Change ADJ OFF to ADJ ON using the appropriate OSB on the MAV MFCD page. The DMS then moves the boresight.
-
Back on topic WRT the OP, I always assumed the primary use of adjusting the MAV boresight was to aid in lining up shots on targets acquired visually (i.e., without the aid of the TGP). In A-10s over Kosovo the authors describe several missions where targets would be acquired using binoculars or the old Mk 1 and then set up a Maverick run. Without a targeting pod I imagine this would be easier if one had a point of reference through the HUD, probably depressed to avoid the need to dive, to get pointed close to the suspected target location before going heads down to acquire and lock using the MAV optics.

It's a book, and a very good read for anyone interested in CAS, IMO. Check here on Amazon.

I'm not so sure it's a bug, at least not one specific to that mission. It does seem to be a new feature of v1.1.0.8, though, related to use of Dynamic Weather. I have other missions I made myself using Dynamic Weather and I am experiencing the same issue at airfields where the weather is such that there is a strong crosswind component. I do wish ATC would offer some explanation, though...

Ah, sorry, bad ASSumption on my part. @JimMack: Thanks for the heads up - great news and looking forward to it.
-
Seriously? I just searched Amazon and only came up with the Black Shark manual. Is somebody starting to produce one for the DCS A-10C as well?
-
Search here and in the Flight Manual thread. You will find lots of ways people have devised to printing and binding their own copy of the manual. So far there are no commercially available printed manuals AFAIK.

Finally had time to patch and try today - just Excellent, ED!!!
-
Make sure the Maverick has achieved a lock before trying to fire - the crosshairs will meet at the point of the target when locked, otherwise there will be a gap. You can try to force a lock with TMS UP short with the MAV as SOI. If you still have trouble try searching here - there are several very good and detailed threads on Maverick employment.

The TGP needs a sufficient level of contrast to resolve an image to lock on to. In DCS A-10C I am able to lock on to tanks at great distances by setting the Level appropriately and switching to WHOT or BHOT imaging depending on the circumstances. I've seen no evidence of a "hard coded minimum distance" or anything of the sort. Try adjusting the Gain and Level settings on the TGP and try the different IR modes and you will have better success tracking from longer distances.

Nice - now say goodbye to life as you knew it...

Zamboni: Thanks again for producing the videos and posting your experiences. This is great entertainment for people like me who have to spend days or weeks away from the sim due to work travelmor whatever, and it is always good to see how others approach these missions. Will look forward to any new mission / campaign replays you care to post in the future as well. Accipiter: Thanks for posting your CSAR mission; I will definitely be checking it out as soon as I get back home!

I would say the consensus on these forums would be to go with the X-52. I am lucky enough to have been able to swing the TM Warthog, but when I was deliberating the X-52 was clearly my next choice. From what I've read here most people using the X-52 are quite satisfied with it for DCS A-10C.
-
The community is second to none. Oh, I am sure you won't regret your investment in the X-52, lots of people here use it and like it, but you won't have to look around long before you are also strongly encouraged to invest in Track IR. I resisted for a while, but didn't realize what I was missing. Just do it - you won't regret it.

 Ain't that the truth... Seriously, though, as EtherialN describes make sure you have a clean aircraft. Climb to FL200 and dive for airspeed. You will find the Hawg quite manouverable and even aerobatic, but if you're like me you will also find yourself tumbling from the sky if you're not careful and end up stalling a wing or even breaking one off:doh:

Zamboni in correct, but also too modest. If you haven't already seen his videos of complete Devil's Cross campaign messions then look here. He has done an excellent job of recording five missions - videos, not tracks, but still very entertaining and instructive.
-
Please do - sounds like a great improvement to the CSAR mission!

So I'm purchasing Trackir 5, have some questions
Zenra replied to ComradeLucifer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It is tracker / reflector that clips to a set of headphones instead of to a baseball cap style hat. The the clip for the hat ships with TrackIR, so if you don't mind wearing a hat while you fly and/or if you don't wear headphones while flying then you are fine without it. -
My first guess would be as WarriorX said, but magnetic variation throughout most of the theater modeled is usually around 5 ~ 6 degrees, not 8. You can view magnetic variation on several CDU pages, but one is NAV / OPTIONS / MAG. This page also shows your magnetic heading. The NAV / OPTIONS / GRID page displays your GRID heading, which is close to your heading relative to true north and should differ from your indicated magnetic heading by the amount of the magnetic variation.

Let me add another shameless request that you post the mission once you get it the way you like. Glad you are having fun - I know I am!

This is an awesome resource, along with all the rest of the course materials there. Don't know how I missed it until now:music_whistling: Anyway, thanks for posting - should consider adding at least a link to the sticky Documents thread here...

In my experience rolling during startup has always been attributable to a tailwind component. Hangers / shelters do not seem to block wind. Letting the plane roll and turning cross wind always corrects it; that is, applying breaks and letting go the plane will stay put.

I just had to give all the rest up. F4, FSX and several add ons haven't been run since the DCS A-10C beta release. I do still stat BS once in a while, but the A-10 has it all. I have a blast flying the missions, but also enjoy navigating routes, using TACAN stations like VORs in FSX, etc. I like the dynamic weather, even with its rough edges currently, and the scenery is just stunning. Best value in a flight sim out there, bar none.
