LOL. sounds like my first server i managed. novell lite. but my hard drive crushed your's at 512 MB. it crashed. we sent it to a recovery company. they sent me the contents on a CD

ModelViewer2 not clearing RAM properly, causing crashes
silverdevil replied to Wyvern's topic in Game Performance Bugs
hello. it does not really answer your question. though one can run MV outside of DCS. there is at least one report that it never op0ens this way. personally i am able to open MV outside of DCS. now to answer your question. i do not think it is possible to clear the MV memory usage except the three-finger-salute or just exiting DCS altogether. perhaps someone will have an idea for you. -
Key Bindings not saving between sessions GeForce Now

the fix is do not use GFN if it is causing you issues. why keep using when you know it is causing you troubles? just run DCS from the normal shortcut. literally thousands of players are doing this without everything being reset. -
there is another topic going now and i have seen before. is it possible your PSU is having issues or borderline capable for your system? when the PSU "ages" it gets less capable. just a thought.
-
perhaps this is a memory issue? add a static pagefile of 32 GB. you also may be running into a limitation on the processor. i see other posts when searching this in various non DCS forums. nothing definite. it seems to me that the shaders are buggy. an error such as this will affect DCS in Windows too. i would suggest going back to my earlier post to rename the DCS folder in saved games to allow DCS to recreate it. you could also try to delete the shader folders within that folder. \Saved Games\DCS\fxo \Saved Games\DCS\metashaders2 delete either all contents of the folders or the entire folders

my system has max 128 GB ram installed. i also have a static 32 GB pagefile. perhaps a placebo. however, i do not have any memory related shortcomings in DCS. it does not hurt anything to have it.

how is new drive connected? that does sound slow.

ED User Files - please help me to better find stuff
silverdevil replied to cfrag's topic in Forum and Site Issues
bingo hiob. many people do not realize that search db is different from operational db. the search db is created by incremental crawls to find the differences. i believe dcs is using the crappy forum backend searching. this likely would not change anytime soon. i commend y'all to make the effort to educate in the use of google. obviously a superior search. -
@AstroEma - i agree with @Rudel_chw. this is what i did to my system. i purchased a new 4 TB drive and a USB cradle because my 2 TB was getting close. in my case i used acronis that i already owned. i was able to clone the drive while running in about 1 hour. windows will not even know it happened except for a new device.

hello. do you perhaps have language packs installed? this update is mentioned in other forums. this could be cause of high FPS. not specifically high CPU usage.

reported AI helicopters not taking off vertically
silverdevil replied to jaz85's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
hello. just a thought. have you edited the mission at all since the latest patch? sometimes a patch will change mission parameters and needs to be tweaked. to make it easy, just edit the bits / flights that are experiencing the issue. i suggest making a copy of your mission first. -
i see from your path, you are running DCS in linux? i did not pick up on your original post mentioning Ubuntu. is steam play setup properly?
-
there is probably corruption in the content you copied. there have been no others reporting this patch removing the folders. did you try to run DCS with the saved games folder empty? once you get the new folder populated, all you need to do is piecemeal copy certain folders from the backup. not enmasse. copy \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\config\Input first. then try the sim again.
-
@Tiramisu - i am concerned that your Saved Games DCS folder is now empty. is there another folder somewhere else? maybe on another drive? any backups? by design, when there is no Saved Games DCS folder, DCS will see this and make a new one with all default settings.
