Sizing of MFCD's to fit Cougar MFD's in A10c
pcalvert replied to MustangSally's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's easy to do it the other way i.e. through the lua file.. Mine are set at 410 - fit perfectly... see here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70880&page=2 -
Thanks Colin I'll check them out :)

Don't know what I'm going to do about that yet panelbuilder. Pitbidr is going to make me a UFC which is going right above the RWR and MFCD's. I just want to get the base done at the moment. Why, what were your thoughts?

Thank you!

Bezels OKay - Here are pics of the canopy and glareshield. I had to make the frame larger with sheet plastic. The glareshield was made from MDF and I mounted a fan to add cooling for the monitor (it will run off my PC). The instrument panel shows how I had cut the plastic first then marked out the holes on the MDF. The picture with it in the cockpit was just a test fit (you can see the blue masking tape behind the MFCD's). I hadn't yet fully painted it or added the screws. When I drilled the holes in the MDF I screwed the panel to a large piece of Chipboard, so there was no chance of it moving around. Here is the link for the BK thread... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=67562

Hi Succellus, I made the seat from MDF and bought some 1 1/2 inch foam from a linen shop. I'm having seat covers made (by my Wife!) It is surprisingly comfortable. I had to first cut away all the old supports for the old seat because it was to far forward (and the wrong shape). I am going to put rubber grommits between the support and the seat (to help the BK 2) I have no idea if the BK will work with a car seat. There is a thread somewhere about the BK2... I'm at work at the moment, but will look when I am home.

Hi Succellus, I think I have one picture of how I did the bezels. I'll post it tonight. The panel can be removed easily. So I plan in the future to have several different panels depending on the Sim/ aircraft I am using. It wssn't too difficult to make. The panel was MDF and the bezels made from plastic sheet about 3/16th thick. I used different size hole saws to cut the plastic and MDF - works well (you have to use a low speed on the drill) Then I glued the bezels to the panel and drilled the holes for the screws (cant remember what size they are - I'll check) the back of the panel has a piece of perspex behind cut to size to fit the inside measurements (screen) on the monitor. Hope this helps.....

Base build Just going to start on the base now. I first need to cut a hole then build a box for the rudder, so that I can get the seating position right. I'm then going to build a base to support the whole cockpit and fit a buttkicker through the fusalage attaching to the seat. I'm going to try and build the rudder box this weekend. I would like to make them adjustable (lengthen or shorten) but am not sure how to do that yet.

Thanks Barrakooda - I'll give it a try (might have to wait until next weekend though). I'll let you know what happens...

How did you get the RWR to work?
-
Update All instruments working now apart from the RWR. Can't yet get my head around what I need to do for that yet (probably lack of time!). I posted a 'help' thread here... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=73692 But had no answers yet. Anyway - pitbldr is going to make me a UFC - which I'm completely over the moon about because he does some fantastic work and is really helpful with any questions I have. Just want to say thanks for everyones help... I think this community is awsome :)... Latest pics...

Sorry can't upload the screenshots - they are here.... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71831&page=4

Hi Can anyone help. I installed the Easy monitor configurator and it won't run. Do you have to change any lua files before installation?... I get the following error messages when I start the configurator. (see attached). I'm just trying to get the RWR to work. I am using Helios for the instruments and have exported the MFCD's changing the lua files for multimonitor configuration.... Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

TIR Question...thinking about buying
pcalvert replied to cichlidfan's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I often just pause a game and put TIR down. Come back, put your headset on re-centre and off you go. Don't even think about using it now. I've had mine over a year now and couldn't imagine using a flight sim without it. Don't think about where I have to look. In RL - do you think about turning your head to look at something? I wouldn't think so.... thats what TIR becomes after a period of time..... completely natural. Best bit of kit I have ever bought. -
Thanks Succellus. I'm quite pleased with it so far. I thought you meant rotate it physically. I'll have a search of the SimHQ forum tonight.

Yes it was a real shame. Lovely aircraft to fly. Very responsive. Better than the K8!

MFCD's working Thanks Kiezer and thanks Gadroc for Helios!MFCD's working with no (so far) stutter or drop in FPS.... Helios next! :)

Instrument test My first instrument test. Just testing placement at the moment. Will get the MFCD's and Instruments connected to DCS this week.

I used to have one of those.... loved it! Played EF2000. My very first flight sim on my very first PC. A Pentium 100 with 4Mg RAM and 1 Gb hard drive.

BTW - does anyone know how to rotate the TMWH stick? Thanks
-
Hi Succellus, I'm going to put the monitor in front of the canopy. I've checked the size from the position of the head and you can see the whole monitor through the canopy. It still needs some work (polishing) I tried some poishing techniques on the remander of the canopy and it worked really well. There is one 17.5" widescreen going behind the instrument panel and I am using Helios. I read somewhere today about rotating the stick... but don't know yet how I can do that... there are some 'limitations' with my stick extension... i.e. it took me a whole week to make :)
