  1. 1st thks to imacken for the tip on starting DCS from a desktop view in the WMR cliff house (don't have controllers and had not though about using the keyboards's Win key to bring up the menu... ). 2nd: I have a G2 and a quest 2 but only use the G2 for DCS (much better)... I also have Skatezilla's DCS utility installed. I noticed that when I launch DCS (either through DCS utility or just directly through the DCS desktop icon) it opens steamVR (normal) but also the oculus app. Also noticed that in Skatezilla's utility, under application settings and then VR it has both steam Vr and Oculus there and Oculus has a ticked box next to it but SteamVR's box is unticked and I cannot untick or tick any of them. Someone knows how I can prevent this oculus app from launching automatically with DCS?
  2. Hehe indeed. And there is a good reason for that(actually more than one)
  3. Nope I do not use the controllers (don't have them for the G2 actually). Planes controls are all on hotas (virpil Alpha + throttle) + directly clicking on cockpit in VR. I love that in vr, it is much more immersive because you can just click everything easily and with the G2 everything is really clear in the cockpit. BTW when you get your G2... use the alignment tool (below) ... need to swap top and bottom values and generally also make both sides symmetrical.
  4. Edited: gave a second chance to the Quest 2 with settings tweaked for super sampling (1.7x) and 30hz forced refresh...modified my comments below accordingly I happen to own both the Reverb G2 and the Quest 2 + link (we will call this lockdown boredom lapse ), so thought I give you my view so far. For disclosure, had the G2 for a few months and the Quest 2 for a day at time of initial writing. Headset quality: I have to say the G2 is much better for me in terms of comfort. I have the standard head strap for the Quest and frankly it is rubbish. Also the foam is much harder than on the G2 and the area around the nose is not as comfortable and does not fit like on the G2 (light comes through, you can see your lap through the gap. I can spend hours with the G2 on but don't think I would with the Quest 2. Maybe the elite strap helps overall but it is £50 additional... added to the £90 for the oculus link it is a £440 headset now. Graphics: G2 is also miles better. When I put the Quest 2 on I thought...oh that seems nice. It look smoother and softer than on the G2. Don't know why given exact same settings but colours are different and grass seems more blended for some reason. With the 1.7 SS the cockpit dials are perfectly crisp and readable. Not as good as G2 but very far from it at all. Then I noticed that spotting planes was actually much much harder and I also noticed that my FPS was lower than with the G2. Might be some setting fine-tuning thingy. I put the G2 back and then I was 'whaow!' graphics are a lot crisper and spotting is dead easy. Made me love my G2 all the more. Also think anyone who want to dogfight or spot targets from afar will want a G2. The Quest lens is closer to my eyes than in the G2 which means eyelashes sometime touch it. The sweet spot is definitely smaller on the G2 than the Quest. It does bother some but not me. Super crisp where you look and good enough just around it really. Sound: G2 very superior there. The quest does not shine by its sound but the G2 does. Performance: In order to have crisp dials in cockpit I need to supersample the Quest 2 but not the G2 so actual frame rate is better in the G2 at the end of the day. To be honest, it is no big deal as both achieve very smooth graphics on my system. I do have occasional stutter on the Quest though. like every 30sec or 1min I get a quick stutter affecting video and sound. Been there all along and have no idea what's causing it. Overall: Quest 2 worth the price (with add-on) really and certainly a perfectly good headsest to enjoy DCS. G2 is superior in my view, with better comfort, slightly better graphics and much better sound. feedback welcome. On the Quest2 I launch oculus, enable link then launch DCS direct. For G2, WMR then DCS direct (which triggers SteamVR)
  5. EDIT: ignore me...answer was in front of my eyes in one of the top bars... Looking to uninstall all the modules that were on free trial with the app... Not sure I understand what the tick boxes next to each module actually means or does... seems the only way is to click on the arrow next to each module and then select uninstall. Is that right?
  6. Thks a bunch...will get onto that tonight
  7. Here u go... this is your big mistake
  8. U must be kidding me. I hope they thought of something better before making their 'free trial' experiment. gonna curse them forever if they didn't
  9. The game keeps asking me to bind/skip at startup for each module I do not own that was installed during the free trial period... How do I uninstall them IN BULK.... if I put them in the bin from the module manager it restarts the game for each one... gonna take bloody ages... HELP! thks RESOLVED: Thks to @Northstar98 and @Bailey for their help. Removed them using DCS Installer utility below
  10. Hi Baltic dragon. Been playing your M2000 campaigns and Av8b. Really gr8 experience, immersive, nice to have a story line and realistic scenarios etc so big thumbs up and thank you. We all experience bugs of course and with no experience in mission design myself but with my careers experience in system and product design it seems to me (might be awfully wrong here) that a lot of the quirks are due to triggers. Seems they may be too precise or specific in many cases and end up not triggering thus leaving the mission stranded or skipping parts. I hardly ever get through a mission where I get all the radio calls or have all the sections working as expected. Might be too complex or too precise, I don't know. The reality is players will do everything you expect them not to do and thus ultra generic fallbacks / safeguards could help get back on track in the story (like the plane is not where it should be, fired a missile instead of dropping a bomb etc). Might be that the mission builder is not flexible enough (if plane is not there then display a new message and get the player back on track...) and of course these things are easier said than done but if it is possible with the mission engine then I think it is worth spending time on this as it will considerably strenghten the missions and take player satisfaction to a new high Good luck and I'll buy every mission you do for the planes I fly!
