12.01.2024 - Vulkan Progress | DCS Core | DCS Modules
SteelPig replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
Overall a really nice insight of what's on the list for 2024. But one thing worries me a little. The SuperCarrier part. Just stating the fact ED is working on things. Last years second newsletter told us Vulkan will be needed first for PriFly and ReadyRoom. I can't say I loved to hear this, but I was able to understand. And that's why I liked that newsletter so much to be honest. Now the newsletter tells us Vulkan will come 2024. But it doesn't say same about PriFly and ReadyRoom. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I would except that all this stuff is already finished as far as possible and just waiting for Vulkan to be implemented. I mean, in May it would be 4 years since EA-release. Can someone clarify this a little maybe? -
Right, there isn't a hard requirement. I never said there is one. But who wants to exlude this customers? There is a reason why there are so many maps with enough water for carrier ops.
-
Why not? Wouldn't be the first time for us.
-
As I said before: When NTTR was made, Carrier Ops wasn't a thing in DCS. Now it is,and it would be a questionable decision to build a map where you can't do propper carrier ops given the fact how many players use these modules.
-
You can joke as much as you want, my reasons for drawing it that way are written down. P.S. You are aware of the fact ED is bulding a technology to make way more possible? We don't know what the technology can do in 2024 and what it can't.
-
NTTR came our long before Hornet, Tomcat and Supercarrier. And the gulf was my main reason to draw my wish for the scope of iraq map as big as I've done.
-
Probably I should. The big question is: Will ED make a map where you can't really use an aircraft carrier?
-
We don't know how big this map will be. So "focused on Baghdad" can be the triangle Bagdad-Tikrit-Falludjah, or it can be the whole northern part of the country. We just don't know.

Ein Live Produkt wird niemals fertig. Es wird dauerhaft erweitert und bugfixed. Und die Standartuser bemerken die allermeisten Bugs gar nicht. Ist an sich ähnlich wie z.B. bei Windows selbst. Schaut mal in einschlägige Foren. Was kam waren Core-Verbesserungen. "Weniger neues raus bringen, mehr am Core arbeiten" zieht also mal so gar nicht. Trennung. Was gabs denn nun am Trailer selbst zu bemängeln? Natürlich kann man im Vorfeld erwarten von 25 neuen Modulen weg geblasen zu werden. Ist dann halt der sichere Weg enttäuscht zu werden. Und nebenbei gesprochen wäre das dann wieder "jede Menge neues Zeug ankündigen", was ja auch alle doof finden. Also was hatten wir? Also, was fehlte?

What I've seen in the announcement in 2024 and beyond video are mountains. And there is one region in Iraq with mountains. The north. Borderlands to Iran and Turkey.
-
My wish for the scope of iraq map. Yepp, it looks pretty large at first. But with roughly 2,7 million square kilometers it's smaller than South Atlantic map ( 3.1 million square kilometers) and some time ago ED said, it's not the pure size of a map whats holding back in first place anymore, but the amount of assets. And at this point I just hope the mentioned upgrades of the development kit could allow such a map.

Why the weapons limitations on the Hornet?
SteelPig replied to Beirut's topic in Military and Aviation
As a Navy Jet, all ordnance and other equipment (like targeting pods) you wanna put under a Hornet needs to pass the "Carrier Check". That's for example the reason why the Navy doesn't use the LITENING Pod. It's not approved for carrier operations. After that there is the question: "Do we need it?" Would this weapon fit into our mission set? Do we have other weapons already with similiar capabilitys? Would it close a gap of abilitys? And at the end of all this: What would the integration cost? -
Next level racing HF8 haptic seat pad & DCS
SteelPig replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think about bying one since a few months, but I am not totally sure if it can do what I hope it would do. So I came here to ask the ones who already use it. How good can I "feel" my jet with this? Do I feel when I roll? Do I feel how much AoA I am giving with my stick in Doghfight? Just, how much of the so hardly missed feeling for the plane can be added by this pad? Thanks for any answers! -
You can add insurgents on "combined task force blue" and on "combined task force red". In the effect that's what you want I guess.

missing track file CPG display glare - literally unplayable
SteelPig replied to al531246's topic in Bugs and Problems
4 months later and still no trackfile from you. No arms,no cookies! -
Thats why: Source:
-
That's right. I was hoping too,but we have to wait a little longer.
-
I did. And in the end all we do is to speculate. So,nothing is clear like you said. That's my point
-
It's not. It's written there "Note that it could take up to 4-6 weeks" . It could. You read this as a statement in regards to the way we have to go for the next OB patch. That's okay. But it could be read as a statement about the implementing and testing cycles in general as well. So, nothings clearly here for me.
-
We can. It's called FAC(A) (Forward Air Controller (Airborne) ) Every LaserSpotTrack can see every Laser as long as the code fits and he is in range.
-
If any, the effect will be more workload for cpu.

solved Dcs Freezes randomly sometimes up to 25 seconds at a time.
SteelPig replied to thekow's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Checked your CPU temperature? I have a pretty similiar problem right now, and I discovered my CPU just gets to hot.
