Ah that makes sense now, so you apply filters to filters effectively. Now I know I need to try that out :D
-
So it's a bit like selecting an area feathering it somewhat then applying filters to that area except with better control and the ability to use several filters then edit them once they have been applied and others used upon them?
-
Thanks, am familiar with layers but never heard of these smart ones before - surely you can use the undo feature instead of the smart object layer? I can think of many ways around what I think this feature does.

Turkey is to the South of the Black Sea, or do you mean the Eastern Portion? Would this include new textures or would it be a case of same texture environment effectively but with a different mesh beneath?
-
That's incredible - where does he get the information to create that? not only is it extremely high poly but it's all animated to the acutest detail!
-
Heh no problem at all, I'm not too good at adding in different photos, it's so easy to get wrong, was thinking of using one of those grass effect brushes but those are so easy to spot in a picture :P. I'll make a mid range unsharp picture if you like;
-
Surely it depends what moment you take the picture? I presume it could flash quite brightly during the ignition stage and depending on the conditions glow as bright as in the game for awhile?
-
I tried that but I personally prefer without noise, the way I see noise is either a phony newspaper effect or a cheap way for people to hide anomalies and imperfections in their pictures. I'm all for clarity, since when do people see with noise in their eyes?
-
I'll give that a go soon for you but as was mentioned blurring requires some subject detail to work effectively I didn't like the original LOMAC background as a lot of work would be required to get that looking vaguely real, even editing in real backgrounds is hard as the lighting needs to be right a long with focus and various other effects, it's very easy for someone to see what's wrong but very difficult for someone to make things look right, maybe when I get better like rockwelder :D. As for the motion blur angle that was done deliberately as a flat blur would have been too boring and unnatural (it's rare you'll see perfect panning) the plane also was not flying truly level. Thanks for the critique everyone. By the way rockwelder how do you use the smart object layers and what exactly is it for? could you point me in the direction of a good tutorial for using it?

Spent about 30-40minutes on this project, I know a lot of the work might not be noticeable but the idea was to make it look real with out going over the top - other than the obvious blurring of the background I did a lot of dodge and burn work on the plane itself, e.g. the cockpit is noticeably edited. I also tried to make it look very clear rather then making it look more real by hiding computer effects using noise or bloom. Anyway I was having trouble trying to edit certain sections such as the mid-fuselage as this area is fairly bland and it's easy to over do the editing - anyone have suggestions on how to do that? Thanks for any critique.

Thanks for the link, downloaded at faster than my bandwith - nice to see my ISP give me the benefit of the doubt for once.

That video's a good one, recognised straight away by the awesome musical score.

I like this skin a lot, are you going to release it to the rest of us or has superkungfu been paying you? :D
-
Ah right thought I recognised the red stripe somewhere. I thought the new scheme had the camo and the original was plain?
-
Is this skin based on something or completely original?

Yeah I know what you mean about the shade - it's so that when you fly inside it your plane and the cockpit all go darker, I don't think they are normally effected by the shade of objects so a 3D block with a darker alpha texture was their solution. I can't think of any other reason for doing it that way. There's no need to add that effect though if it's too difficult.

Thank you, I don't mind - how many do most of the hangars have? It doesn't have to be that detailed unless you or someone else wants it that way.
-
If it's going to be anything like the Su25 damage model which I suspect it will be then I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Was thinking today after messing around flying through oil rigs that this game could really do with open ended hangars. Ones you can fly right through like in the James Bond film. They have them in IL2 as well (I seem to remember them having them). So I was wondering would anyone be able to cut a hole through the closed end of one of the current hangars, or build something completely new? Thanks.

This might be an odd request but could ED please NOT release Black Shark until after June 21st. I have exams 'til then and don't want to be distracted :D

But the wings on planes don't spin so why not on a helicopter?! Just kidding :D

What ven is saying is that each one of these frames is blurred thus you could not produce a clear animation of the rotors as is shown. Not that the video was carefully pieced together anyway - it's a real effect. Read up on simple harmonic motion and waves. http://www.motionmountain.net/

Helicopter rotors travel at constant RPM - it is the pitch of the rotor that affects how high it flies and the angle of the rotor dictates direction. Assuming you fly the aircraft in standard operation. There are other ways of flying it than that. The camera is not high speed (as some youtube comments would suggest) the frame rate is merely a multiple of π(pi) in phase - i.e. for every ten rotations of the blades the camera captures one frame (not necessarily that but an example). That's my theory anyway. I find youtube video comments amusing as some of them seem so sure they are right, nothing wrong with that but they have such odd theories - or absolutley refuse to believe simple laws of physics.

Why aren't they always fueled, would the fuel stagnate inside the missile and lose some of it's properties?

Would we really have time to be afraid, If a nuclear war broke out how long would it last? Never really considered the time span of it before.
