  1. Will Corsair be a dogfighter? I am looking to purchase a warbird for dogfight, I would love if it's an American one, but since there is no P-38 anywhere near in DCS, I wonder should I wait for the F4U, or just go for the Bf 109. A Spitfire is not an option because of bad gun sight and low speed.
  2. Where can be found that option to try a module for two weeks? I only see the "buy" option, but I can't see some "try" option.
  3. Some civilian aircraft that also had military purpose, like DC 3 and B 707 would be awesome, so that DCS could be also used as a classical flight simulator.
  4. That is why I prefer taxiing with Mustang, lol, no need for unlocking tailwheel. I'm not sure if Thunderbolt is worth of effort to me, it's just not my thing. I use DCS mostly as a classical flight simulator, and sometimes I engage in some kind of combat, mostly dogfight. Thunderbolt is just not that pleasant for flying as Mustang, plus Mustang is a stable platform for guns and rockets and bombs unlike Thunderbolt, so I really see no use for Thunderbolt. I came to DCS World from Microsoft CFS 3, it was finally time to switch to a more recent combat simulator, although my heart is still with CFS 3, but it's kind of too outdated now. In CFS 3, Thunderbolt was one of my favorites, it was a very stable platform for aiming, more stable than Mustang, so I thought it would be similar in DCS, but here it is surprisingly agile and unstable for such a large and heavy aircraft, and also a bit slower I think. Thunderbolt was my first choice before I bought it, now I want to swap it for something else, lol. I've got my procedure for landing with Mustang, 150 kts gear down and flaps 2, approach with 120 kts, in front of runway full flaps and cut throttle, touch down at 90 kts. (I'm talking in kts since I mostly fly with external F2 view.) I am trying to do the same with Thunderbolt, but it just doesn't work that way. So I always finish with landing gear broken.
  5. Mustang is a dream to fly around and perform a little own air show, it's so relaxing, I must admit that is what I do in DCS for most part. I can try something similar with Thunderbolt, but it's just too heavy and not relaxing to fly at all. Mustang is also performing beautifully when taxiing on the ground with tail wheel locked, and landing is so smooth it's like I am putting it on the runway with my hand. On the other side, with Thunderbolt taxiing is a nightmare, and I crash land like 99% of time.
  6. P-51 Advantages: superb gun sight with lots of lead, more stable for aiming and shooting with guns and rockets and dropping bombs, higher speed, better climb rate, doesn't lose much speed in turn, more fuel for flying around. Disadvantages: burns in flames in a second and pilot dies with just few hits received, somewhat tricky to learn how to turn and to avoid rolling. P-47 Advantages: prettier module with high resolution textures and smooth cockpit operations, can carry more rockets and bombs, and should also have more ammo but I don't have such a feel, can sustain more hits and survive, has better turn rate. Disadvantages: average gun sight, very unstable for aiming and shooting with guns and rockets and dropping bombs, it's slow, its climb rate is worse, loses speed in turn very easily, less fuel but still enough. With engine management, I don't know, everyone is concerned about the engine, but I can't tell it's that important, comparing them I think you just have to find some maximum safe power by experience and trying and testing in various conditions. Both have great vision from cockpit. And both are very pretty aircraft. My personal choice is Mustang because of much better performance in action, both dogfight and ground attack, although it carries less weapons and is more likely to be shot down.

    Mirror?

It doesn't get rid of the mirror, it toggles between two mirror renderings.

    Mirror?

Left Shift + M is just toggle mirror rendering. I have searched for "mirror" in Mirage controls, but found only that one.

    Mirror?

