Campaign for DCS OH-58D: "Through the desert dust"
Blazkovitch replied to YoYo's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I only started playing yesterday but I've one small suggestion: add support for OVGME/OpenModManager. It would simplify installation of the mod immensly. If necessary ping me via DM and I can tell you what to do. Dzieki, fajnie sie zapowiada- 97 replies

you are confusing negativity with disappointment. And look who’s talking about exploring things instead of writing on a forum

Sure. Assuming that the newsletter is only for US-based audience. Otherwise it’s as exciting as last year’s snow.

That’s it?

So maybe additional options like night, morning, afternoon, golden hour?

Is this change impacting your life so much that you have to reschedule something or drastically change plans? Things happen and plans change. Life...

Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon detail removed
Blazkovitch replied to Flying Toaster's topic in Bugs and Problems
My impression is that ORT implemented something they were not supposed to and for some strange reason UgraMedia told them to remove it after a year. I'd maybe ask UM why now? I'm just pointing out that people are complaining about removal of things they were not supposed to receive in the first place. Also, as pixie pointed out it may not necessarily be UM that told ORT to remove something. 3rd party may also pertain to an intelligence agency or something similar. All I'm saying that I don't know what's going on and usually in this situation it is better to sit and wait than to cry about a game. "Why you heff to be mad? It's only a game..." -
Seems that ED dropped the ball in the testing department… once again. https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/543014378643914752/1271547206113165373

To be fair, only the Southern Israel is included in the map’s description… -

Maybe just wait for an explanation before going into weird conspiracies? -
Is there a way to assign different profiles for VR and 2D mode in the launcher?

3rd party modules are provided in a binary form as far as I understand. I wouldn't expect anyone to read asembly in order to find bugs. And we can clearly see that at least one third party is not doing any code reviews. This is mainly because humans have been constructings things for the last... oh, several thousand years while computing is really a matter of the last 80 years or so? And building a bridge is much easier than understanding what computer does because in civili engineering everything can be thoroughly simulated and the laws of physics generally do not change on a daily basis. Only if you can provide a specification that covers every aspect of the program and is generally considered extremely expensive. Good luck with doing that for a game. And clearly there are no bugs in spacecrafts (1201 and 1202 alarms in AGC), issues caused by speculative aspects of CPUs, very subtle bugs in multithreaded programs, bugs in CPU microcode, etc, etc.

How would that help?

How would you prove that the game does not crash after 01/01/2025? It is a showstopper, right? Of course, you could run the game with a clock set to a certain date in the future but I could add a bit steps to the scenario and then you would have to run the test for every module on every map with multiple changes to the clock and this is just impossible (or at least very expensive) to do. Also, certain showstoppers are caused by an environment, e.g. a Patch Tuesday could introduce a bug which would be detected in the last possible moment but would still necessitate a delay. EA assumes that it's up to the developers to determine when they are ready to release. Also, it is possible that the game will never go out of the Early Access.
-
Same planet as you - I'm closer than you think Coincidently, not buying EA is the best way to affect how ED does things. ED is counting on impatient people showing no restraints - I believe the term is "whales' There's no such thing as "no showstopping bugs". It is impossible to prove that the software is bug free.
-
World Update was not affected (although i'm not 100% sure if MS had published any concrete dates on the roadmap) but certain modules were - A320Neo was delayed together with the SU15. And we already saw an example that ED is capable of doing this - Kiowa comes to my mind. And even then people got mad beacause of some quirks in the flying model. But the solution is quite simple: don't preorder if you are unwilling to understand that delays can (and will happen). Don't buy EA if you are unwilling to wait for the features and accept the bugs. I really don't care one way or another. His explanation seems reasonable - I'd rather have my tooth pulled than remove an already merged and tested piece of code knowing that it will be merged back in two weeks.
-
I believe that this approach is doable only when nothing in the module depends on new core features. And even then it’s not bulletproof - SU15 has been delayed multiple times. If hordes of devs and PMs in MS are unable to properly estimate amount of work and even then some bugs pop up then how do you think ED can do is? Geeez, I really hope people from the forum will never get anyone pregnant because pregnancies have a tendency to not follow the schedule. Not to mention late periods…Too soon?
-
Because afghan depends on some new feature in core version and merging is non trivial and can introduce new bugs. Be patient.
-
But you know you could just wait for the release and only then schedule the time off? Module is not going to vanish after a month. ED is not using FOMO, people are doing it to themselves.
-
This is the way.
