How to perform overhead break pattern in a crosswind?
SteelPig replied to Supernova-III's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
How heavy have you been in the pattern? How far above sea-level was the airport? How hot was the air? Since the flight-model overhaul I've noticed the Hornet tends to get fast in the base-turn when you are heavy and/or the air is hot like it can be in Nevada for example. When you decend in that turn like you've learned to do, you will get very fast very quick and overshoot the runway by far. -
Given the fact there is a FAQ on their Discord, but not in this forum I've decided to copy it in here so people can find it better. From the FAQ on Airplane Simulation Company Discord as by August the 2. : Q. Which variants are planned? A. Stage 1- C-130J Block 6.5 Hercules, Tactical airlifter C-130J-30, Lockheed Martin designation for its 15 ft (4.6 m) extended fuselage variant; designated CC-130J by USAF for a short time after 2002., Release timeline to be confirmed for the following at a later date: MC-130J, Designed for Air Force Special Operations Command. Originally named Combat Shadow II., Q. Are the C130H or legacy models planned? A. No. Q. What is the expected release date? A. By the end of 2025. Q. Will the C-130J be able to transport weapons? A. We intend for the C-130 to be able to carry any warehouse items between bases. Q. CNI/FMS? A. Yes, a fully simulated FMS is included. We have also modeled airways/SIDS/stars, etc. Q. MOAB? A. Yes! Q. Will there be an AC variant? A. Depending on sales, we will consider an AC / Harvest Hawk in the future. Q. Airdrops? A. Yes for cargo and vehicles. Paratroops will be added when ED puts them in game. Q. Multicrew? A. Yes, at least 3. Q. Cargo Loading/Unloading without needing scripts? A. Yes. Any cargo dropped or landed will be added to the DCS warehouse system. Q. What defensive systems will the plane have? A. The plane will have an RWR, MWS, and IIRCM systems. The fidelity levels of these are limited by both the availability of unclassified information on those systems, as well as DCS itself. Q. What skins will be available? A. The list is unconfirmed at the time as there are so many national operators, but the artist will produce a paintkit in the future, after release, for livery makers. Q. Will we add the fuel probe? A. Possibly in future after initial release Hope this one will prevent some confusion and give answers to people who aren't using Discord. As soon as a more official FAQ arrives, this one can be closed and put into archives.

I don't. Nobody forces you to grab the pre-order discount. Wait until you are sure.
-
I don't think so. You are fre to "risk" it and get a discount for, or you wait and pay the full price. You can't eat the cookie twice.

not planned How about more modern RED planes in FC standard?
SteelPig replied to Scorpion27's topic in DCS Core Wish List
No, I don't. Cause at the moment there is no final answer to the question what a video game is. There are some definitions, every one of them with it's own problems. My questions were a tool to show you the problems of the definition you offered. And I already told you that. -

SteelPig replied to Scorpion27's topic in DCS Core Wish List
If that fits for you, fine. But that doesn't define it has to fit for me too when I have arguments why it doesn't. You can label it trolling then, but what you do in fact is avoiding to answer the questions cause you don't want to think about it. And that's fine as well. But if you don't have to add something to the questions, then maybe just leave the discussion. -

Small sidepoint: Everything has rules. A rule doesn't need to be man-made to exist. -

So, PS5 has no video games? A podcast is a video game? Cause I listen via computer and start it via mouse and keyboard? I don't mean to troll you. I want to show the problems when you try to define things in a way it will be: 1. widely accepted 2. useful as a definition cause it tells you something about the nature of the subject. -
How about more modern RED planes in FC standard?
SteelPig replied to Scorpion27's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Sorry for that, but I think the reason why this becomes a rabbit-hole everytime is the fact that the terms doesn't tell what many people think they tell. So people can put into what they want and start arguing about the nature of DCS using this terms. -

Great link, but: All it does is outsourcing the question, cause: "A video game[a] or computer game[b] is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface or input device (...) " -

SteelPig replied to Scorpion27's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That's exactly the point. A pretty chart that doesn't tell you anything relevant. What does "video game" mean? How do you define it? What fits into this definition and why? And what not? -
How about more modern RED planes in FC standard?
SteelPig replied to Scorpion27's topic in DCS Core Wish List
To be honest, I don't know how helpful the terms "game" and "simulation" really are to explain what DCS is, what it's not and what it aims for. Cause, what IS a game? How do you define it? Doesn't DCS fit into thhis definition? And if it does, what does that really tells you? -
Yesterday they've announced an incomping update. Maybe look into the map after that and decide if it suits your needs.

If there is one game or 1000 with this problem doesn't matter. The Windows Defender has the false positive, that thing is build by Microsoft. So yelling at ED is just choosing the easier target.
-
The software not working as intended is the Windows-Defender. Cause that's the one triggering the false positive. So if you search for a tree to bark on, call Redmond.

How much does your DCS experience rely on community contributions?
SteelPig replied to Dangerzone's topic in Chit-Chat
No, most missions are build by us and the servers are our own. -

SteelPig replied to Dangerzone's topic in Chit-Chat
I fly in a squadron and we use SRS, DCS-DTC and a hand full of mods. Would we stop flying without them? No. But they make things easier and more interesting. -
Would be nice for Carrier Ops as well. So: +1

Is Osama bin Laden's compound located on this Map?
SteelPig replied to Ghostmaker's topic in DCS: Afghanistan
Probably it isn't, cause that's not the scope of the map. -
Depends on what Interview/Q&A you listen to. In some they say so, in others they say they looking into it. So at the end: We know pretty much nothing about this.
