  1. Hi VampireNZ, not sure what specs and settings you got so difficult to help but have you tried Taz1004' better trees mod for caucus? I use it (dark version) and do not have this pb (and trees look a lot better!). Post your specs and setting though if you want an answer
  2. Thks Krupi for the tip. works indeed
  3. Agree. Pride37 and dburne summed it up perfectly.
  4. Weird. Got to do with settings. I have i7 and 3080 and DCS never goes 'not smooth'. Normally runs 60-90fps but never noticed when it drop below (I only play single player so far). And I have DCS setting high pretty much everywhere. but no MSAA and PD @0.8 with SteamVr setting at 70% resolution. Happy to compare more settings if helpful. PM if needed
  5. Really? don't see that in mine... I get an indication of the IPD when I move the slider but nothing like in the video where he adjusts left and right moving a green bar with his controller (I do not have controllers though). Am I missing out here?.
  6. Not hearing that about the G2 controllers at all. No idea what you talking about with software support and price diff is not that wide: G2 + controllers is £640 vs Quest2 + controller + link cable £390. But no one is forcing you to spend the money anyway. If u like flying on a Quest 2 plse do. I'm just saying I don't. It's a free country.
  7. Settings won't help...they are headset dependent. But methodology would be useful, if there actually is one that does not require extra hardware + heavy DIY
  8. Check out the cockpit with a G2 and your Quest2 cockpit will look very much blurry to you
  9. I have a G2 and a quest 2 but only use the G2 for DCS (much better)... I also have Skatezilla's DCS utility installed. I noticed that when I launch DCS (either through DCS utility or just directly through the DCS desktop icon) it opens steamVR (normal) but also the oculus app...which is not needed since I use the G2. Also noticed that in Skatezilla's utility, under application settings and then VR it has both steamVR and Oculus there and Oculus has a ticked box next to it but SteamVR's box is unticked and I cannot untick or tick any of them. Someone knows how I can prevent this oculus app from launching automatically with DCS?
  10. If you like the Quest 2 you would LOVE the G2. Have both and never use the Quest2 for DCS. They are worlds apart IMHO
  11. I've done no tweak to the G2 apart from using the WMR debug alignment tool that Bignewy posted here I swapped top and bottom and made symmetrical left/right. That improved comfort in DCS tremendously. Regarding screen rendition...yes have the same as you. not full screen. Don't think this has any impact on mouse losing etc. This is more a WMR / SteamVR conflict. Users launching DCS by simply clicking on the icon from a desktop window directly in WMR's cliff house say they have no mouse issue... I'll test that this week.
  12. 1st thks to imacken for the tip on starting DCS from a desktop view in the WMR cliff house (don't have controllers and had not though about using the keyboards's Win key to bring up the menu... ). 2nd: I have a G2 and a quest 2 but only use the G2 for DCS (much better)... I also have Skatezilla's DCS utility installed. I noticed that when I launch DCS (either through DCS utility or just directly through the DCS desktop icon) it opens steamVR (normal) but also the oculus app. Also noticed that in Skatezilla's utility, under application settings and then VR it has both steam Vr and Oculus there and Oculus has a ticked box next to it but SteamVR's box is unticked and I cannot untick or tick any of them. Someone knows how I can prevent this oculus app from launching automatically with DCS?
  13. Hehe indeed. And there is a good reason for that(actually more than one)
  14. Nope I do not use the controllers (don't have them for the G2 actually). Planes controls are all on hotas (virpil Alpha + throttle) + directly clicking on cockpit in VR. I love that in vr, it is much more immersive because you can just click everything easily and with the G2 everything is really clear in the cockpit. BTW when you get your G2... use the alignment tool (below) ... need to swap top and bottom values and generally also make both sides symmetrical.
