So, i've been doing some work the last couple of evenings. My intention was to make quick-reference threat charts. Now there is already some threat guides around, including Paulrkii's; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77053&highlight=paulrkii ; MadTommy's; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68182 and also kind of what I had in mind; Threat chart by PlainSight (same link). However, I wanted to create one of my one with the following objectives: 1. A condensed chart, maximum 2 pages, for convenience of quick reference in stressful situations. 2. Slick looking, so to fit nicely to my printed document folder. 3. Easy on the eyes, easy to read, but must still contain enough information for any situation. 4. Numbers presented in different units. 5. Include the CMS instructions from Paulrkii's guide. (link above). 6. Reliable numbers. Now, allow me to elaborate on that final point: While reviewing the above mentioned guides; the in-game encyclopedia; ME graphically represented data and also in-game testing, I have not found all numbers to match up. That was expected. But for my needs, I wanted numbers that I could trust. So in order to settle disputing numbers, I have applied the following logic: 1. Real-world numbers are not relevant, and was not considered for these charts. 2. When numbers differ by a small amount, I have selected the larger one. (Better to think you're unsafe when you're safe, than safe when you're unsafe:) 3. When numbers differ by a big amount, the ME-data alongside in-game confirmation was considered to be the most relevant. 4. When a number was to ambiguous, it was left out. (please do help if anyone can shed some light on the missing values :helpsmilie: ) In the end, I'm satisfied with the preliminary result, and have learned a lot, and now I wanted to share with you guys (and girls?) for peer review :smartass:. I welcome criticism and opposing opinions and I will follow up any inconsistencies that may arise. I do however ask that any number-disputing is accompanied by reference, ie from the ME, from another guide or the like... (No real world numbers, as they are not the objective of these charts)... Puh! So here it is: (v1.1) Threat charts v1.1 by Inseckt.pdf Edit: added xls version by request (download, then manually change file extension from txt to xls): Threat charts v1.1 by Inseckt.txt2 points

WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE but this has to go out because I am a modder myself who has got a lot of bullshit criticism for his work: Jesus dood. I think you have a "vision" because you actually sit down and do mods for a video game. How many people do that? Grow a pair and just say straight forward "Go **** yourselves guys, I do what I want and if people enjoy it - fine. If they dont, I don't force them to use my stuff." Report bad mouths - such a behaviour is NOT acceptable and any moderator will support you on this. Get them warned, kicked, banned, anything that is possible. ****ing sissies need to get their heads straight. They expect to come to the internet and have all they want JUST THE WAY they want right in front of them. Lazy mother****ers. I probably will get banned or warned for my bad language but hell no - no way a modder has to take shit from anyone! Honesty and constructive criticism is good but no way you should post bullshit comments on someones work! Heck - most AAA game developers started out by modding. Aah crap - kids these days.2 points

I'm recently unemployed and dropped $40 on the full BS version without even thinking about the cost. It's not about the money for anyone. Anyone with a PC that can run these games can drop $20 without blinking. The problem is they expected it to be free and are morally outraged that they had to pay for the upgrade to make DCS: BS a fully fledged A-10C quality DCS module. That is ridiculous and that's what's so annoying about the people complaining about having to pay. No one is saying "you're forcing me to choose between feeding my family or flying with my friends!" They are saying "I'm totally sure you said free and you even promised me that and now you're asking for money and someone said you'll keep asking for money so now I'm super mad about that and that makes you mean! But I bought it anyway." :smilewink:2 points

It is not helpful or mature to be so derisive or condescending to folk with a different opinion. This thread is a news post about the BS compatibility patch errr sorry BS2. The only place and the correct place for community members to raise concerns. If people want to complain they are completely entitled to. While money may not be an issue for you, others are not so fortunate right now. I'm sure many like me others are having a tough time justifying spending money on videos games while raising families on dwindling funds.. spending money on patches is even harder to square away. Have some empathy for others in different circumstances and don't be such an douche. (Sorry to be rude.. but you deserve it for you own comments.)2 points

Hope it works for you, it doesnt for me. To the whiners...can you please stop spamming the thread with your cryings about paying 20$? Stop smoking for 3 days and you got the money back...then you´ll see what worth more for you. So please, get back on focus of the upgrade...still can´t install it...any news about the new installer?2 points

