  1. It's doable. You risk departing if you do more than 3 much like the real thing. CF18 Demo Manual is unclass in the public domain. Maneuvers described generally work as they should. 25 degree AOA stick, roll, and rudder. I started mine out a bit messy this run as I haven't practiced them in a while, but second 360 worked out. https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/about/initiatives/airshow/CF-18_Fighter_Demonstration_Manual.pdf Desktop 2024.08.11 - 14.33.50.01_3_1.mp4
  2. Getting massive stutters too. Changing mouse poll rate does nothing. I'm not running VR. Edit. I think I may have solved mine by a clean install of video card drivers and turning Windows dynamic monitor refresh to off. Not sure which one did the trick.
  3. Here's another track. The point is that HUD Designation behaves as if the ball and chain are there regardless of the weapon. Select zero weapons and it behaves the same way. Designating from CCIP designates as if the ball and chain are there too, half way up the bomb fall line. You'll also notice the ball and chain pops up briefly when switching from CCIP to AUTO with nosewheel steering. HUD Designation 2.trk
  4. It's not CCIP. It's HUD/HMCS designation. You can use the HUD to designate in AUTO mode. Designating using the HUD is working just without the symbology. Tactical Pocket Guide directs you to assign TDC to HUD for employment. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/178838-fa-18c-pocket-checklist/?do=findComment&comment=3518866
  5. And it designates as if it was there about 7 degrees below the FPM.
  6. It's the ball and chain HUD designation. Sensor Control Switch up to use the HUD and HMCS to designate without a designation. It will shorten in proportion to the angle of dive and speed, and be in line with the FPM in steeper dives, which is my work around for now. It works fine for conventional bombs, but not for Mavericks or JDAMs. It seems to be coded the same as it will designate around 7 degrees below the FPM in level flight, but without the symbology. It hard to visually designate a target in the HUD without it.
  7. Ball and chain, the Displayed Impact Line is missing. It designates as if it's there below the FPM in level flight but without the symbology so there's no pipper for designation.
  8. HUD Designating with Mavericks or JDAMs in level flight. TDC Designates below the FPM by approximately 6-7 degrees. I believe "ball and chain" symbology is missing for HUD designation with the above weapons selected. The fact that Designating in a dive by depressing the TDC, Designates directly under the FPM confirms this. HUD Designation AGM and Jdam.trk
  9. Here's what I discovered. Bombs of the same type and delivery method have to have all the same fuse settings otherwise they will dud. The DSU33 needs a tail fuse with it, and what I gather from online sources it needs the FMU-139/152, its just a sensor and not a fuse. Pairing it with a tail plug will cause a dud. The FMU-140 for CBU99's you need to select VT2 rather than VT1. VT1 causes them to burst right away regardless of what you set in HT. MK339 is working correctly.
  10. Rockeyes and CBU99's burst on launch too regardless of fuse type and setting.

Our goal is "Tactical Realism" without going full milsim. We follow realistic procedures and tactics but recognize this is not your job. Our desire is to be objective focused with the main objective being enjoying this hobby together. We want to weed out immaturity and those who put the minor details ahead of that objective. Everyone has a different level of knowledge and experience. The focus should be on Airmanship and Decision Making based on that individual knowledge and experience. We at the 13th JSOT are experienced in various aviation backgrounds, from military aviation engineers to civilian airline pilots. We have experience creating and running successful Air Combat Simulator groups, and effective training within DCS. We will be operating in a democratic fashion. Contributing to the server upkeep or in other ways will get you a say in the direction of the wing. We'd like to eventually include AIC/ATC through Lot ATC. 18. I’ll report something completely different. I have the smoothest performance on Mariana’s. Even loaded up Andersen with +60 statics, and +30 AI aircraft all departing at the same time, base defences, etc. Ran a Pearl Harbour type test with +1000 units on a server. Server ran it better than PG or Syria, and not a dip client side. Smoothest performance I have ever seen flying off the supercarrier. Settings at max, except no SSAA. I don’t run VR. Watch it here. Tacview is a performance hog if you have it running. I also found DCS to like Nvidia's Ultra Low Latency Setting set to Ultra. Doubled my frame rate.

  23. I fly an airplane with high-bipass ratio turbo fan engines. The certification requirement for civil aviation from flight idle to take-off power is 5 seconds. Often they perform better ~4 seconds and change. I've tested the hornet and its ~6 seconds to MIL from flight idle. Way too slow. Even 5 seconds is a long time, try counting it and imagine the ground is coming up fast. If you're coming off turbo-props you notice the power doesnt respond as quickly resulting in popping overhead bins and a bruised ego on your first landing attempt after getting the type rating. One of the advantages of low bipass ratio engines is they spool faster at the cost of increased noise. Ground idle to Go Around thrust with the CFM56 can take 12 seconds as it tries to protect the engines. One of the reasons we allow to engines to spool a bit on the ground before applying takeoff power, and why it takes a few seconds for the engines to go to ground idle with WOW. If youve ever done touch n goes in an airliner you eat up a lot of runway before you see any power if it goes into ground idle.
  24. I experienced CTD using SEA mode with Harpoons in Range and Bearing. I had A/A cursor's in SEA mode, locked on brick. Then Sensor Control Switch to track. Launched Harpoon, immediate CTD.