  11. Hi guys, was wondering from what altitude skilled pilots fly to create markpoints ... I tend to have to go quite low to be precise enough but am then exposed to AA defenses... Trying to know what the benchmark is
  12. I was waiting for you to reply and started the ottoman courier with the Av8b instead... but still tried yesterday and this time it went through and jtac replied. Not sure what bug is in there...I did exactly the same thing on my side. I generally find most bugs are with communications throughout the campaigns. also...tune on a wrong channel means you do not get the message and it is game over... would be good if u'd get a reminder to switch to the frequency until u r tuned in (space bar) so that the mission can still progress Btw...on coup d'etat M1...the kneeboard is wrong re R frequencies ... numbers and frequencies do not match for checks channel. So far seem voice acting was best in caucus campaign. Gr8 work on these Baltic-dragon. Your campaigns are awesome
  13. Hi, In mission 13 - Last Strike ... I am stuck with the Jtac not answering ... I am on ch3 on green. get the initial auto call out at wp3 and short dialog but when it comes to using the \ menu and contact them to check-in 15 I get no answer back ever. They call me in 'visual' once I am on them but never when I try to contact them on radio. Me wrong or bug?
  14. Hi, stuck with the Jtac not answering in M13 ... I am on ch3 on green. get the initial auto call out at wp3 and short dialog but when it comes to using the \ menu and contact them to check-in 15 I get no answer back ever. They call me in 'visual' once I am on them but never when I try to contact them on radio. Me wrong or bug?
  15. For the life of me I cannot survive the 2 SU33s that pop up after claw leaves the bombing site (tunnel). They have tons of missiles, I struggle to even figure out where the planes are before I have at least 2 missiles chasing me ...plus they are launched from a distance that my magics can't match. watched a few YouTube videos and the guys seems to never really have much to do to evade the one missile launched after them...I dodge one, maybe two but then a 3rd always gets me ... Did they upgrade the Russian missiles lately??? Any tips welcome...driving me crazy and shaking
  16. Great job Baltic Dragon on this M2000 campaign. Perfect learning pace, after the training missions, and just the right level of difficulty. Immersive storyline and great voice acting really add to it. Really well done. M2000 is my 'learning' plane on DCS (still a newbie) and this campaign has hooked me to this Sim. Merry Xmas to all
  17. Hi Imacken. Indeed "i.e I need to recenter the VR position (ok just a keystroke but still)". So yes I recenter it every time from the hotas. Probably nothing to do with DCS but with WMR / SteamVR. I noticed that sometimes DCS starts with the right initial position (in front of menu) and a few seconds later resets the VR view to the wrong position where I can't see the menu anymore.
  18. Not sure I understand your question but: 2000x2000 is a random number I used in the comment...it depends on the resolution of your headset. For Reverb G2 it is 2160x2160. However, in steamvr video settings you can specify the resolution per eye. Normally you would enter 2160x2160 for reverb headset but many specify a resolution that is higher than native resolution (upscaling) so that they get better in game resolution (for close objects in particular). I experimented with it too and was using something around 3000x3000 ... and the cockpit looked tiny so I had to change the 'force IPD' setting in DCS VR tab to something around 45 so that the cockpit looked the right size. Hope that is clearer
  19. Damn. Pretty tough in tensed and close situations. And with the automatic lock...chances are you lock someone on your side tough to know 3 or 4 miles out with no labels
  20. Hi, when multiple bogeys fly together and I lock on one of them using the VTB and TDC, I often have a need to switch to another of these bogeys (after they break formation one may become a bigger threat to me)... Is there a way to 'cycle' through them in the mirage? selecting the new one on the VTB is just too slow and you need to keep your eyes on the bandit. At the moment I end up breaking lock and using the weapons command to switch to boresight mode and try to reacquire automatically but it is not working well for me How do you do it?
  21. hmm...installed the new release of open beta...in game IPD now at 56 in the mirage...up from 45! OK OFF THAT! ... nothing to do with new realease ... found out it has to do with the resolution used on your VR headset... If you use a higher resolution (say native is 2000x2000 per eye and you set steamvr video setting at 3000x3000 per eye ) then your cockpit will look very small. If you use native resolution then an in game IPD setting close your own IPD will look fine. It therefore seems that it is a scaling factor which you need to use if you set your steamevr resolution to a higher (or lower I guess) resolution. ... going to edit the 1st post to reflect that.
  22. Yep, that what I was trying to figure out with this post and given the wide array of settings people use it seems that users just need to find the right value for them in the 30-60 range. Kind of important that people know this is not IPD and should not match your own IPD. More of a scale factor
  23. Sorry but not sure I understand.... If your pictures are left eye / right eye then is it not completely normal? The left eye will see more to the left and less to the right, while the right eye will see more to the right and less to the left.
  24. Argh...tried to rollback the driver to 451.48 ... would not install...says it is not compatible with this version of windows / Could not find suitable graphic hardware (got Win10-64 latest update and GeForce 3080). guess the driver is for Turing cards only
