To be unzipped into your Missions Folder Or at my Flightsims Page Let me know if there are any problems. It was a big one with lots of de-bugging and reviewing. Extremophiles will find it a bit mild but for each mission, I usually tried to throw in a curve or two. Enjoy!!2 points

Alright, a while back before I even installed DCS: Black Shark, I went through all of the producers notes so I wouldn't have to wait a million years before I could fly the Ka-50. As I was watching these, I was always thinking "Man, these videos are reaally long, and there is like no enthusiasm in this guy's voice." Sorry, Mr. Wagner. I mean, the videos certainly have a lot of information in them, perhaps even too much information for a lot of the users (Like explaning the page in the ABRIS that details satellite locations and their effect on accuracy.) There certainly are some people who will use that information, but I can imagine that those people are a smaller minority. So, when it came time to play the game, I couldn't remember much at all from the producer's notes. Not all information had stuck with me. I decided to make my own series of tutorials, sacrificing the amount of information for less time and a much, much more casual tone. I figure that if I take a much more casual tone and focus more in the key elements, then people will benefit more from it because it will keep their attention better. Now, I am not an expert with the Ka-50, I probably made some mistakes. I am always up for re-making these videos. They seriously took me like fifteen minutes each. If you spot an error in any of my videos, please point them out to me. I can at least make a comment within the video itself, if I don't remake the video entirely. Some videos may have some language in them, possibly deeming them NSFW if you have speakers. Again, I stress that I took a very casual feel to them. Autopilot Tutorial - I plan to remake this one later, it is too long at nine minutes, and I stutter and say "uhhhh" too much. And my voice pales in loudness compared to the engines. kmstMX8BldI How to Hover Tutorial zazolLemVds How to Learn the Start-Up Procedure j99-kO1N_3A Countermeasures Tutorial - This one I might remake, I've remade it like three times so far. It still is too long. 5gq1MF3Pl9M And a shameless plug for my "tutorial" of how to emergency land. This isn't a tutorial as much as it is a video just for laughs. EQqllUGbOt8 Any feedback is appreciated. These are not meant for anybody but the casual, inexperienced user. Experienced pilots won't take much more away from this at all.1 point

TL;DR: I recently discovered some articles from i5 automatic overclocking using 1-2 cores vs 3-4 cores when checking some specs of Core i7 vs Core i5. Q: "The Return of Affinity hack?" Here's some good reference material if you consider i7 or i5, and wonder if you should HT (minor reference to why it may not boost DCS so much), as well as experimenting with Affinity if you're a Core i7 or i5 owner. Brief overview: Core i5 vs. Core i7: Differences Between Intel's i5 and i7 Processors Now I havent seen this on my old first generation i7 940 - but I'll be sure to test it out a bit later. I think have read somewhere that the old i7 9xx may have experienced some difficulties doing this, the boost newer happened, so it may be hard to do with the old versions. The effects of turbo / automatic overclock of i5/i7, Tom's Hardware (oh god I hate the adverts there now); Intel’s Turbo Boost: Lynnfield Gets Afterburners p.4 From the brief look I had it seems - i5 might perform as good as any i7 if it gets boosted. Goods news. - i7 owners may actully be able to get some (long lost) more performance? (If it works on older i7 cpu's) I havent personally tested any of the effects - but if someone else wish to share their experience testing affinity on i7 / i5 - and if you get "Auto Overclock" / "Turbo" mode - then I there's gonna be a lot of people interested in the topic. I'll be back with more material if I have the time to test it myself :)1 point

I really don't think suspicions about cheating are worth the time. They've accused us of cheating, we've accused them of cheating, and a fun poll event has turned into two groups of people jealously surveilling the other's forums to see what nasty things is being said. Bit of a spectacle and in a way amusing, but it's not quite how it should be, is it? :/ It's still fun to be one of the "russians" though. :)1 point

Explaining how to create a full lockon model from zero is a huge task, there is not ready-to-use recipe. Nobody is able to explain shortly the full process ! But here is a short summary of the different steps. They're all important : -> Define the project. Which plane ? Which use ? If is for aerobatics only, you don't have to care about payloads, pylon positions, etc... It is for private use or public release ? For private use, you can forget some details, etc... -> Define poly count : 20.000 to 30.000 is a good base. -> Find documentation. Beware of blueprints, you MUST check their accuracy by comparison with pictures for exemple. Even if blueprints seems correct, they don't describe full shape of the model. You need a huge collection of picture to validate your work. -> Create 3D. -> Create mapping. -> Create template and skins. -> Implement animations. -> Create additional payloads. -> Edit MeInit and .skins files. -> Always check your model in game... Fix the bugs, then re-check in LO, then re-fix, etc... Many tutorials exist on the web, especially about 3D and mapping. I let you find them. If you have six months to lose (at least), you can begin now. And of course, don't forget the ED's plugin needed for .lom export... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=26447 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=23968 Cheers1 point

To setup widescreen you need to edit the following section of Graphics.cfg as such DisplayMode { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; Interface { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; } Simulation { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.77; } AVI { resolution = {640, 480}; fullscreen = 0; aspect = 1.3333; I only changed the simulation values and left the rest default Then to change the Su25T default zoom you have to edit snapviews.lua in the views folder Snap[4][13]["viewAngle"] = 118.663398742676 Snap[4][13]["vAngle"] = -20.382137298584 Snap[4][13]["hAngle"] = 0 the 4 refers to 25T and 13 is the default Fov, I also changed the defalult vertical angle to centre the view. I haven't changed any of the other fovs or angles for the other snapviews as I use TrackIr.1 point

