  1. I seriously doubt that. I mean, it is really hard to imagine how much work it would mean to replace that, especially if you are not trained, it would prolly take four to five years, and you couldnt just make a part of it, or the code would break. But it is all in there, in the sounds folder, the voice files and the sdefs. If someones feels like doing that, by all means, knock yourselves out. Mods are generally awesome, but this task is likely a bit beyond what modders can or should invest in terms of free time. Plus you'd need someone who knows at least basic acting, and someone who knows how to direct to match the jokes, emotions, feel, etc, or it would sound very jarred very quick... To give you an idea, when we started with this I had 5+ years directing experience in various theatres, 10+ years acting experience, 5+ years coaching experience for actors, 20 years experience writing and translating literature, Grayson had prolly 10+ years voice acting experience, etc. The balancing act was not only to write and record Jester, but to write and record him so that he has a range of emotions, which when arbitrarily mixed together, still don't jarr. And that's basically all in my head, and difficult to share. Foks who can do that, cost also a lot of money, and from experience would not sign up for a project like that for nothing, probably not even as die hard DCS fans, much less even when not being a DCS fan at all.
  2. Then this is your issue I would say: the carrier turning. Until we implement wheel chocks (at least functionally), the best way to avoid it, is to have the carrier turn after alignment is complete.
  3. Let me check with the boys: Yeah, sorry, they said no.
  4. There will likely be F4 specific voice calls, yes.
  5. If the mission is pre 2.8 try resaving it. Sometimes full .x version jumps can cause issues.
  6. Also Jester does it for you.
  7. This is unfortunately not going to happen. 11.000 voice calls to re-record ... is about 3 years of work. Both financially and timewise this is not possible, which is why the F4 will also have the same voice. And it would not only mean re-recording, but recreating a new personality, new jokes, a new emotional spectrum, etc etc... Sorry to disappoint here.
  8. A list of several Tomcat specific callsigns is planned already and in the works with ED. IIRC Ghostrider is one of them.
  9. Doubtful they'll give it, depending on what you requested, but with ITAR stuff - it is difficult to say the least.
  10. We checked all carrier cold starts, with and without ASH, with and without Jester, all works fine. Maybe something is off with the mission you are using, not sure, but our testers cannot reproduce your issue on latest OB.
  11. Datalink logic is purely ED side. The limit of displaying 8 targets only, however will remain, no matter the logic.
  12. We just verified with multiple testers. No issues at all. This seems like your INS is borked for some reason, as the Lantirn uses its own GPS, hence Lantirn is fine, while HSD is off. We'll check with carrier start cold start, too.
  13. If you say so, only that my post referred to one specific fix, in one specific patch, which broke one specific thing, and has absolutely nothing to do with "backtracking". bug fix introduced error -> bugfix adjusted to fix what it was supposed to fix minus the error.
  14. Stinger is for SAM launch. When this thread was made, was before we fixed Jester calling missiles too far out and in an environment where many launches were happening this resulted in too many stinger calls.
  15. The issue is that we cannot assign individual drag to stores. The windtunnel stations should produce practically no drag at all.
  16. They are instant action missions. Those are all worth checking out, too, btw. We treat instant action more like quickstart, rather than "hop in medias res", which ofc is also offered plenty in the IA missions. You also have fear the bones and zone 5 demo missions there, etc etc. For example both training day and watching the devildog were first created as instant action missions hehe.
  17. It is on the centroid, which is the ideal lead for all targets. Ofc an experienced RIO can optimize this by using functions like mand attack and do not attack to optimize the weighting and thus centroid, or, in absence of that, centering the priority target on the TID ofc can help as well. However on long distance targets and normal prio cues, that are not on the opposite gimbals, it is usually good enough vs something like firing completely off the steering cue or from full gimbal, etc.
  18. Agreed, FAC in the Tomcat is great, we also added the role in the mission editor. As for TARPS - that is a recce pod and not suitable for FAC though. It takes photos, and later on you analyze the fotos. For example for BDA, or "what ships are in the harbor" or take a picture of an enemy base, etc etc. What does the FAC script do for the OV-10? I never tried either myself, would love to know more. Thank you!
  19. If your missile is turning during climb out, you did something wrong. As our SME advised everyone here: fire on the T, precisely. Nothing else. And if it is turning because the target is maneuvering, means you are close range, and you should have been in STT anyway. There is no such thing as full gimbal shots in the phoenix, it is not an amraam. If there is, it is pilot error.
  20. None, according to this. "Estimated based on flight test." With a 10% error margin, quite likely. Else, it got tested for 2.5 (specific conditions unknown), was speed limited to 1.8 or 1.9, can't remember, and then there is ofc the "hotrod" story, which took place at angels 40, if it is true, and the rest of the conditions are also unknown, for example loadout. Per our SMEs, attempting and verifying top speed was just not a thing. Mostly you'd hang out at 250kts IAS on your station, trying to save some fuel so you could train some BFM on RTB. But if you want to achieve top speed in DCS, being around 40k is a safe bet.
  21. Currently the lofting is pretty much as it should be in most cases for the phoenix. The idea of more shallow loft = more energy, is simply wrong in the 54's case. It is supposed to loft high, which helps it with terminal velocity. Could lofting logic overall be improved in DCS? Likely, but that is not a 54 specific problem, and it wouldn't make it loft less necessarily. It really doesn't. Just compare a 25nm shot with and without loft. It's a thick missile struggling in thick air, so any higher altitude it can get, generally helps it. The mid to short range overlofting has been fixed couple patches ago. It seems counterintuitive, but isn't. Also, if you are shooting closer ranges top down, then STT is the way to go anyway. PSTT your target, and you get a) an active missile off the rails and b) no loft. But anything above 20nm the loft will still help.
  22. Another thing, Maxsin, you need to realize that BFM performance will not noticeably change. I am getting the impression that some folks want it to be back to what it was immediately after release, where it overperformed, and that has been fixed since 3 years or longer even. Being within 3% is insanely accurate for an FM, and if we bring it down to maybe 1-2%, that is almost unheard of. But the margin will be so small, that it will not change anything, really. It simply is what it is. That is something that needs to be accepted. Whether the F18 overperforms or not in DCS, I do not know, some think it does, but none of them ever flew one, and those who did won't tell you. It could be, but it also could not be. The F18 is simply good in BFM, and that, too, needs to be taken into account. That said, it is always the pilot who wins over another pilot in BFM, never the aircraft, unless both pilots are of the same skill, which is rare, and even then, one will make a mistake sooner than the other. Hence skills are always best tested in the exact same aircraft. The higher your skill, the "lesser" aircraft you can "wield" against a higher performing aircraft. But imho all these BFM tournaments are a little bit nonsensical, because they are not in categories. And the categories should be always several of the same aircraft type, so F18 vs F18, F16 vs F16, F14 Vs F14... you get the idea + a mixed category, where it is a free for all. In that category, there should be no restrictions, and everyone should be allowed to set up as he wants, fuel, pylons, no pylons, flaps, no flaps, whatever, that is the idea of a free for all. Think you can win within 30 seconds (as you should)? Bring 20% fuel. Miscalculate and you are done. And so on and so forth. But that is how I would do it, and as mentioned, we don't mix in how others do their events. Or, you know, you can always bring an A-10 and murder everyone hahaha.
  23. The wing pylons do not penalize you at all. They are part of the F14 and its aerodynamic profile.
  24. Make sure DLC is engaged. Without it wont work.
