  1. They are both the same, just different ways to describe the aspect ratio. Just divide 16 by 9 and you will see... Sorry I don´t have a solution to your problem, but it´s not the aspect ratio...
  2. I´m doing my part Had the same problem yesterday. There is already a post in the Huey Subforum, but it might get noticed here better...
  3. I noticed that too. Wasn´t sure if it came with the current update.

    Virpil Base

  5. Another small update: I decided against painting the thing. Although I sanded the surface a bit so color would stick better, a friend of mine commented that because the wood was varnished, I would have to do a lot more sanding. And I agreed with him. So I found an alternative on Amazon in self-adhesive film for furniture. The stuff isn´t overly expensive (20 euro) and there were 5 meters on the roll. So if I messed up, I`d have enough left for another go. For my first try, I´m quite happy with the result. There are no air bubbles in it (at least not at the front, the bumps in the center are from the screws behind it) It was a bit fiddly to get the Virpil control panel back in because it was already a very tight fit, so the film is a bit crumpeled in one of the corners, but it´s barely visible. Another thing I noticed is that the film is not very scratch-resistant. There is already a scratch from a slight contact with a USB cable. Probably in a couple of months it won´t look as smooth ... But anyway, here is the final result:
  6. Your output and craftsmanship are simply amazing.
  11. Even though I´m using a WarBRD base now, I still say the Warthog was "fine". Sure, the gimbal isn´t perfect, the slew stick not ideal and the dying circuit boards are/were inexcusable. But I´ve been happily using my Warthog for over a decade, something that WinWing and Virpil yet have to achieve. In the end it comes down to "Do I want a good HOTAS for 400 bucks or a great one for 900 ?"
  12. I think this is because when driving a race car, your view ist mostly fixed on the road ahead of you, while in an aircraft you will look out in all directions all the time. I think that´s why racing games might work better in 2D. But overall, I´m in the "Can´t go back to 2D" crowd. I even did not buy a couple of racing games, just because they didn´t support VR. I really regret buying this 34" 21:9 screen with TrackIR on my rig. I just don´t feel it...
  13. That was a good tip, thanks. Turned out the screws I attached the MFDs with, were a bit too long, so as you suggested, I printed simple holding brackets which I actually could attach to the MFD screws on the backside. Another "fun fact": It was not intentional, but my small wireless keyboard fits rather nicely between the two MFDs (it´s not attached in any way, just pushed in): Not very ergonomic to type on, but as I fly mostly in VR, it´s in a nice position to lift the headset and well ... hit the space bar when I have to or something like that. As you can see, I also attached the LED strips to the back. I didn´t feel like painting the whole thing yet, I first wanted to make sure everything works as I want it to. And now I´m too lazy to disassemble for painting. I just noticed the monitors power supply in the picture to the left of the pedals. Those I have to hide, other than that, most of the cables are out of sight (the one on the right is from the Reverb G2) Out of fun, I also took a picture in the dark Well, for now it stays like this. Now I actually want to fly a bit, haven´t even used the Virpil stuff yet.
  14. That´s what I use to fly the Huey (with inverted Collective) But I was asking myself the same thing. It works fine with the Huey as it only has one engine. The Apache has two, so I assume you would need two axis for throttle. Then again, in the Huey on startup you go full throttle and basically never touch the throttle again. Is it the same with the Apache ?
  15. Habe gerade mal in meinem Email Archiv geschaut.
  16. You can, I did this for a while, but as MAXsenna said, both versions are identical, so there is no point in doing that. But it won´t cause problems (other than using a lot of space) Steam users can play with standalone users in multiplayer and vice versa. Generally both versions (steam and ED standalone) are fine, use whatever fits you better, ED version offers some more discounts (for new users for example), releases come a few hours earlier. Personally, I use the steam version, because I like to keep my desktop clean, I have to start steam anyway to use steam VR, and also because I want to keep spreading my payment information around to a minimum.
  17. But then, some people would complain that they are not communicating what they are working on ... As you said: They can´t win.
  18. Try "MSI Afterburner", that gives you lots of info about CPU/GPU load, Ram usage, etc. and of course FPS
  19. That would be my biggest worry too. I fly exclusively in VR and Marianas is still unplayable for me. And I don´t want to make "special" graphics settings for single maps. I think, I´ll wait for a couple of reviews before buying the map ...
  21. No, with "standalone" I meant the ED/non-steam version.
  22. Most VR-headsets come with tracked controllers, which you can use to flip all the switches in the cockpit, though I found using a mouse just behind my throttle to be much easier to handle. There are also solutions of hand trackers/gloves, but I have no experience with those. Another good option many are using is software like voice attack where you can just give audio commands to your computer to raise or lower the landing gear for example.
  23. If you stick to the steam version, you have to buy all the modules from steam as well. Modules bought from ED Shop won´t work with steam. Any modules bought in the steam store can be converted to the standalone version though. I have been using the steam version for a long time. I have yet to encounter a module that would be incomatible. As with the standalone version, some modules might require the beta client though. Im steam, you can rightclick on the DCS entry and there is a tab called "beta participation" or something like that. There you can change the steam version to the beta client.
  24. What do you mean "no twist" ? I´m pretty sure that thing only moves on the x and y axis, and has no twist function. Hopefully you didn´t try to twist too hard and damaged the connector or something...
