Hi, the home DCS page in VR has the menu window just below the wing of an SU33 (think). 3 days ago, my initial position in VR is above the wing for some reason... i.e I need to recenter the VR position (ok just a keystroke but still) to get back to the right location in front of the menu window... anyone got any idea how I caused this and how to fix it?

What setting have u got?: Cockpit size setting using IPD

I have to say I took a less scientific route than measuring cockpit... looking at the pilot's hand and throttle grip and they have to look of realistic size to me...all about perception -
What setting have u got?: Cockpit size setting using IPD
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in Virtual Reality
Weird. default setting it is a coffin like the real thing indeed but stick and throttle (and buttons) are really not to scale. What headset are u using? -
Hi, if you are new to DCS then like me you'll wonder if you should go for TrackIR or VR. I did and chose TrackIR for price and fear of motion sickness. Some aspects of it bugged me and I decided to try VR with the HP Reverb G2. Trackir: It allows you to look around your cockpit easily. I did find that in acrobatic situations (dogfight) it was sometimes difficult to figure out where you were actually looking and find where the hell the opponent had gone. This is because trackIR multiplies your head movement so that 20deg in real life corresponds to 120-150deg in game. When over water or blue sky with you head looking up through the canopy it is not easy to find out where you are and when the opponent goes from left to right of your plane from under it it is not easy to get it back in your sight. I am sure practice will do though but after 30hrs of flying it was still hard for me. Another grip I had is the lack of 3D when really fighter jets are about 3D movement. Finally, cockpits looked too big/vast on screens. VR with HP Reverb G2. I chose that Headset because it has a high resolution which is really necessary with DCS. I have to say the experience has been amazing. It is much more immersive than on screen. Cockpit is just there around you, you absolutely feel like you are in it. I find it also a lot easier to follow other aircrafts around me visually. Overall it is much more natural/intuitive to fly this way. Sure the image tends to feel a bit blurry at time, especially with fast moving targets but the scenery is great and the full 3D immersion makes up for it. So far no motion sickness. Be sure to set the headset to your pupil distance (IPD), apparently it helps. VR is a little aggressive on the eyes but reducing brightness helps if needed. Not sure I will go back to Trackir but would say that if you are hesitating, I think DCS deserves VR. My system is i7 10700 @2.9GHz with RTX 3080 and 32GB of RAM.

What setting have u got?: Cockpit size setting using IPD
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in Virtual Reality
Guys, this is not to debate about what the IPD setting in DCS does or does not do. I you are not using it then don't comment. The aim here is to know what people have set it at. Again, mine at 38 seems right to scale. -
With standard settings, the cockpits look like miniature ones...the IPD setting under the VR menu allows to scale the outside world. I fly the M2000 and found that forcing IPD to 38 was giving me a cockpit of realistic size. What setting r u using? I am on a HP Reverb G2 BTW SPOILER: So far, after posting the initial thread I found out that: 1- the DCS IPD setting for VR is indeed a scaling factor allowing you to adjust the scale of your plane/cockpit to a realistic size. 2- The value you will need to achieve that may have nothing to do with your physical IPD. Users will set it in the 30-60 range 3- If your Steamvr resolution per eye is close to the native resolution of your headset then the value you will find will be indeed very close or the same as your physical IPD 4- If your SteamVR resolution setting is significantly greater than the native resolution of your headset then using a value close to your physical IPD will result in the cockpit looking like a miniature one... you will need to significantly decrease the IPD setting in DCS so that your cockpit will look to scale.

Ok thks Jojo. Understand now, the bars only kick in once below 1200kg

Hi, I noticed that my fuel level indicator panel is not working properly...the digital gauge showing the number of litre in the plane and total are working ok but the two vertical bars showing the same info visually are actually not working and always stay at 6k kg. Is this a setting somewhere or a bug on my station? Using latest beta and standard cockpit (removed all the cockpit mods) Thks

Hi all, Just wanted to know if it is possible to preset the player aircraft's Tacan and ILS to a chosen channel like for radio frequencies?

Hi, came across an issue with the MT-50CM2 throttle from Virpil. I use it with 5 way mode enabled in order that my 6 led change color and help me remember which mode I am in (Navigation/combat etc) because I use the mode selector as a modifier in DCS. For example, in mode 4, the T4 button will have a function associated to the radar range while in mode 1 it will be used to lower or raise the seat. I assigned the mode1-5 buttons to windows logical buttons 85-89. However, in DCS when I fly and switch to any mode from mode 1 the PC's keyboard will no longer work (esc key not even working) and most of the stick buttons also become inoperable. Any idea what is going on? RESOLVED - I stopped using the position of the mode selector as a modifier in DCS and mapped the buttons directly in VIRPIL software for each mode (by default only the 6 led lit buttons are mapped). No more conflict.

Guys, Got into DCS recently and wanted new skins for the Mirage 2000C ... Why is it so difficult? after reading different posts I finally double installed them into: C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft\M-2000C\Liveries and into: C:\Users\MyName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\M-2000C Well... sure the game sees them as the ground crew is happy to paint my airframe as I want BUT the mission editor sees NOTHING! Absolutely nothing  Surely there is a single directory this should go into and be visible by every component of DCS? BTW...am on OpenBeta. Thks for the single answer that rules them all (if such thing exists :smilewink:)

Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
Ok Thks. So think it it Track ir that loses a bit its centre line becasue the speed and altitude boxes are also a pb and these should not move. Need top reset position more often. Pb is at the moment the default zoom position is too zoomed in so everytime I reset trackir I need to zoom out again...need to find how to change the default zoom... -

Unable to toggle Reshade GUI
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Did that...no success Repaired DCS ... no success Cleaned up and repaired DCS ... no success Uninstalled DCS and reinstalled ... no success Noted that durig DCS "reinstallation" the updater copies some files from DCS Open beta which is also installed on my machine...so possibly copies back some corrupt files. Starting to think this is linked to a file that is not in the Eagle dynamics / DCS directory... and does not get cleaned up when I uninstall reshade or delete the DCS directory. Microsoft loves those and they mess things up more often than not :-( -

Thks Dukovac. did not solve it unfortunately :-( -
Hi Guys, Reshade loads up and I get the banner (press ' home' for tuto etc) but the home key does nothing. Was working until I started using OvGME for a few mods and included a reshade mod (Subtle Reshade) in it. Eventually remove the reshade from OvGME, uninstalled Reshade (4.7) and reinstalled it... nothing will do. Anyone has a idea how I can fix this?

Will do next time -
Hi guys, DCS 2.5 openbeta. Notice on the F18 that my HUD display is annoyingly erratic: Often the entire displays is moving to the left or right and therefore half of indications are not visible, sometimes the horizon lines are centred but the brackets / velocity markers are completely off centre and on the left outside of view ect...making it quite tough as the reset zoom would put them back in the right place. Using Trackir 5 as well btw. Known issue?