OPERATION LAGAVULIN ================= This is a fairly long mission comprised of many short CAS type tasks. You will be mainly tasked with supporting special forces recce & strike units operating in the amber zone. It was designed as a 2-4 multiplayer mission and the tasks incorporate the kind of things that you would expect an A10 to be called upon to do. The tasks are varied and vary in difficulty. It also relies fairly heavily on FACs & AFACs but good Mark1 eyeballing is essential also. Also your choice of loadout may be a factor occasionally. You won't be idle for long, your reaction and skill will have a direct influence on the ground. In MP teamwork and communication is essential. I have uploaded 3 versions, the slmod version uses the chat window for comms whereas the other 2 versions rely heavily on the Radio F10 menu, and in these 2 versions the Host must also play the lead aircraft. I would suggest that you utilise the most powerful pc to play host as there are around 400 units and 200 triggers in total. This mission has been tested fully & runs fine on my pc. Also included is a single player version (sp) but be aware that this mission was originally designed for mp and as such it will be difficult to achieve all of the tasks especially as wingmen can't re-arm. The task randomisation should help though each time you run it. OP LAGAVULIN (CAS) ============== After our recent advances South East from SOCHI, US Forces are assembling for the next offensive from Sukhumi. Units of the 761st Tank Battalion are established at the current front line 16k to the East of Sukhumi extending Northwards. Further re-inforcements will arrive from the West within 48 hrs. We have a small roadblock on the west side of the river (TADS WP1) indicating our most easterly forces. We have also established 2 FOBs, Biscuit & Cracker, to the North East of Sukhumi, both of which have come under scrutiny by enemy forces recently. The main bulk of the enemies forces have retreated to within the area in RED shown on area map.The city of Zugdidi appears to have become a focal point of their defense. Many enemy units are still active within the area marked amber but we are slowly neutralising these positions mainly with the help of special forces recce teams and airborne assets. Currently we have CAP flights operating to the West of ZUGDIDI to intercept any enemy fighters launching from Senaki and other airfields in the interior. We are in a recon & interdiction phase preparing intel & softening the enemy prior to our next push East. A10s involvement with Special Forces Recon teams and AFACS will be fundamental to our success. Payload: A/R Launch from Sukhumi and HOLD in the area North & West of Dzhvari as denoted by the area marked CAS HOLD on map & by the waypoints shown on your TAD (WPs 2-5). Await instructions from AWACS, BlackOps (Special Forces Operations) or other AFACS operating in the area. Host (Tusk11 lead) is able to relocate the tanker to any of the indicated areas A,B,C & D using radio F10 Menu. --------------- Mission Tasking --------------- HOST - Many options are available in your Tx F10 Menu (press any Radio transmit button & select option F10) such as texaco reposition, comms with Blackops etc. Utilise it effectively to complete each Task. Menu F10 options include 1. Task Complete 2. Off task & RTB 3. Ready to Copy, Go Ahead 4. On Task & CAS ready 5. Say Again (i.e. repeat last task message) 6. Tanker relocate menu items x4 To get a new task you must either select option 1. or 4. These options will only become available once your previous task was completed satisfactorily or higher priority tasking becomes available. If in doubt select option 5 to check current Task details [slmod version instructions differ, please read brief]. Op_Lagavulin_MP4_v2.6slmod.miz1 point

To help alleviate some of concerns raised here about the general direction of DCS development, I can say that ED understands that production of individual titles, which need to be continually updated separately in order maintain compatibility is not a sustainable system in the long term. It continues to be our goal to develop a truly modular system with a unified world into which individual products can be plugged into and maintained up to date. Creating a technological and financial infrastructure for such a system is challenging, time-consuming and expensive, in particular when the realism bar for player-controlled and AI units, as well as the rest of the virtual world are so high. We know this has been a vision for many simmers and sim developers for a long time, including ED, but there is a reason why it hasn't happened yet. We will continue to work to try and make it a reality.1 point

+1 Common guys we're always talking about how we should support ED, well here's your chance to "put your money where your mouth is." If all the "patch" included was simply multiplayer compatibility then I would agree with the naysayers - yet there is so much more from what I have read and seen in these forums. I can't wait, I have 56 days left until I leave Afghanistan and return to the US, once there I will buy BS2 (32 weeks to download here). I think ED charges too little for their current offerings and I hope they do what ever it takes in the future to stay financially sound. I do agree with earlier postings about finding a way to share resources amongst the installs. I have a 240GB SSD that is pretty well loaded down already; until pricing goes down and storage size goes up I'm concerned with the completely separate installs. Also I support and hope that you guys release FC3 as well!1 point

Well in that case I don't give a rat's ass. Proper sounding GAU8 and impacts are more important than tank sounds. Although I am pretty sure you can tell for each ammo type what kind of explosion it triggers... I dont feel like digging deep into the configs though. Tiny update: v 1.03 -tweaked GAU8 sounds a bit, turns out my subwoofer was exaggerating bass that wasn't there. Now even the last guy with some proper phones can feel the shake. Could not put it better myself. I do not care of a few bucks more or less (just bought full BS2, instead of just BS1->BS2 upgrade). But I do not want to be handled as a cash-cow. I think ED-customers deserve better treatment... And concerning this move from modular DCS-system to more-or-less independent packages, I'm not sure it is a step in the right direction. Instead of having "only" two tasks (1. developing new DCS-module, 2. updating DCS-common graphics/physics/maps/simulation-core), in case of independent DCS-packages ED will have to update/upgrade each of them, when new DCS:part is released. It is maybe not so obvious now when we just have two parts of DCS-family, but will became clear in future. Imagine we have 20 DCS-planes, now ED just releaset DCS:No21, and we have to wait&pay for 20 compatibility-patches/upgrades (instead of just buying/paying for DCS:No21 and one upgrade for DCS-common core). And it is not only about money, but also time is a factor. With more and more DCS-parts we will have to wait longer and longer, till they are all finally online-compatible with the last new one...1 point

