Ok. Stopped using shader mods actually but was using subtle ones with reshade before

Hmmm...don't have that file

Damn...missed that thing...what is it? where is it?

Think the vast majority of us needed to use the cross eye tool in DCS to make it comfortable. Note that I find running the G2 with resolution @70% (in steamVR setting and PD@1 in DCS) is giving me super crisp cockpit already and FPS is gr8 with this setting. I have to massively supersample the Quest 2 to get that but not the G2 so I end up with better FPS and better graphics.

VR vs a very large monitor with TrackIR
Brainfreeze replied to Sparrow_1976's topic in Virtual Reality
I mostly do not see it anymore indeed. At least not when focussing outside so it does not bother me. I did turn off the switch labels though otherwise these would appear everytime the crosshair would sit on an actionable button/lever etc... that was annoying BTW... I assigned the stick buttons for left/right/wheel using Joystick gremlin rather than assigning them in DCS. Otherwise you can't use them when going through menus as they only become active once flying... I found that irritating in VR especially as pointing / clicking using that becomes instinctive. Personal preference though. -
VR vs a very large monitor with TrackIR

I don't use the mouse...so not ticked under VR tab... that way you always have the pointer in the middle of where you look and you click right away -

Fair enough...I do have to 'help' my head too to click behind me -

What's wrong with the existing point and click using just your head and 2 mapped button on your hotas for left/right click? -
Hence the PS in my message. Not the solution for large multiplayer

Wanted to give the Quest 2 another go (I have a G2 and use only that one for DCS)... oculus link not working...I so bloody hate this. Seems there is always something else that breaks under windows. But honestly...having a USB cable connection that doesn't connect...we are reaching new lows . Shame on you oculus.

Is there a way to pre-load a list of custom waypoints into my aircraft's system before I enter a multiplayer mission...i.e similar to my custom kneeboards store a list of waypoints saved into the saved games/DCS.openbeta/Kneeboard ? With 10+ waypoints to enter manually in VR before starting the flight, it is a lot of digit punching and time spent before every mission. Got to be a better way to have them pre-loaded no? PS: I am not talking about the mission creator doing it himself...just too much work for him + variability of multi-player showing /no show etc so really talking about the player doing it himself.

Frankly, given the time I spend on DCS I think the maps are cheap. The aircrafts are quite reasonably priced when you think about the amount a dev there is for them and the limited amount they will sell. I'll dutifully buy their maps because it is necessary income for them and the amount of work that goes in a nice map is enormous. Can't wait for the Falklands map from razbam to arrive...will be nearly 3yrs of work for 1 guy and it looks beautiful...They do it for the love of it more than for pure commercial reasons it seems to me.

Yes, I have the smallest deadzone possible. Enough so that it does always rest on the dead zone if I am not touching the stick or just have my hand loose on it. On my virpil I think it is 2 for me. Then u have a better / more precise response when doing air refueling

Next Level Motion + Traction platform & DCS
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Gosh is that not too heavy for the platform??? looks awesome...and BIG! Reliability is indeed a key point...got to be running like a tank. F14 pilot I see! -
u do not need to air refuel on the campaign. it is optional. The mirage is tough for AAR... put FBW in ground attack mode and maybe axis curves at 15...that should allow smaller adjustments at the tanker...AAR take a lot of practise and patience but like learning to ride a bike...once you have it, it gets easier and easier. Have fun

Did you ask ground crew for ground power? Think some comms do not work without ground power or engine. A bug indeed.

about to lose me as a customer . . .
Brainfreeze replied to plane_crazy242's topic in Virtual Reality
Anyone has a sense of how much improvement can vulkan bring to the engine on multithreades cpu? (nowadays everyone has 10+cores it seems). Reading comments, people see it as the saviour/ holy graal that will double your frame rate ... guess nothing that dramatic but what can be reasonably aimed for? -
With something weird like this I would start as clean as possible... i.e default settings on the GPU control panel then have the steamvR settings as used by @speed-of-heat and default settings in DCS. Need to find a config that does not do that to start with.

Not sure anyone has had a chance to test the motion platforms from Next Level. Designed for cars but they advertise it for flight sims too ... haven't seen a single feedback from users though. If someone had a chance to try the Motion AND the traction platform I'd love to hear feedback? Seems super cool but then it always looks cool on the sales leaflet

VR vs a very large monitor with TrackIR
Brainfreeze replied to Sparrow_1976's topic in Virtual Reality
Well it really is a personal thing. I don't feel 'in the cockpit' at all on a screen (I had a 3 screen setup so big real estate). VR gives me 3D for real (with proper depth) which makes all the difference to me. Then I really feel in the cockpit and I can see my 3D body in the cockpit and If i get up my chair I instinctively duck my head not to hit the canopy frame -
Help choosing a 'hammer' for DCS VR
Brainfreeze replied to PicklePicklePickle's topic in Virtual Reality
Would be very surprised if that's not better than a laptop! Let us know though -
@Harlikwin... glad you figured out what was affecting your settings but, now that you have 90fps, is it better?