There's just something that I ADORE about the standards DCS sets. For me that's more important than having different air frames. I understand the desire for more airframes, but I'd rather have one model that's as close to the real thing as possible than 6 that are 50-80%. I don't know why that is and I can't make sense of it, but it seems it almost can't be argued the FM is wrong (you get that NON stop on flight sim forums). The Hind in EECH is a nice model that's for sure, but it was harder to fly the MI-24 hind in DID's HIND (1997) on realistic than it is in EECH. The hind is a TORQUE PIG and you have to apply major rudder when you apply cyclic. So yeah a nice model, but fly's like something out of FSX. DCS will no doubt drop the F18 at some point, but if you have the Superbug and you've learned the systems (startup procedure, operanting envelope, landing speeds/stall speeds etc) than you're already ahead of the game and it's time to start dropping bombs. As much as I love to get into a fight, without a true understanding of the aircraft it makes your teeth dull and flat compared to sharp and pointy. The thing about study sims which I love so much is you have to sit and study to a certain degree step by step and eventually graduate to certain parts of the game. I spent the first 3 months in Black Shark learning to fly the thing. Seeing what it can and can't do. Sure I fired off some rounds to see some explosions, but flying the thing needs to be second nature before fighting in it. Anyway no disrespect obviously to those who think different, this is just how I feel on the subject of DCS and third party add ons.1 point

ON TOPIC -The muzzle flash was prety badass. Having seen US aircraft perform gun runs on dummy targets, I was not expecting to see that sort of muzzle flash from a fighter jet.1 point

X-Plane has both rain effects on cockpit glass, as well as moving windshield wipers. Although said effects do not interact between themselves, like in Enemy Engaged (and in reality too). BK 117 is definitely on my list to get! Outstanding visual details and a lot of hard work to make all the systems and flight dynamics. It's a job that simply has to be appreciated. Once for its scope and quality and twice for its rarity. There are very few really good addons (when I think good, I mean mainly flight dynamics, replication of aircraft systems and operation; graphics are important, but still on the second place) and among them helicopters are true 'white crows'. That being said, I can think of 3 good and nice helos for X-Plane and 2 for FS9. Not THAT much of detail as in Bk 117, yet still a lot of dedicated work and a lot of happy hours with them. As for FSX, currently there are no means for converting aircraft between it and X-Plane. It's a very popular topic, but the differencies between ways how aircraft for both sims are built and their file structure are way too big to even think of a reasonable method of cloning planes from FSX to X-Plane and the other way. You want Bk 117 for FSX - you have to build it from scratch, flight dynamics, visual representation, systems, gauges... everything. Maybe only sounds could be reused. As a side note, sceneries from FS9 and FSX can be imported into X-Plane relatively easy. Not point-and-click, but you don't have to have a degree in computer science to achieve that ;) Another question is: why on Earth would you like to try this beautiful helo in FSX, while you can have it in X-Plane? Helicopter dynamics (or rather lack of them) was one of the main reasons, I've never bought FSX and definitely switched from FS9 to X-Plane. And before you accuse me of being an X-Plane fanatic, know that I can see its various flaws and quirks and the first days/flights with it were a little daunting and discouraging. But after that first impressions I've come to a conclusion, that it has much more good features than flaws and since then it's one of my favourite pieces of software. And with frequent updates it's going to be only better! And building your own flying machines for X-Plane is just fantastic, it hooked me in no time. Microsoft sims have their own merits, they are not that totally bad - I used to have hundreds of hours in FS9. But after some time my interest shifted from just "happy-simming" to more serious approach to flying simulation, that is simulating flight itself and its dynamic nature, rather than giving me only a feeling of simulation, built over simplified flight model with use of additional features like ATC, traffic, dynamic weather, addons and visuals. These are nice, right, but the most important is flight itself. Even now, with Black Shark, most of my time I just cruise around and take pleasure from this beautiful and especially dear to me helo (a long story...) instead of busting tanks and evading SAMs (and my favourite mission being 'Courier' so far...) ;) One word about missions. My point of view is that missions are, before anything else, in your head. Think of an adventure and fly it, the rest is imagination, which by the way would be helpful anyway - afterall our computer flights are only simulated... Want some inspiration? Here you go: - rent a Cessna 172 and fly to visit your friend in a city 300km away. Unfortunately GPS is busted and you have to fly VFR/VOR/NDB. - as a pilot in heli charter company, you have to deliver mountain expedition to a high altitude LZ (remember to take max payload and minimum fuel needed ...). - follow one of great pioneer's flights, like Lindbergh, Hughes, Skarzynski, Orlinski, Bleriot, Mermoz in a plane from their time, or at least in something modern, yet challenging. Can you manage a flight of 5000km with a plane no faster than 100kts? Or in a helo? (Not in one take, but still...) - make a closed triangular track, with your airfield in one of the corners. Then calculate the headings and tracks for each of legs and how long would it take to complete it. Can you fly precisely according to the plan, without other nav aids, than stopwatch, magnetic compass and airspeed indicator? With wind and turbulence? In a fog?? :D - you are airliner's captain with bad luck: autopilot is out and you have to fly 10 "laps" in a holding pattern because of some emergency in airport or some VIP traffic. Can you do it and keep "laps" similar to each other? Remember: one "lap" has to be flown at a specific altitude with small tolerance and within 4-6 minutes. Tune the story to your needs, mood and off you go :) There is really no true need for scripted adventures, just a bit of imagination and invention.1 point
