  1. Hi, with all that new modules, that are already released (Ka-50, A-10C, P-51) and announced (MiG-21, IRIS Projects, EDs first fixed wing fighter, FC3) the airspace in DCS is growing to a good and real level. If it possible, to fly with 40-50 clients in the future, we need controller - like in real life - which control and lead the airspace. We will need an ATC, who coordinate the airspace around the airbase, including take off, approaches and taxi/ ramp. On the other hand, we absolutely need GCI controllers. Now, we have an AWACS and with the "new" function, to set up the pattern of the AWACS to the real one, we have good conditions that the AWACS can even work on a turn. But the AI as GCI is not really good, not flexible and the important: in real life, the GCI give the commands to the pilots, depending on mission task or threat level. So, we need an DCS module for controlling the airspace and missions as ATC/ GCI! This module have to be just a desktop with radar screen and all the other tools, controllers have - like a radio and datalink. With an external tool like TARS, the controller could work like in real and contact pilots on different frequencies. Without TARS, the controller have to use radio commands and use that, to give orders to pilots on different frequencies. If the aircraft has a datalink which works with the ground based station (like Link16), the controller give commands via datalink to the pilot. The mission builder should choose, which radars can be used. Only airbase radars (with different ranges), SAM radars (tracking radar, search radar), early warning radars, ship radars or AWACS (range and picture depending on altitude and terrain). The mission builder could mix them. The controller itself, could choose between air picture for doing GCI work, a real-time-strategy view (bird's eye view) to control the airbase and its airspace (~ 10nm, scale able) and a in-game view from the towers position, to check and control approaches at the airbase. The controller should set bullseye via coords, use NCTR to make an EID at longe range, measure dynamic range between two aircrafts and so on. ATC Tool by Zillion (vJabog32) for FC 1.12 (without B/E function via coordinates) - our squadrons favourite tool for that work. Sadly, it isn't updated for FC2/ DCS. The other program LoATC, isn't that good, IMO. kind regards, Fire

  3. Hi, Well, as I hope for the release for the MiG-21Bis soon, I thought why not practice dogfighting in the A-10 until then? Okay, I must admit, I probably not my best idea. :smilewink: I set up a short mission, against a not so good enemy. Well, I thought it is better to die because I am to stupid to fly arround his bullets than to get shooten down from x miles with a hyper modern missile, before I can even see him. So I did several dogfights against him, and I have to say, at least in this simulator I didn't had bad chances. Okay, sometimes he gunned my belly before I have even noticed him but I also did some kills. I also noticed that I have a really bad aim with the gun. After I hit him with a AIM-9 he was creeping home, I did my best to get him, but it took about 500 rounds to shoot him out of the sky, while he was flying straight and steady. :D I did better when I pulled him down to the ground, which made the life much easier for me. Maybe because he is at least at the same altitude or higher above you, which makes visually spotting/following him much easier (okay, I also lost him visually as I was fighting against gravity sometimes...). But also my small turnradius was an advantage down there. Sometimes I flew small circles while he tried to aling himself for a good shoot. And after some passes I had luck, and suddenly he was infront of me, my GAU-8 and last but not least the AIM-9. Okay, I didn't hit anything airborn with the cannon, but the Sidewinder did a good job. I have uploaded the mission and the track, in case somebody is interested in such a little trainingsexercise. I would really like to see your tracks, maybe from this mission or from any other, where you had a nice dogfight against some nasty enemy. Best regards, John 1vs1.trk 1vs1dogfight.miz

  4. With everything that is coming like fc3,CO,F15E,F22 and so on, I really think that games which offers an incredible level of realism like A10C, or KA50 should get a higher tag.Delevoping something like that should be rewarded and I can't understand how can these modules cost only 40$,even less that something of the kind of call of duty. I was thinking in something among the lines of 65$ for DCS standards,40$ for flaming cliffs and the kinds, and a bit less for maps and other contents. I do know making something more expensive is not usually very welcome but I think that the majority of us who play these kind of games knows how to aprecciate what we have on hands. Please feel free to give your point of view.

  5. Hi there everyone I use the logitech g940... wich is an ok system, it would have been more than ok without the axis spikes. First I just mapped one of the throttle wheelaxis to the zoom function. That was a bad idea, atleast for me. Spikes and zoom are no good combination. I just wanted to show how I use the zoom in the simulator. I use the zoom in 2 steps, the first I like to see as a focus step, and the other as my binoculars. This way I don´t have to bother for any spikes. I have mapped this to one of the little wheels on my g940 throttle. 6. It would nice in the ME if we could set units to be dedicated AI only and not available to be manned. I also wonder how players who man a lead vehicle in a group of ground units are supposed to know exactly what their task (as set by the miz builder) is unless of course they are in TS with the battle commander. All I know is that for CA missions, the miz briefs are going to have to be a lot more detailed !

  7. Just because a weapon was mass produced doesn't automatically make the round it shoots a #1 killer. Where would you put the 7.62 X54R? The Mauser? Ugh, this is way off the OP's topic. PM if ya wanna continue :megalol:

  8. Everything magical about ED/DCS would come to an end if they gave us an exact release date... :smilewink:

  9. I think that this is not an ED's problem, but a mission designer one. Remember that even if someone will make an X-Wing for DCS world, whithout proper slot added by mission designer there won't be any X-Wing in the mission. :smilewink:. So all you have to do is check that your (or else) server won't allow X-wing, if you do not like to fly in that environment :)

  10. Price/performance cards are good depending on your needs but when you are trying to push a resolution of 5292x1050 I reckon you are out the the price/performance cards and need to go for performance. You dont get a ferrari resolution and then decide a Hyundai engine is a good price/performance for it :)

  11. I "feel you" I also thought that they should be charging more but they do not so What I did (Like many Others) when BS came out in Rusky I bought that one. Then when it came out in English I bought that one and gave my rusky version to a friend who liked it and also bought the English version. Point is they don't need to raise the price if we put our money where our ideals are and support them. :D
