Are you specifying the method you want the panels done to the company doing the cutting/engraving? If not do you know what materials they plan on using? You can see on the forums how people have done different things with the laser from painting acrylic and then engraving on the paint and removing it to using specialised materials that were developed for laser engraving. Just be aware that between you and the guy with the laser who may not have done this particular thing before there may be a few attempts to get it right, which is time and money for him. The other things to remember is if you want to have backlighting. If so the materials and plans may be different than your supplier expected or the plans you can acquire. Anyway, part of the point os that there are a few things to be aware of that are easily overlooked until the job is done and you find the panels are not meeting your expectations. If you want some pictures of parts to show your guy then pm me and I can help out so its easier to explain to him pictorially what you need done.

if you search on ali express you will find a lot of tactile ones for 5 cents. If you want better quality then I would keep to digikey or similar so you know when they say 300,000 cycles thats what it is. A bit more expensive but OK.

Oh, I understand, I misunderstood entirely what you wanted to do. The number and location of monitors will really depend on how you do the mip. if its life sized then a monitor wont streacth across everything and you may have to have separate monitors for each mfd, then gauges, and cdu. You run out of monitors fairly fast. The approach I am taking for myself, for now, is to have one monitor with all the gauges and another smaller, 4.3" screen for the cdu. Thats five in total. If you have three for the main view and you need another for the cdu then it really gets tricky how you use only two for the mip. I dont think it can be done for a realistic layout so you may as well go with helios. At least thats an easy way to do it.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99092 also this one http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106911 the first post has a youtube link, the desription in the youtube description has his website where you can see an extension. These are the only two I know who are currently selling
-
It is possbile, best way is to do it with helios imo. Three monitors for views but I would arrange the other three helios monitors as left console, mip, right console. As demonstrated here

That facility is if you want to use his boards in your own products and want them to show up as something other than his name, e.g. show up in the computer as XYZ SIMs etc. He will do that for orders more than 10 from memory.

Frank, it looks like the actual handle needs to be disassebled somehow to use the extension, i.e. it looks like the nut and connector usually on the handle has been removed and used at the bottom of the extension. Is this a reversable procedure?

Very tidy work! What do you do about toe brakes though? -
Any reason why this wouldnt work?
metalnwood replied to USAFMTL's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Actually, the pixel density on a 16" with that resolution is slightly better than 1920 on a 24" so it will be a little crisper - but smaller too. -
Hi Frank, I see, yes I am familiar with how it feels when I was playing around. I assumed for yours it wouldn't hold itself center with the offset of the stick because of the bend but I never experimented with any bend on mine. It's coming along well.

I'd suggest there is more than an extension but sme addition or modification to the base to stiffen it up, that extension would be falling by itself to the seat if there wasn't.

I dont use target for anything, it would be a pita to set it all up from scratch when DCS recognises it and already has everything mapped. I map my teamspeak to the spare input on the throttles radio hat and you could map track IR centre to the same radio hat push if you want. For zoom I use the big paddle at the front as a modifier as its not mapeed to anything by default. I then use it as a modifier with the trim pitch hat for zoom in and out. all done in dcd, no target.

True different ideas of what they do. Thats OK. I just wish this guy would not feel the need to express his opinion over and over with no benefit to anyone who has been interested in the topic. He adds nothing except his own grandiose. He hasnt been here very long but the only places I see him post are in threads he has no interest on the topics except to pound out as many times as he can views that no one really cares about. Thankfully he is the only one around I can think of like that right now.

Ahh, you have a das? it brushes up your typing skills for those keys you dont access as often :)

I wondered about making the parts for dzus fasteners on the lathe, just to get the looks of it. I guess if there are a hundred screws I could knock them out in a couple hours. Boring job though! The other alternatives I looked at before were cup washers, like this http://hiq.co.nz/plastic-components.htm just look down a little bit, they will only be a couple cents each and are available m3, m4, m5 etc. Just lie them all down and spray them black, pop in the bolt and you wont know the difference from the looks
-
No, you have the whole world in front of you, a canvas much larger than triples will ever give you, much, much larger. No comparison. you may not be able to see that thing out of the corner of your eye that you cant recognise anyway. Good luck to you. I have 3 27's on my small rig, the FOV is nothing like the rift is. Anyway, no point in keeping on debating the same thing with you, we are each entitled to our own opinion, of course it would be nice to leave the thread alone and not jump in every other page with how it all sucks unless you have been quoted directly.

What bolt size for the HOTAS Warthog plates?
metalnwood replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I see, in that case you probably dont want the large base of the stick bolted on to the small plate on your right side. It should be easy to take off the plate from the hog. The plate will then have the four holes matching the bolt pattern. Use this as a template to drill some holes on your sim chair plate and with some new m4 bolts, screw in from the underside. I dont believe you can reuse the bolts from other plate as they are countersunk and possibly not long enough. -
What bolt size for the HOTAS Warthog plates?
metalnwood replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Depends, are you taking the joystick off the square plate it comes with? If so then you need metric M4 bolts, nothing else will do. If you are bolting the stick down using the plate it already has then whatever fits, looks like m5 from a previous post. -
Have you not read the thread? There has been recognition since day one of the dev kits that the resolution would not bee good enough to sell as a product. Its like someone came here and vindicated your only view that the resolution was not good and thats the end of it. The resolution is not the technology. How was the FOV for you? You must remember you cant look at these screen shots on your desktop and say there is no FOV, triple is better. you have to imagine that everything is life size and consuming your view. To me, the look of the huey is entirely convincing of what you would see and how much of the cockpit you would see when sitting in one.

Not You Mnemonic I am sure, you see the issues with the current state rift and thats fair enough, it has to make progress to be a better alternative than some options we have now. I am guessing he was talking about Robert who cant seem to grasp the benefit if the rift had a perfect implementation.
