Ha...does make sense! Haven't tried but will trust you on this. Will revert to PD=1

Steam SS eats less FPS than DCS PD. Massively discussed in the forum. hence better 100% and PD<1 than 70% and PD at 1
-
BTW... you should set your 'custom resolution multiplier' in steamVR at 100% (u r at 63%). Then use a <1 PD in the DCS VR menu. Even though with a 3090 u should still be fine with PD left at 1 and 100%.

I have a question about M3 (night low level LST GBU bombing)... I am arriving low level to avoid the SA-8... i.e 150ft ... rise up 3 miles before... but GBUs keep missing target because, I think, they need to be dropped from higher altitude in order to be able to steer themselves. Am I wrong there? Waht altitude are u guys coming at and are you hitting tgt?

Help choosing a 'hammer' for DCS VR
Brainfreeze replied to PicklePicklePickle's topic in Virtual Reality
I tried a quest 2, aside from my g2 and it’s ok. Won’t use it if the g2 is around but can definitely do the job. my gear ( in signature) gives me fluid / no stuttering. Am currently using motion vector but really not necessary either. Think upgrading from laptop is definitely worth. Going overboard is not. But a man got to do what a man got to do... -
Help choosing a 'hammer' for DCS VR
Brainfreeze replied to PicklePicklePickle's topic in Virtual Reality
Seems too much effort and money for marginal benefit. All this hardware will be out of date in 12months time and the benefit of the highest gear today is maybe 20% better for twice the price of the next one below. Proper settings will gets you to the right place and give more benefit than the underlying hardware. You may be pretty pissed off if poor settings give you unsatisfactory performance after spending all that money and effort. Aka some users on the forum have very high specs and not happy with their VR. I have lower specs and very happy with my VR performance. DCS will improve in the next 12months and then hardware will too and so on for the following years. Get something you like now and is better than what you have today and enjoy the progress year on year. It is the journey that matters -
Latest beta update crashes a lot of things actually...better not update yet
-
same here... just updated to latest beta and tacan is gone

Thanks Imacken. I am not using these exact numbers, just using SS on steamVR and <1 PD in DCS. Came out with a combination that works well for me (qualitiy/fluidity)
-
Yep using the same tip on my side.

Forget FPS. If it's fluid and crisp...it's good!

Cockpit Tooltips: How do I turn that OFF???
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in General Bugs
Yeah I knew that . Hidden in plain sight. Thanks a million Taz -
These tooltips are getting in the way of displayed information on my MFDs so wanted to turn them off... Well that is harder than I thought. Found a BDA toggle(hide/show) command under Controls - General... seems to also be under UI ... no idea what that is but did not seem to get rid of tooltips... if anyone knows how to then help appreciated

In some respect, the 'trigger risk' creates the stress for the player to make sure he follows the plan very strickly and does not mess up. Can add to the atmosphere and make it more 'real' as opposed to 'game style'. Being glass half full here

still needed

Totally fair. Arguably the windows world is like that...millions of combinations to allow anyone to do anything...not user friendly though. VR is relatively new and it will still be a bit trial and error for a few years, especially as programmers need to account for/cope with different standards. DCS was clearly designed in the pre-VR era and they are catching up. Arguably they do lag behind, maybe because the engine was not designed with this in mind at all. Personnaly, i was reasonably ok for my gear to find settings that make VR so much better than flat screen but indeed it could just be down to luck. Hope you can get back to it in the near future -
What is the best way to designate the target lased by the Jtac? My LST is picking up the target properly but the weapon system does not seem to engage on it so does not do the auto release of the bombs. I fiddle around, generally going on the map MPCD, unboxing the DESG button then boxing it again and then my vertical line appears and auto bomb works...just seems the wrong way to do it. Would think it could be done just using the HOTAS? Tried the TDC down but not working. Help plse

Is there a guide / video tutorial on the Marshall communication when landing the harrier? Been through the Ottoman Courrier campaign and the mission always tells me I had no proper communication!...

No issues either with maybe the exception that exiting and restarting DCS does not seem to clear GPU memory or something like this so getting a bit of graphic black outs / stuttering for a few seconds initially until it gets cleared up again. -
Quest 2 versus Reverb G2 : My experience
Brainfreeze replied to Brainfreeze's topic in Virtual Reality
Tried it tonight to check and frankly could not find much difference over Las Vegas. Might be more noticeable on other maps maybe. Normally, MSAA is said to be quite taxing on fps but I have not noticed much today...
