For the mission designers: The last couple of weeks I've been digging through field manuals and online resources to find info on "realistic" battalions/groups/platoons/batteries/... The result is a mission file with more than 30 different battalions, batteries, platoons,.... For the ease of deployment in missions, larger groups are divided in subgroups, so you can deploy a single platoon out of a battalion if you want. Most groups are just a line-up of all units needed in that group, so exact unit placement is up to you. Other groups are already placed in a setup like found in the online resources. Same goes for some subgroups. Different variants are available where appropriate. In infantry platoons, some of them have the soldiers themself in a separate group. Leave out if not needed, duplicate if more are needed. Obviously, DCS does not have all vehicules available that are needed to make it 1 on 1 realistic. So, non existing vehicules are replaced by simular units or left out. Used my imagination here. Also included, is a farp template, what allows you to place a group of vehicles that are outlining a farp structure if zoomed in completly in the editor. Handy to place the farp on a exact spot, or to place units on the farp. Once done, place the FARP structure itself on the central unit, which is another type for easy recognition. Download HERE. In the download are a .miz file what can be used to ad the groups to your own templates, a templates.lua file to simply replace your templates and a pdf with all groups in it. Combined Arms type game play has always been my biggest wish for the DCS series. The A-10 Beta gave me big hopes which where sadly crushed as the features where removed in beta, only to be revitalized with the road map announcement. What Features would you like to see besides whats announced? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81589 What i would love to see whether or not its a reasonable is: in general: A dynamic multiplayer game where two opposing forces caputre and control runways, towns, hilltops, and other points of interest. I think this is already possible via the editor but i'd like to see it fleshed out, perhaps via the ingame map. Combined Arms: If the multiplayer engine has the bandwith for more players. I'd also wish for a sytem that has a chain of command for various levels of gameplay. Basicly, a few lowly fellows at the bottom of the chain of command gets to control of a small number of unique ground assets, who falls under a field commander who gives orders, direct firesupport, direct UAV's, and can task the CAS. Follow the chain to the top theatre commander who would give general attack orders to their field commanders, issues them assets, and mange supply routes, reinforcements, and defense between captured points. FC3: Improved carrier ops. I think we all can agree this needs to be looked at. I'd love it if players que'd to spawn on the lift instead of spawn fraging on the launch area. I would love it even more if we had a carrier deck ops/ fleet admiral who manages that and the fleet! /dream1 point

I use a 13 gallon dust collector from harbor freight. I just didn't use the dust collection back and routed it out of the house with semi rigid HVAC pipe.1 point

OK - than hold a minute... My files will still have the problem that the NVG will stay in the middle - but not stretched any-more. Give me again some minutes to load a correct file for you up that has the NVG only at the left side.... (you can click the vid again...;) ) Done! - this looks maybe strange - but you need this kind of Focus.png intead of a centred one: Now you maybe understand - why I really dislike to release this Mod in this current state... Attached again are two versions - for "big" and "small" - please try and report!1 point

Ok, is anyone else getting this error occasionally? This error SHOULD appear when you try to open two instances of DCS simultaneously, but one person is reporting that it occurs to them randomly. On my system, it never pops up randomly- only when I try to open two copies of DCS. So has anyone else seen it pop up randomly when just in the middle of hosting a mission? Anyway, it's happened enough to that person that I'll have to look at reprogramming this line of the dcs.log daemon. The only problem is, VBscript is like Chinese. HOW THE HELL IS THIS A VALID SCRIPT?!?! Set copyof_dcslog = dcslogcmds.OpenTextFile _ (strFile, ForAppending, True) That looks like gibberish, a syntax error, but in VBscript, that is apparently valid code... Yea, not looking forward to reprogramming the daemon :( Biggest issue is that this is an intermittent problem only affecting a subset of computers, and just about impossible to reproduce reliably. Edit- I think I may have fixed it... still don't understand why it would only pop up for some folks and not others. If this fix works, I'll work on pumping out a version 5.3 sometime soon.1 point

Radios are a beast in their own so segment out your learning method that best suits you. If you prefer the easy communications mode you just press "\" to bring up the comms menu (make sure the radios are on) and the function keys to select the options. I personally wouldn't recommend that for very long since I believe full control over the radios adds to the realism/immersion if you're into that kind of thing. Full control will take slightly longer to master since you have to manually enter frequencies and select the correct radio in order to communicate. It's great if you have a HOTAS with an extra hat available to map your mic switch to fwd, aft, and down.1 point

Good point about the bit size. I prefer not to have to deal with tool changes in the middle of my runs, but drilling with 1/8 and cutting with larger is probably a good idea. If you up the bit size to 1/4", just be sure to check any profile cuts in the area of the inner sidewall of the ribs. There are slots intended for sliding a piece of hardboard covered in fabric. That's about the only area where I could see a bigger bit just plain not fitting, so the tool path may miss them completely. Also create a drill operation at each of the inner corners to prevent the larger radius from blocking your assembly. I'm planning to use plywood, it gives better options for skinning, like using wood screws directly into the ribs. In the case of MDF, I made drill holes so you can attach small pieces of alum. angle to help with skinning. I'm thinking about making the outer skin permanent, so I'll use a combination of screws and construction adhesive to bond the skin. Not that I'm a rivet counter or anything, but on the real aircraft there aren't a lot of rivets in the area being skinned for this pit, and they don't all follow a vertical path. So I may rely more on the adhesive and put screws mainly on the outer edges, and try to follow the real shapes as closely as possible. I think the most important part for the overall look will be separating the canopy sill into a separate piece. What do you guys think about using a foam filler between ribs to help shape the curves of the skin and make it easier to bend without creasing... necessary? Not necessary?1 point

Anyway if the rain effect will do the Black Shark 2 the A10C will have this effect too. Actually make 3D rain/snow will be nice cause its not, when we turn the camera we see the rain/snow fall but at the same trajectory not relatively to the ground but to the camera, that follow it, 3D or the same visual effect but in a 360° sphere...1 point

Well, that was very light rain ... Think heavy rain + Ka-50. It has wipers for windshield and Shkval, I don't think they put them on there for show. It also flies much slower, especially when scanning/engaging targets ... It could certainly make things interesting :D1 point

obviously the a10 does not have wipers, but is it a air system is it not to blow away rain on canopy front glass? , when taxing in heavy storm conditions and landed. during flight most of the droplets get blown off anyway with air flow.1 point

You're very welcome Mule. The idea behind sharing this was to inspire and show people that electronics need not be such a mysterious place.