I see that now I've got only options for low resolution mirror and high resolution mirror, but no option for no mirror, if I'm not mistaken? Is there any way to turn off the mirror completely?
  10. Love the new more stable and less wobbly flight model. Hope the reflections will be solved soon.
  11. Four Mustangs vs. four just trained Antons. 4v4 is impossible to play, it is always like this, just one "boom" and it's over.
  12. Your enthusiasm is awesome. For me, I was hoping they will make AI more realistic, but not this time. I see they are focusing on visual effects, like all game/simulator creators anyways, because that is what sells the product. I don't use VR, my computer doesn't support it, but I think I would rather prefer fixed view anyways. But I would love to see AI behaves like a real pilot and laws of physics apply to his aircraft too. I still feel that Mustang ammo is underpowered. Maybe they want to prove that "spraying" with ammo is ineffective, and we should use long bursts, but I shot this Anton from above, and from below, and from behind, and also with few longer bursts, but it still feels invincible. After his engine died, I think he should have crashed, his flying after that moment looks totally fake. In the end, I was following him with my engine running and I was struggling to maintain the altitude, while he flew in a complete straight path with his engine dead for so long like it's nothing, until he safely crash landed. Then I decided to collide with him, and both me and my plane exploded, while he just bailed out. And someone tell me he was not invincible. 13. This was very close.
  14. It looks odd that AI pilot just opens his canopy and flies in a straight path for emergency landing like he's on picnic, while the enemy aircraft is on his back shooting at him. It would look more realistic if he would fly down in a spiral pretending like he's going down, but then perform an emergency landing. I don't know what was fixed in beta, hope it will be better.
  15. Well, if I encounter with this when 2.7 arrives to stable version, I will surely post about it.
  16. I was using casual speech, didn't know you were that sensitive. NineLine asked me about the track with flying backwards, I just used a wrong quote. I don't know about the .50 cal, I feel it is underpowered, it feels more like .303, but if they say it should be like it is, then I have no experience with the real Mustang and .50 guns to know what it's like in the real life. I have figured out I just need a longer burst to be more effective, but I don't know why one long burst would be more effective than 4-5 short bursts. In CFS3, I used mostly Fw 190 A-8, because of its mighty four 20mm cannons and stability for ground attack, but there Fw 190 A-8 was one of the fastest aircraft, while here it is one of the slowest, which means probably a no for me. But it's got awesome textures, and looks adorable. The other problem is that swastikas are not shown, which makes it repulsive. In CFS3, I was using a custom fix which brought swastikas to all German aircraft. Also, a draw back is that default Fw 190 A-8 has that texture with the devil logo, which I don't want to use because I am Christian. But still, I kind of look at Fw 190 A-8 with nostalgia. The difference in gun effectivenes is HUGE. Just few hits with 20mm at my Mustang, and I'm almost done. But, why are you acting as an official, when you are not? This time the actual quote. Stable version. The first Anton flying backwards. It is a pandemic of flying backwards after I have recently changed disc and re-installed everything, maybe it could be because of new antivirus. But I sincerely got no clue what is on that track. Hope it works. first_anton_backwards.trk
  17. "I know" can have different meanings. As a customer, if I say "I know", that obviously means "I guess from my experience", since only the developers can literally know. Ok, I have gathered some courage, and saved a track. It is another Dora flying backwards after being fatally hit. If you see something else, please forget what you saw, and burn the track. open_at_your_own_risk.trk
  18. @Yo-Yo Sorry, you were actually right about the emergency landing, I have mixed this with Microsoft CFS3, where you needed to open the canopy to bail out, while here you have emergency release for the canopy. So, he opened the canopy for what, to jump off the plane after the emergency landing? OK, but that was funny. But no way a Fw 190 A-8 could glide for 5 minutes with his engine dead and canopy open in an almost horizontal path, and not only that, but to accelerate from 110 kts to 140 kts. I have tried to shut down the engine and glide with my Mustang, and I retained the speed at around 100-110 kts, but I didn't accelerate to 140 kts, and Mustang is more aerodinamically sound than Anton. And I had 50% of fuel, while he had 100% of fuel. Something doesn't look right there. But the important part regarding this topic is why my hits were ineffective? Should it be like that normally, or AI became invincible once he begun the emergency landing? If it was made like that, then this topic is right, and Mustang .50 cal guns provide insufficient shot damage. If you compare NineLine's video with mine, in his video Fw 190 A-8 went straight down after just one burst from behind. While in mine video Fw 190 A-8 suffered no damage after several bursts from behind. But he was using the beta version, and I am using the stable version, so maybe there is some difference.
  19. I didn't claim "I know it", I was just calling it "invincible", because it was virtually impossible for me to kill an AI aircraft after he lands, and I really thought it was something done by design. You are just being hostile for no reason and trolling me. It does matter what I think as a customer, because saved tracks are usually inaccurate, up to the point that they will show that AI shot down me when in reality I shot down him. Using saved track as a proof is SCARY. Thank God you are not an official. Man, can you see that the AI pilot opened his canopy to bail out after his engine died, but he got stuck flying in a straight path? And my bullets became completely ineffective after that moment? There was no emergency landing, AI just got stuck, and also became invincible to my bullets, until he crashed.
  20. So, you know for this bug and that it is corrected in beta, but you still say I am making things up, that makes you a troll. From my experience, recorded tracks are usually inaccurate, and I would never accept a recorded track as a proof. Anyways, I have managed to record a video of what I was talking about, and why I thought Mustang .50 cal guns were underpowered, while in reality they wre ok, just the AI was stuck in a way, and continued flying despite being shot down.
  21. I call your assuming that I am making things up rude. Nobody comes here to make things up. If I say something, that means I have encountered with it. What was the cause of it, that is the thing to discuss, and not to call people liars. Tracks are irrelevant, because they change, I never record tracks anymore because they are pointless, when I replay them, they differ from the actual flight. To post a video, it is also pointless, because it can be said that I just didn't hit the vital parts of the plane to shoot it down, which is probably true anyways. I have addressed a problem. The problem was not that the AI was flying backwards, the problem was that the AI aircraft would sometimes kept flying after it should have been destroyed, and no matter how much I hit him, he still continues flying. I don't have the video, because I didn't think at that time that I should be recording videos of bugs/glitches. I am saying what I have encountered with, and if you don't believe me without "proofs", than I don't need to be talking at all.
  22. Alright, I have tested it some more, and I have managed to kill a landed AI for the first time in a year. So, I was probably not hitting the vital parts before, and it seemed to me that the AI was invincible after landing. But I had such impression for a year. Maybe I have become better in aiming now. So everything is fine and works properly.
  23. I didn't make stuff up, AI becomes invincible after landing, it is impossible to destroy him while he is on the ground. I suppose that invincible AI mode sometimes somehow triggers before the landing. Ok, just for your pleasure, next time I will waste my time by uploading the track.
  24. I have noticed that when AI goes for landing, he can become invincible. I have just had such a case, didn't want to wait to upload to You Tube just for that purpose, but I followed a damaged Dora who was going for landing. Some 30 seconds before landing, I have put tons of ammo into him from a close range with my Mustang, but he just continued landing normally. I know that I can't destroy AI while he is on the ground, and I suppose it was done on purpose, can't understand why though. Is it possible that "landing invincible AI mode" could be turned on much before the actual landing? I think that might be the case. Damaged AI goes for landing, I hit him multiple times, but he is in some invincible landing mode, maybe even minutes before the actual landing, and so my hits are ineffective?
  25. I am running stable version. I don't have the track.
