My Thrustmaster warthog joystick died. I was installing an extension on the stick and as I did so it made a couple of chirps and then the joystick column on the DCS controls disappeared. Now when I plug the joystick into that or anyother computer it is DEAD. No chirp and not recognized. I plugged it into my other computer which is running DCS with a a TMWH and it is dead there too. Has the firmware in the base been damaged? Can I reset/reflash the firmware? Can I send it to Thrustmaster for repair? Any help will be much appreciated.

Exactly right Lt_Jaeger I checked USE Virtual Reality Headset and use mouse. DCS rebooted, started Steam and Vive. It all works great so I flew the P-51 all day .... what a blast! Thank you so much!

Hi Matt, Gabby here, I sprung for the Vive Pro 2 and am getting started. Pissed about all the startup hassle at first but mostly my self induced pain. Now that I am up and operating I would like to inquire "after a bit of tuning". What tuning? At first I was ready to box it up and ship it back. Now you couldn't drag it away.

Just a simple little line ... ohh how I get myself in trouble. Day 1: got it all assembled, really neat glass poles holding the 2.0 base stations, you must have 2.0, 1.0 will not work with Vive Pro 2. Link box and cables a piece of cake. Fire it up and here I am in a strange "Home" room. I do figure out how to do the kids tutorial but how about finding a way to get into good ole DCS. I wrestle around and get my PC Desktop showing on the HMD headset. Yep, this must be the way they do it! there is DCS ready to go in Steam so I click on it and I know it is VR ready 'cause it has that VR header. Yikes "What in the hell is this mess on my HMD display". Not the way to do it. OK, I'm out of time so off to bed at 2359. Day 2: Stayed in bed 'till 0900 avoiding VR. Back at it at noon, I fire it up and Yikes , the Home room is upside down with a floor for a ceiling and all text is backwards like the picture is reversed. I fight that monster for hours and it is a "no go" for fixing it. I have tried every trick I know, reinstalling steam twice and Vive also, now thinking of the hassle of boxing all this junk up and sending it back to the three dealers I got it from. Finally I decide to uninstall all software and drivers, take it all apart and restart my computer. Then I get the bare-bones instructions out and followed them exactly again and yippee, the Home room is back and the hardwood floor is on the bottom. Then I fool around with Steam and find it has a VR DCS in it but it is a very large program and will take hours to download and install. OK, install it so I start the download and head back to bed at 0300. Day 3. I stay in until 1000 and get some breakfast very late ... damn good thing I'm really finally retired (on May 24th after 65 years of flying). About 1230 I get the urge to look at it and there is DCS in Steam so something is going right. Well maybe not, it only has the two free planes and I bought $700 worth of at the Christmas sale. So I fly the P-51 after I figure out how I don't need the controllers and use my Warthog stick and mouse. WOW, This thing is so great I can feel the motion. It is like flying a real Mustang and I have Mustang time. Three good startups, takeoff and landings feel like the real thing. The Mustang has a semi-active cockpit so I can use my mouse on some knobs and switches. Next I do the SU-25 and the cockpit seems to not have anything I can do the mouse with except I can get a weird cursor up that will not do anything so I just bind all the controls I can and fly it. .... not bad except the labels are harder to read than my sharper PC Monitor. Funny though, it is easier to fly and land and the terrain is more natural. The airports are easier to spot from longer distance. I found a VR zoom that lets me zoom in on switches, knobs and instruments so I can read them. My question: is there anyway I can use the planes I bought on DCS 2D and use them here on Steam 3D?

Bought a Vive Pro 2, valve controllers. Now if I can find out how to get DCS started !

Thank you all for your help. I am learning as I go. The rig I am putting the Vive Pro 2 on is all AMD and it is compatible with the Vive and Valve. Some have wondered.

OK, I have decided to buy the Vive Pro 2 and the Valve index knuckle controllers. Will that work and what part will my Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttles play? obviously I have zero VR experience. Try to keep me ontrack, please. Next would I add the sensors and make a room? What would that add to my VR experience as I will be seated most of the time due to health issues.

Yikes, that did it mhe "This thing is growing on me" so I think it is the one for me. Now should I buy INDEX knuckles and will they work on the VP2? I don't need to move around so I don't need to have a room.

My need is for the best VR for a not mobile sim oriented person. However I want to enjoy as much travel and worldly experience as possible. Reasonable cost is not a factor, Many thanks for your help.

Me too! I have no VR experience but I built 2 new rigs. An i7-10,700 M2 1TB with AMD 5700XT and a Ryzen 9 M2 1 TB AMD 5700XT. I am looking at a HTC Vive Pro Eye Office Full System . Say whoa or GO.... please. sp correct

Flying the hard one. Thursday I flew many hours and had 12+ successful landings. I had the good ones at an altitude of 2200 when on the runway and it is best to be at 2500 at the marker. Today Sunday, is a different story, I flew 6 approaches and hit those altitudes and never saw the runway as ceiling was zero to 100 and visibility was nil to 100 ft, absolutely unusable as I was able to touchdown / bounce on the runway, go around or crash twice. the runway is 1573 ft elevation and I was contacting it at 2100 ft. So it is time to move on.

And other issues too. Minor but fixable. No cockpit front panel flood lights which makes some things like the ADI flight director crosspointers invisible and no flashlight either. I hope we get an active cockpit soon so we can turn our own switches on and off.

We would just fly the required crab angle all the way to flare and then align with the runway for touchdown. I am new to DCS but have many years flying.

I am running 2.7, not beta. If you taxi into left side of runway for takeoff there is no problem. You are doing a great job N2YF and we only want to make it better. Is there a way to change the panel lighting so we can see the cross pointers on the ADI. They seem to be black and unlighted. It should make a big difference in our flying to see and use it.

Yes indeed, N22YF is doing us a great service by making these training missions. I would like to leave a few bits of constructive comment that may help. On the hard challenge approach and landing some bugs appeared. I crashed at 5000 ft abeam the marker. Surprise, I crashed into the approach lights at the start end of the runway but I was at 3000 ft and the runway is at 1553 there. Careful, when you taxi into position for departure on the unarmed relocation flight use the left side of the runway or your wingman will plow into you. That will cost you. At mission end I received this message: "You have committed Fratricide. You have lost all your combat scores."

Yep, that is tough 1a_pro. Thanks for your input and I agree that the extra challenging low approach needs a bit of work. My suggestions are to slow it down by starting 20 miles from the Initial Approach Fix, advising them to slow to 250kts immediately, then 160kts/gear and flaps down at the outer marker.. Then check the times and speeds as it goes. It seems like the speed from the Outer Marker inbound to landing is very fast. Then in our training world the weather should be held to a 200 foot ceiling and at least half the runway insight. I flew to 200 and the windshield was covered with StElmosFire and nothing was in sight. In the real world a normal hand flown approach would be 400 and 1 mile and then on training day we would have to hand fly one to 200 and a half mile. That would be good stiff practice. I love these training missions and only mean these comments to be constructive. One more thing, the cross bars on the ADI were black and did not show up so I had to fly it as a "raw data" approach instead of a flight director approach.. Thanks N22YF for your great , fun effort for us to train on and fly.

I have looked everywhere, that why I am here. What's needed is use R Ctrl Shift 4 or 6 to move to the centerspot and then rotate to the right 15 degrees. Then save it so that I don't have to do it every time I play!