If you're having trouble supporting yourself, your family or a dependent and can't drop $20 on yourself in today's inflated price of goods world then you really shouldn't be playing. Sell the computer, get a second job or third, go on welfare, cut back on the electricity, whatever, cos you'd need to if you can't one time drop $20 to treat yourself. Yes, I'm judging those that bring the poor me sympathy card into the argument because really, you're complaining on a gaming forum....1 point

I'm sure there are many who feel aggrieved because they had assumed a compatibility patch between BS & A10c would be free. I mean come on, who didn't think it would be free? But putting that aside.. You are wrong when you say people are not having t make a important choice about how to spend $20. I'm certainly not going to claim its between putting food on the table for my family or flying BS.. but I am really struggling to make ends meet each month right now.. and i have vowed not to spend money on anything except important bills and food that keep my family content.. it has annoyed me that ED are charging for this patch, but not nearly as much as it annoys me the comments made to be told to suck it up without the right to comment or be told to stop smoking and then all will smell or roses. That is what is so fing annoying.1 point

Hi everyone, I haven't been writing that much in this forum lately, but now I just feel the need to give my opinion on the discussion about this upgrade. The last "simulator" I really had was F/A 18 Interceptor on the Amiga. When I read about Black Shark, I bought it, along with TrackIR, HOTAS and pedals. LockOn + FC2 followed as well as A10C + TM Warthog. I just state this, because I have spent a ridiculous amount of money for not even playing that much. And others do the same, buying the TM Warthog at release even though they have a HOTAS, but then complaining about 20$. When I read reviews of other games, stating 25 hours of gameplay, I can just smile. As I wrote on a review, concerning Black Shark and complaints about only one flyable bird (a little overdrawn): One of its systems is more complex than many of the mainstream games. The update with dynamic weather etc. is huge on BS2, compare this to the various FIFA, Codemasters or SimBin titels (which I really like). They are more mainstream and less complex, yet full price titels. I'm happy to be able to support ED, since the genre is quite a niche. Of course they want to earn money, but I don't have the feeling they're trying to cheat their customers. BS1 was a robust full product. If they did a lot of work to make BS2 meet the DCS (A10) standards, let me pay for it. Someone wrote about bad customer service in that regard: Have a look at the forums, I'm always happy to read detailed information about the new weather system, simulator internals, new sound and others that are given by the developers. I do not see this in many other forums. It's mainly the sim genre with similar marketing concepts. I don't know if I am what is called a fanboy nowadays (well, I don't think so), but I'm willing to pay for these upgrades, because I like what I see compared to many other products. Cheers bfeld1 point

I thought I read somewhere that the lua files were not compatible and you'd have to remap your settings for BS2.1 point

The way I figure it: I bought the game in 2008. I got my money's worth out of it. I flew the hell out of the Blackshark. Now, with the prospect of flying coop w/ the A-10C, I will be flying it some more. $20 for an upgrade isn't all that bad imho. The only thing I wished ED would have done is given some advanced notice on this. While $20 isn't hard to come by for me at this moment, others might not readily have it available and will miss out on some fly time with their friends who can afford it. Advance notice could have let them budget it in. There would have been the pre-emptive complaining (as always) but at least people would have known :) It also would have taken alleviated the "Here's the upgrade! But ya gotta pay for it" surprise everyone got hit with :)1 point

Pilots didn't paint anything back then nor nowaday for the most part, their mechanics did, actually it has been that way for many years, and they can't even put their names on the jet, most could care less. Some of them don’t even know what jet is theirs and show little to no interest on knowing their jet nor their crew chief. I had pilots before be completely surprise when they actually see their name on the jet. There are very strict rules for painting the aircraft, mostly for corrosion control and prevention. They did allow the F-117 to get stencils of their old bomb bay art, and there was an F-16 in Aviano (Tail #2001, we called it balls one) with nose art, but someone did not like it and had it removed. This is one of the paint guidance http://www.robins.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-091006-030.pdf1 point

So does this mean in the end we better be prepared for DCS:A10-2, and DCS:BS-3 when ever DCS:"future module" shows up? Well maybe we all had a missconcept about DCS when we thought it would work like MS Flight Simulator Addons.1 point

А-10 и без него работает. о чем вобще разговор то ? кому надо - тот купит. З.Ы. ждем русскую версию .. англ. язык люблю, но кабина в Ка-50 на англ. мне выносит мозг...1 point

Did you keep a backup before overwriting the lua? Lua from BS1 is not compatible with BS2, and if you first overwrote it and then deleted, anything can happen. I would recommend a re-install, or try the following: C:\Users\XXXX\Saved Games\DCS Blackshark 2\Config\Input Make a backup of the contents here, then delete them. then start the game again and it will hopefully re-create defaults properly. If this does not work, try a reinstall.1 point
