What nomdeplume said. You don't have to land the plane, unless you're playing a mission where it's a goal (like the training mission). :)
-
If you really want to hit something spot on with a general purpose bomb you pretty much has to use CCIP, and that will probably "miss" too.
-
Oh but it matters! If you don't park exactly where the Tower wants you the guy comes out and bitchslaps your aircraft until you've parked correctly! Seriously though, no, it doesn't matter :)

Daymn!

Thanks for pointing it out! I took the Tunguska data from the DCS A-10C encyclopedia, but now double-checking with the internetz it says what you're saying. According to http://www.enemyforces.net/artillery/tunguska.htm and http://defense-update.com/products/t/tor.htm the ceiling is 3 500 m (11 500 ft). The Tor is stated to be 6000 m (19 700 ft) at both http://www.enemyforces.net/missiles/tor.htm and http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/row/sa-15.htm. As a footnote, all the data in my list might be wrong but the main purpose is to give people a clue of how lethal it is :) I might aswell add that the DCS encyclopedia has been used to determine the ranges when possible. Otherwise it's been various military sites, mostly enemyforces.net.

Thanks! Took that one from the manual but come to think about it, it might've been the Lock On manual... :smartass: Happened to stumble upon it on google. I'll make a change in the pdf of my original post.

Just made a small list with pictures and some info to help identify the effectiveness the SAM-systems since I couldn't find any such document anywhere. I bet there are others who, unlike some of you (I'm sure ;)), haven't memorized how fast every SAM-system can kill you. So here's to you! :clown_2: Edit: Ugh... Just remembered I downloaded the rar at the wiki made by toby23. It appearantly has pretty much the same and other data. Doh! SAM List Small.pdf

He's on VHF AM radio at option F10. If he was on your flight or element it would've been Hawg x-x. You aslo need to set the right frequency as the others told you.

Jet engines run better in cold environments?
roob replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Short answer, no. While the temperature decreases with the increase of altitude, so does the density. The temperature on the ground may still be colder than on a "standard day" (+20C or 288K), but when it comes to altitudes of for example 20000ft and 30000ft (where most of us normally "can" fly the A-10C :)) the temperature is still roughly ~250K for 20000ft and ~230K for 30000ft. This may of course vary a little bit but this is the general rule. Compare this to the density on a "standard day" which is 1.225 kg/m3 (which would be higher if it was colder outside). At the altitudes of 20000ft and 30000ft the density is 0,66 kg/m3 and 0.47 kg/m3 respectively (standard day). One can easily see that the service ceiling won't really be affected to any significance by the denser air at a colder day. -
Ah yeah... All missions I flew to make a useful track of how to JTAC was type 3 ^^ Hence, no useful track :music_whistling:
-
Have they done something with the 1.1.1.1 patch? 'Cause all I get to say to the JTAC now is "ATTACK COMPLETE". He just gives the "Clear to engage" instantly. I think the "Clear to engage" is the queue you're looking for to be able to attack the target without the "TERMINATE!" or "ABORT!" happening (unless the target gets destroyed or something else out of the ordinary happens).
-
You have to respond to the JTAC with all the commands he wants after the 9-line readback... The "IN" etc. Usually F1 all the way untill he stops being chatty :)
-
Do you MOTOR (~15s) the engines before windmilling? Also, you might need to hold the IGN for a brief period of time. It's not supposed to "stay" in the IGN position.
-
Haha :) Thanks anyway!

I can't move my view around in cockpit. The commands work 'cause there's a slight stutter each time I press one of the view-keys. Like it wants to look but it's stuck. It works in F2-view. I don't know when the problem arose but I think it might have been after I installed FaceTracknoIR and the face-API stuff... I've uninstalled it now but the problem persist. Made a short track too, if it helps. Anyone knows what might be the problem? SOLVED: Found the headtrack folder in the game directory... When I deleted it problem disappeared :) view fail.trk

After patches we have to do everything different
roob replied to vortex360's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Since the OP hasn't returned... I guess he was stoned out of his mind. I love how ED releases such big and awesome patches for a game I bought. It's not something that can be taken for granted in this day and age... -
With 180 you would be coming in from the south. 90 would be east.
-
Don't think you can visualize them... From what I remember they go from A through Y, and where Z is the SPI (or something like that). You can't delete them and once you've reached Y the next one will overwrite A. This is a good guide I used which cover the markpoints somewhat.
-
If you have it in A-G mode it should switch between Area and Point mode if you're doing it right :)
-
DC and GH has night missions. Haven't played in any bad weather yet but I'm not finished with GH. There was a mission in DC with pretty strong crosswinds though.
-
Post a track! :)

Practice and more practice :) Make sure you have plenty of altitude and come in as slow as you can. At least at first. Also, mark the target with the TGP so it's easier to find. And I zoom almost all the time
-
Alright, guess I'll just have to be a bit more careful when raising it next time then :)

I just took off and a longer-than-usual landing gear sound followed. Quick glance in external view shows my left landing gear is stuck. Is there any way to get it back in or do I have to land and restart the mission?
