  1. Like most games nowadays, especially the ones made for consoles, they're only graphics on steroids. Buffed up on post processing and other delusional effects. You'll find that they're in fact rather simple looking models and textures if you just look more closely...
  2. Mmmm... Nice MiG-31... The only aircraft I want more than the MiG-21 and F-86
  3. Nice one :)
  4. I feel you! It's a really nice experience :D Yeah, or a different solution would be to select an airbase a little further away. 30 min is a little harsh :)
  5. Use the quick mission function.
  6. Oh lord... This guy... Just because a wing can withstand forces of more than 9 G doesn't make it any less susceptible to physical damage in ways it wasn't designed to sustain. But, you may believe what you want, my good sir. I may also have misinterpreted you, but you seem to be taking this matter with people just having fun ramming planes while they're still learning much too serious. And I can't understand why.

  8. F-86! :D :D :D Along with all those other "announcements", DCS just went from being the one and only to simply, "Heaven".
  9. Classic song!
  10. Well sure :) Even better is the first escort mission in the deployment campaign with 80 bundles of joy and a whole treeline full of rebels :joystick:. I just wish there were more like them, especially in the online missions which tends to have a lot of tasks, but which are almost always made with the Vihkrs in mind.
  11. Looks good! I've wanted to make one of those for ages, but I lack the space :)
  12. I might be very immature, but I found the acronym SAMSHIT mentioned in the article highly amusing ("...the Ka-29 was to be upgraded with the SAMSHIT 24-hour..."). Nice read though! Makes you wish there were more missions out there with focus on rocketable targets instead of the "shoot-your-twelve-vihkrs-and-rtb-because-you-cant-do-anything else-with-your-armament".
  13. It's (most likely) affiliated with the Shkval problem. In my personal experience, when it goes "crazy" it kind of looks like it's trying to lock a fly on the physical screen covering the optics and obivously the the gun can't possibly fire at that or at that angle and thus the X appears :)
  14. Best $400 you'll ever spend :)

    TOP GUN 3D!!!

How will this even work, it's not like it has any parts made for 3D? :D But I will definitely go see it if it comes to theaters here, just because it's Top Gun.

  17. EKRAN warns when icing conditions occur. Since it's anti-ice and not de-ice, just turn rotor anti-ice on when it says so.
  18. Buy a used MS FFB2 and you will, instead of understanding the trim problem, understand the trim :) That's what I did. I will never fly the Ka-50 without FFB again unless my joystick stops functioning.
  19. I think the pictures in the manual, or most of them, are from BS1. IIRC the cockpit isn't remade for BS2 to be better looking either, keeping in mind the Ka-50 was released in 2008 while the A-10C came out in 2011. You can try this mod http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97425 for a better looking shark :)
  20. Thanks for sharing!
  21. Nice, thank you! I'll save it for later when I have the time :)
  22. I think axis commands, and then, if I recall right, the mouststick is just as the mouse so just set it to mouse axis 0 and 1.
  23. There are two options for controlling the Shkval. By analogue and digital commands. The fast one is me using my "mousestick" with its analogue input on my Warthog's throttle, and when I need to acquire a target and be more precise I have the digital mapped to my POV hat. Which, by the way, is why I sometimes reset or get the HMS up by accident since I also look around with the POV hat.
  24. I can't seem to trim the A-10 since some time, but I flew the shark yesterday and it works fine.
  25. Reading, and more importantly, understanding, the briefing helps a lot when flying a mission. Especially one you have never flown before. I just looked at it, and it states "Threats: M4A1 Abrams and M2A2 Bradley". The nice thing about this mission is that you are Russian and the enemy is American, which have units very different in style and appearance. ' Familiarize yourself with those two type of targets, on http://duckduckgo.com or the built-in Encylopedia. You should also familiarize yourself with what units you might have on your own side. It's probably going to be the same setup. I'm guessing the Russian T-80 and maybe some verison of BMP or BTR. Back to the briefing, the map shows blue (USA) units on the northern side of the river. Since this is a fairly easy mission, units on the south side will most likely be your allies. Keep that in mind! EDIT: Recorded one, of many, approaches to this mission :) : http://www.twitch.tv/juclecia/b/349148224 Jump ahead to ~8 minutes, that's when the action starts. The first target is the Abrams, which is recognizable by it's "edgy" and boxlike appearance, the second is the Bradley, small and also boxy.
