  1. Tell this the Navy-Squadrons who flew sorties over Afghanistan. ^^
  2. The Lancaster Mod will prove the market for WW2 Bombers so Devs can decide if it could be a thing. Same as with the C-130. So wait a little, let the Mod come out and see how it will perform download-wise.
  3. Moin!
  5. Interesting how sure you are "the community" wont agree, and you are the one who can tell.
  6. The obvious thing here is: You've missed the point.
  7. That is an extreme pity. In the trailer the map looked fantastic, but without the ability to use my main module in a propper way I can't see much sense for me to own this map. And we are losing an important part of the whole "war on terror" issue in general. I was hoping the tech can do more in 2024. But I'm sure the devs would love to do more themselves if only they could. Oh, but the long flight thing: Not even 300 NM from the southern border to the coast. In my squadron we fly those missions every week and keep on station for a few hours often with a few visits at the tanker.
  8. That's exactly what I have in mind. And what I would like to know before I decide to buy.
  9. While I agree to your statement overall, the take about "a few months" is pretty optimistic.

    Indian Ocean

+1 No need for high detail in these areas. I would fly over at around 30k anyways.
  11. All I see is a yellow box, and this is roughly half of the size of PG.
  12. I've noticed that Afghanistan Map will be rather small in EA release, roughly half of the PG Map. Is that cause uncertainties regarding new tech used?
  13. They say they are working on. That's all we know.
  14. That's called the burble. It's an effect thanks of the island. On the picture below you can see when it starts and what effects it has in what part of the groove.
  15. That's awesome! The thing I wonder about: The base is outside of the area the map covers currently. So that means the map will be expanded to the south a little?
  16. Really nice to see this bunch of love for the Hornet! Is it planned to bring all of that in the next patch, or is this more a general information about what's going on?
  17. Insurgents are exactly what the word says. People who rise up against something, usually an occupier. They very often choose guerrilla tactics, but this does not define the term. Nor does the type of weapons they use define either insurgents or guerrillas. At Dien Bien Phu, the Viet Minh shot French troops together with artillery. The militias in Syria and Iraq, which are close to the Revolutionary Guards, use drones. And the uprising does not necessarily have to be carried out by a small group of unorganized people. They usually rely on existing structures or create them over a long period of time. There is a tendency to call this a militia, although this term is clearly regulated under international law and by no means all groups that are often referred to as militias fulfill the requirements. The available arsenal does not define the insurgents. They are defined by their way of fighting and the fact that they do not operate fully within the framework of international law. They will use whatever material they can get. In their own way, but they will use it.
  18. -Improvised rocket launchers/mortars in the soil. -Anti ship missiles (ask the houthis or hezbollah) -civil drones with payloads -IED's -AK's of all kinds, G3's, -tanks -trucks -AA Insurgents CAN be guys in pyjamas. But they can also be damn well equipped.
  19. That's an impressive amount of new models and fixed or added things. Your work makes the DCS environment so much more rich and divers! I assume for now other packs will come first, but if you come back to the China asset pack someday, I would love to see chinese coast guard units and maybe some maritime militia ships if possible. Oh,and regarding to packs: How about something like "insurgents asset pack"?
  20. If you have such a bad time flying on speed, don't start with landing on the carrier. Start with setting and maintaining on speed in a straight flight or if you want in overhead pattern. When you are good in that, then come back to the carrier.
  21. I don't think that will be a question about "this or that". Yes, there will be a lot going on with PTO, and many of us wants PTO to stay. But that doesn't mean necessarily the European theatre will be forgotten. There is still so much room for new maps. CentralEurope/Germany when we maybe get WW2 Bombers. Eastern front. Africa. There will be the market for these maps, and therefore someone will build them some day.
  22. That's why most squadrons have at least one guy who has the black belt in mission editor and does all that stuff. And I don't know how usefull the dynamic campaign engine will be in this regards. Will it be able to modulate political tensions under the bar of a hot conflict? I don't think so! For me,as the guy with the black belt in my squadron, the spherical earth map would give so many opportunities. And if it gives me the opportunities, it gives them to the whole squadron. Cause I can create experiences for them with these tools.
  23. You can do a lot with the existing maps. But, there are a lot of things you can't. Seamless transition from your homeplate NAS Lemoore to a Carrier 100 NM offshore? Nope. A cruise in the South China Sea? Nope. CAS for OIR in the eastern parts of Syria? Nope. Attacks on the Houthis in western Yemen? Nope. And it is totally fine if none of that bothers you. But be aware there are people out there who do.
  24. You are right, but it's same as with iraq map. If you expand the Afghanistan-map down to south you can have the gulf of oman and it's entry and it still would be smaller than the 3.1 million square kilometers the SA map has. So,we just don't know what is planned nor what is possible at the moment with the existing tech. Let's hope for the best.
