I would think that it would make more of a difference within large formations than small flights. Given the fact that most missions (I personally have played) are 2 ship formations, not sure how much of an advantage it is but if there is no loss of quality in the skins then I guess you have nothing to loose. As for if the game converts the file to 16 bit again, well I really cant comment on it. There is also the possible result of the skin not showing at all.

A flight sim with all your favorite jets here!!
Bungle_uk replied to JonTex's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have sfp1 and I must admit, i do quite like it. I think it has a lot of potential. It is like many have said a "lite" sim so dont expect complex systems. It is currently one of the few sims where I can fight an f-14. It is also about the only combat sim with the harrier to have true thrust vectoring. There have recently been some good third party cvn addons too (WOV) has them already but sfp1 didnt. Multiplayer hasnt really took off yet but again I am hoping this area will change. The problem is that due to the nature of how easily it is modded with extra aircraft etc.. All clients must have EXACTLY the same aircraft as the host. This is a bit of a fuss to sort out but not impossible. -
Well hopefully they will reintroduce the ability to lock the loadouts again in a future patch. This way, missions can be setup so the f-15 has maximum of 2 amraams and maybe 4 sparrows. It ensures you have to be a little more careful when firing maybe limiting yourself to one at a time to force bandit defensive then close in for a sparrow kill Like i said though "Hopefully" nothing has been confirmed to my knowlege Coming backon topic (Sortof) I think missions with awacs on both sides as oppose to ewr on both sides would be better as some aircraft only have awacs callouts for bandit reference. With EWR, su27, mig29A(S) would have datalink and a10, f-15, su25(T) and mig 29G (Dont think this has datalink) would have no extra info

As far as programming goes. Lockon has quite an advanced button mapping system so you dont "have" to program the stick, you can just leave it as is and use lomacs button mapping. However I dare say u can do more again using a specific profile (programme)

well, I am by no means an expert (not even close) but could the aiming point be a little high to help loft the missile? you didnt say what range the engagement was at.
-
Pudknocker, please dont post such pictures, I find them offensive and they give me nightmares :)

Linear axis in short means that there is no response curve on that axis. i.e. what you do on the stick is directly inputted into the sim. Response curves can be set up so the controls are less sensitive in the lower ranges of input. Hope that made some sense. Please note, the other aircraft in lomac are best with a response curve (non-linear) so if you fly all aircraft, you may have to alter the settings when u fly the su25(T) or try and get something that is suitable to both.

IIRC this happens whenever there are ships present in the mission

Another good tactic is to stay above 10000ft, this keeps you out of range of the shilka and the strella too I think, use mavs and ccrp to take out the air defences, then you can come in lower for strafing runs etc.. As for missile evasion, it depends on what range you have been fired on from. Generally though, the best tactic is to turn and run as fast as you can, pumping chaff and flare

to be honest, that screenshot looks like an f-16 mod maybe, however, I am sure they knew they were using it.

I must admit, I liked it when servers classified the mission. It made it more challenging when you were limited to only 2 amraams or so. Could it not be possible to declassify all the stock single player missions and bring back the old system, this way single players can choose if they want to change there load and servers can enforce limited loads should they so please, after all. They are the ones paying the money to run the servers. Just my thoughts on it.

VVS504 Dedicated Server New Pilots Day.
Bungle_uk replied to 504MrWolf's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I disagree. If they know where the plane is (by the labels) it will help them to learn where to point the radar to find it -
I was just wondering what u all thought the best movie of all time was. For me, it has to be superior fighters by glowing amraam with ghostriders a close second... love that out-take. Please post your selection and author. A link too would be great if possible

One last thing to point out, eos does NOT know friend from foe, it cant tell enemy heat from friendly. Make sure you know what your shooting at. Unfortunatley, the only way to tell iff is to turn the radar on unless I am mistaken.

hats off gentlemen goodbye <S>
Bungle_uk replied to S77th-Souless's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Take a break for a while Souless. Will miss you in HL. I sincerley hope you will re-think your decision when 1.11 arrives (or sooner) <S> -
they are the outer marker beacons and inner marker beacons. I believe most airports have them

As far as i am aware, it is not possible to convert a mdl file (fs format for aircraft) back to its original form. Even if it were possible, there would still be a substantial amount of work to be done (retagging, lods, damage etc..) The other thing fs has in its favour is the ability to use gmax to create aircraft etc.. Most people simply cant afford the price tag of 3dsmax If it were possible to use gmax for lock on, i think there would a few more people working on stuff (myself being one of them.) some aircraft for fs are created with 3dsmax but its usually the payware aircraft eg lagos tornado. It would be nice to think they would let us use it but I really cant see them giving away the source file for it when its a payware release anyway. (be great if they did though :) )

couldnt this be done by a simple texture change/mod? Of course finding the texture could be a little difficult, needlle in a haystack springs to mind:)
-
I think you misunderstood what ghostrida was asking for here viper. As far as I can see, he is asking for a "touch and go" waypoint for AI aircraft to use. I can sort of understand why he wants it but i personally feel there are more important features/fixes that need to be worked on than this. Just my opinion

Vidéo Dobberman "Holding hands"
Bungle_uk replied to dobberman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Awesome! :) -
Yes, second that

No, your activations will not start again. You can download the program as many times as you like. The copy protection system analyses you hardware configuration. If this changes then you have to reactivate the software. your hardware configuration is pretty much unique so unless he has an identical system then a reactivation will be required. once he has done this then you would have to reactivate when you next ran the sim. Good to hear he is getting his own anyway :)

Most fuel efficient Speed/Height ?
Bungle_uk replied to Brit_Radar_Dude's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
well, the aircraft may pump fuel from one tank to another to maintain the aircrafts center of gravity. It may be a completley automated procedure. I think most airliners have this capability. Of course I could be completley wrong on this too :) -
err... Correct me if i am wrong but you cant use gmax for making models for lomac..or can you?
-
Yes, it is most likley illegal and secondly, his hardware configuration would differ significantly from yours. therefore each time you played you would have to reactivate. 15 activations wouldnt last long in this case.