  15. Edited: gave a second chance to the Quest 2 with settings tweaked for super sampling (1.7x) and 30hz forced refresh...modified my comments below accordingly I happen to own both the Reverb G2 and the Quest 2 + link (we will call this lockdown boredom lapse ), so thought I give you my view so far. For disclosure, had the G2 for a few months and the Quest 2 for a day at time of initial writing. Headset quality: I have to say the G2 is much better for me in terms of comfort. I have the standard head strap for the Quest and frankly it is rubbish. Also the foam is much harder than on the G2 and the area around the nose is not as comfortable and does not fit like on the G2 (light comes through, you can see your lap through the gap. I can spend hours with the G2 on but don't think I would with the Quest 2. Maybe the elite strap helps overall but it is £50 additional... added to the £90 for the oculus link it is a £440 headset now. Graphics: G2 is also miles better. When I put the Quest 2 on I thought...oh that seems nice. It look smoother and softer than on the G2. Don't know why given exact same settings but colours are different and grass seems more blended for some reason. With the 1.7 SS the cockpit dials are perfectly crisp and readable. Not as good as G2 but very far from it at all. Then I noticed that spotting planes was actually much much harder and I also noticed that my FPS was lower than with the G2. Might be some setting fine-tuning thingy. I put the G2 back and then I was 'whaow!' graphics are a lot crisper and spotting is dead easy. Made me love my G2 all the more. Also think anyone who want to dogfight or spot targets from afar will want a G2. The Quest lens is closer to my eyes than in the G2 which means eyelashes sometime touch it. The sweet spot is definitely smaller on the G2 than the Quest. It does bother some but not me. Super crisp where you look and good enough just around it really. Sound: G2 very superior there. The quest does not shine by its sound but the G2 does. Performance: In order to have crisp dials in cockpit I need to supersample the Quest 2 but not the G2 so actual frame rate is better in the G2 at the end of the day. To be honest, it is no big deal as both achieve very smooth graphics on my system. I do have occasional stutter on the Quest though. like every 30sec or 1min I get a quick stutter affecting video and sound. Been there all along and have no idea what's causing it. Overall: Quest 2 worth the price (with add-on) really and certainly a perfectly good headsest to enjoy DCS. G2 is superior in my view, with better comfort, slightly better graphics and much better sound. feedback welcome. On the Quest2 I launch oculus, enable link then launch DCS direct. For G2, WMR then DCS direct (which triggers SteamVR)
  16. EDIT: ignore me...answer was in front of my eyes in one of the top bars... Looking to uninstall all the modules that were on free trial with the app... Not sure I understand what the tick boxes next to each module actually means or does... seems the only way is to click on the arrow next to each module and then select uninstall. Is that right?
  17. Thks a bunch...will get onto that tonight
  18. Here u go... this is your big mistake
  19. U must be kidding me. I hope they thought of something better before making their 'free trial' experiment. gonna curse them forever if they didn't
  20. The game keeps asking me to bind/skip at startup for each module I do not own that was installed during the free trial period... How do I uninstall them IN BULK.... if I put them in the bin from the module manager it restarts the game for each one... gonna take bloody ages... HELP! thks RESOLVED: Thks to @Northstar98 and @Bailey for their help. Removed them using DCS Installer utility below
  21. Hi Baltic dragon. Been playing your M2000 campaigns and Av8b. Really gr8 experience, immersive, nice to have a story line and realistic scenarios etc so big thumbs up and thank you. We all experience bugs of course and with no experience in mission design myself but with my careers experience in system and product design it seems to me (might be awfully wrong here) that a lot of the quirks are due to triggers. Seems they may be too precise or specific in many cases and end up not triggering thus leaving the mission stranded or skipping parts. I hardly ever get through a mission where I get all the radio calls or have all the sections working as expected. Might be too complex or too precise, I don't know. The reality is players will do everything you expect them not to do and thus ultra generic fallbacks / safeguards could help get back on track in the story (like the plane is not where it should be, fired a missile instead of dropping a bomb etc). Might be that the mission builder is not flexible enough (if plane is not there then display a new message and get the player back on track...) and of course these things are easier said than done but if it is possible with the mission engine then I think it is worth spending time on this as it will considerably strenghten the missions and take player satisfaction to a new high Good luck and I'll buy every mission you do for the planes I fly!
  22. Hi guys, was wondering from what altitude skilled pilots fly to create markpoints ... I tend to have to go quite low to be precise enough but am then exposed to AA defenses... Trying to know what the benchmark is
  23. I was waiting for you to reply and started the ottoman courier with the Av8b instead... but still tried yesterday and this time it went through and jtac replied. Not sure what bug is in there...I did exactly the same thing on my side. I generally find most bugs are with communications throughout the campaigns. also...tune on a wrong channel means you do not get the message and it is game over... would be good if u'd get a reminder to switch to the frequency until u r tuned in (space bar) so that the mission can still progress Btw...on coup d'etat M1...the kneeboard is wrong re R frequencies ... numbers and frequencies do not match for checks channel. So far seem voice acting was best in caucus campaign. Gr8 work on these Baltic-dragon. Your campaigns are awesome
  24. Ha! Thanks, will try that... indeed annoying that this valve can't be operated from the cockpit...am in VR and keyboard is not visible!
  25. Nice to shut them off after taxiing to the parking spot...but I haven't figured out how yet Someone knows?
