  1. Maybe the same issue - I just replayed Bahger's excellent "Midnight Run" SP mission (one of my favorites) for the first time since upgrading to DCS World and I get "No mark" from JTAC for the Primary, which really messes things up since the JTAC used to laser designate the primary target, a bunker, and one of the coolest aspects of the mission is using laser spot search to find the mark. I will experiment in the ME to see if the situation can be remedied; maybe it's just a version change thing.
  2. The text accompanying the video does a fair job of explaining what's going on. If you missed it and only watched the video you might go back and take another look...
  3. Yes, it worked for me, just as RichardG described. Thanks again.

    New here

Greetings and welcome as well - as cichlidfan put it, you will want to consider investing in a decent HOTAS setup, whether the TM Warthog or another, it will greatly enhance your experience and enjoyment of the sim. Track IR or similar will add another dimension, as i am sure you will see in other, similar threads. Do whatever your time and monetary situation supports, but above all have fun, share your experiences and ask questions here on the forum. It is a great community, and as much as I love studying the manuals and real world A10-C documentation, I have learned more here about flying and executing missions than anywhere else.
  5. Thanks for the tip - I am traveling now but will give it a try when I get back. I use the TM Warthog HOTAS, so I cannot do exactly as you, but will delete the keyboard file like you did and try from there. Thanks again!
  6. I agree with RichardG - the problem I have is not with the definition of the snap views themselves but that they can no longer be made sticky (by pressing RCTRL + KPD0 first). This worked in 1.1.1.x but not since I reinstalled from DCS World v1.2.3.
  7. Great to see another more complex mission playable in SP. i love the immersion afforded by missions that include other coordinated friendly assets, and the mix of time critical and orbit / wait tasks seems both realistic and fun to me. Bahger's "Midnight Run" comes to mind - great fun, that one. Won't have time to try this one until the weekend, but really looking forward to it. Thanks for all the hard work, IADC, much appreciated!
  8. Similar problem here - I rely on the sticky snap views but the toggle doesn't seem to work anymore (v1.2.3)!? Was this intended? Is there some other way to do it now, or did it just get broken in the latest version?
  9. ...and you have a very convenient pair of gauges among your engine instruments that reads out exactly that - fuel flow to each engine in pounds per hour. Add the values displayed on each and divide the total pounds remaining by the sum and you get how long you can theoretically remain flying at your current altitude, throttle setting, etc.
  10. If you do not hear the Morse Code ID signal for the ILS then first check to make sure you have turned the ILS receiver ON, have the proper channel selected and that ILS is enabled on audio panel. On the NMSP press the ILS key and check that it is lit with the little triangle indicating you have the system set to track the ILS. Enable (not Stow) the needles
  11. Same problem here - I rely on the sticky snap views but they don't seem to work anymore (v1.2.3)!? Was this intended? Is there some other way to do it now, or did it just get broken in the latest version?
  12. Very nice - thanks for the effort. I need to try GH after all this time....
  13. Following the vector ATC provides will get you to a point sufficiently away from the airport to execute an approach into the wind either visually or on instruments. On your way to the approach fix descend to "pattern altitude", or about 2000-2500 feet AGL (above ground level). If you turn toward the air field and fly straight and level you will intercept the glideslope from below (you should pick up the signal about 10 NM out), which is similar to real life general aviation procedure. If you have not already done so, I also suggest searching YouTube for one of the many excellent landing tutorials.
  14. CA will be very useful for single player missions and campaigns as well. When enabled through the new Mission Editor the A-10C pilot can now access the command map and use it to give orders to ground units. The level of control you have over ground units is also set using the new ME. I have not tried it yet, but this opens up the possibility of creating missions where the pilot acts in a true AFAC role. The fog of war option, too, is a great feature - allows only those units detected by friendly forces to show up on the in-mission map.
  15. Well I don't :smilewink:, and yes, they certainly have :)
  16. The beeping is a caution that the engine driven generator is supplying power and the APU generator is no longer needed. If you have both generator switches in the on position before starting the engines, which I believe is the proper procedure, then the first one kicks in once the first engine started reaches 50%. The Master Caution comes on then, and switching the APU generator off clears the caution.
  17. Check out this thread. Once you edit the proper files saving snap views works fine. I also remapped my Num0 to be the toggle key (i.e., no RCtrl), which makes it much easier to switch between normal and snap views.
  18. The video is the fourth in a series by Fish, made IIRC during the beta stages. All are very good indeed- informative and well produced. All are still very relavent.
  19. I really think this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrKti769K7o=UL will go a long way to answering your question. As in civil aviation, navigation to a course track requires an indication of the direction and distance away from the course line, which can be obtained through a combination of the CDI and CDU cross track error readout mentioned in my earlier reply. There is a subtle but important difference between setting the waypoint steer attribute to TO-TO versus TO-FROM. This is explained very well in the linked video. It confused me for some time, but once I understood the difference made by the waypoint attribute setting everything else became clear.
  20. Gotta luv it - was not familiar with Giant Bomb before, so thanks for sharing. The vid-review does justice to DCS in a backhanded way, but definitely funny.
  21. The STEERPOINT page on the CDU shows DMH, or Desired Magnetic Heading, which is the magnetic heading you need to hold to fly direct to the current STEERPOINT. The SYSTEM / INS / POSITION page displays your cross track error, or perpendicular distance off the course line. Also, read about the TO-TO and TO-FROM waypoint attributes. How you have these set affects how the CDI needle responds to your position relative to your flight plan course lines and the CRS setting you dial into the HSI.
  22. Here we go again...
  23. ^^^^^----- Good point, that!
  24. If you are referring to the Anchor point set in the CDU and displayed on the TAD then you are talking about the Bullseye point set for the mission. This is a reference point used by all members of a coalition during a mission to identify locations without revealing their own location to the enemy. For example, AWACS will call out enemy positions relative to "Bulls" rather that to himself. If you are referring to telling a wingman to "anchor" someplace then it is as the other posters described.
  25. I assume you had laser power on (AHCP)? Make sure the TGP / laser is not masked when you are ready to lase?
