Missing MiG-29 Quick Start Missions from Update
Dudikoff replied to NineLine's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Great, thanks. -
'Unknown Module' error with stable version.
Dudikoff replied to Lixma 06's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Most of the people are probably on Open Beta. The update which supports the MiG-29 is "DCS 2.5.3.22652 Open Beta" as written in the official update post, so it's not supported by the stable branch yet. -
Missing MiG-29 Quick Start Missions from Update
Dudikoff replied to NineLine's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
The standalone modules and FC3 quickstart missions are a complete mess. It took me a better part of two hours to force install all the standalone modules and browse through the mission folders and copy all the missing quickstart missions and add them to the lua file. The mission files don't have consistent naming, some modules don't have missions for all the maps, some files use the Persian Gulf naming, some Straight of Hormuz, etc. It would be nice if ED could sort this mess out when they are fixing the missing MiG-29 quickstart missions. -
Speaking of speed, I was playing one of the quickstart missions (I think the MiG-29S Intercept) and suddenly the velocity meter died and had a red flag over it. Are there some random failures in these missions or there is it possible to damage the pitot tube somehow or perhaps it can freeze in certain conditions? Just not sure what happened there.

Carrier ground support equipnent DLC
Dudikoff replied to Harley Davidson's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Yeah, an add-on carrier DLC, OK. But, carrier ground support vehicles should come with said carriers. -
Missing MiG-29 Quick Start Missions from Update
Dudikoff replied to NineLine's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
It's a thread about MiG-29 quickstart (instant) missions, so, no, these are not the missions we are looking for. -
It's from the manual: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3651137&postcount=21 ;)

From the DCS World bin folder: dcs_updater.exe install MIG-29 So, I guess there's no more route following AP mode? "Path control" sounds like it, but it says it's not implemented. I'm not sure which cockpit button it would correspond to, but if these two modes are not implemented, why have key controls assigned for them at all? Perhaps a future update? I didn't spot anything else new in the manual besides the AP pages.

I have to check the new autopilot options, but the new FM fixed the silly roll rate available at slight deflections. I usually fly the MiG-29S quick-mission to test the joystick axis settings so when I decided to try out the Hornet after that, I first thought there was something wrong with my joystick as the roll response was much weaker. They also forgot to include the manual, but the module can actually be force-installed already and both English and Russian manuals are included.

I'm using the Warthog Throttle and don't really have issues with its slew control. It's usually way too sensitive by default, but the sensitivity can be reduced module-specific in the Target profiles. Too bad they didn't add a rotary control like on the F/A-18 right throttle (I know the A-10C doesn't have it, but it would make the Throttles more universal), but that's the only real beef I have with it.
-
Yeah, but you'd have to add them manually to the list afterwards. I'm just wondering if this is considered legal or they were only made for the standalone modules and are not considered FC3 content? Because, otherwise, I don't understand why they're not added to the FC3 module as well (as the other content is there, like e.g. module manuals).
-
Yeah, I find the whole deal with the instant missions regarding FC3 and standalone modules quite weird. You don't get them with FC3, but even if you buy the separate module, the module won't be accessible so you won't have the missions still, unless you add them manually. I guess you'd have to buy old the standalone modules AND uninstall the FC3 module to be able to use them fully which kind of beats the purpose of FC3.

Great, thanks for your efforts, I'll check it out. As I said, I wouldn't mind the magnetoresistive kit, but as I only need it for the throttle (for the tick I already got used Uber and FSSB R1 gimbals) and as this kit is not compatible with the original electronics, it won't work with Target.

What new feature of the Hornet are you most looking forward to?
Dudikoff replied to Wags's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
They can know via the provided radar cursor bullseye reference, I guess. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3502158&postcount=5 -
And a pretty limited capability carrier and its aircraft, at that. Plus, wasn't the primary mission in those Soviet times for this carrier to provide protection to their submarines from NATO ASW patrol airplanes? In that regard, the RWR perhaps wasn't a high priority, like e.g. it wasn't for the F-14's which were initially equipped with the same obsolete AN/APR-25's from the F-4's.

There's plenty of AAA titles still offering a Collector's Edition as well. It would be really cool if HB would do something like that for a special module like the Tomcat surely is, with a luxurious printed operations manual, art book, soundtrack CD, a cloth map, patches, a kneepad quick guide, etc. E.g.

** Leaving Drydock! Forrestal Class Update **
Dudikoff replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It's odd that they didn't mention it in the reveal then. I guess they're not sure yet so didn't want to make any firm promises. -
Hmm, you're right. I have the same problem and now that I logged in and went to my profile, I can see a "DCS Black Shark serial number replace" option on the left which combines the BS1 and BS2 Upgrade keys into a new serial. Thanks.

** Leaving Drydock! Forrestal Class Update **
Dudikoff replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah, I noticed that it wasn't mentioned as well so IMHO it's pretty safe to assume that it probably won't make it for the EA. ED's carrier will do just fine for the EA, I guess. -
Question about Livery and Names on Side of Aircraft
Dudikoff replied to Shrike88's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah, but still, it would be nice if ED would make some provision for this. -
Hopefully that will include the animated waypoint switches similar to how Su-25 was updated with them.

** DCS-F14 PRE-ORDER NOW AVAILABLE! Gameplay Reveal Video Update **
Dudikoff replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It's listed in the first post as one of the features: "A functional simulation of the LANTIRN designator pod, allowing the RIO to guide laser guided munitions dropped by the pilot or other aircraft (buddy-lasing)." They announced way back that the A will be a mid 80's fit, while the B will be some early 90's fit (well, I guess it will be more like mid since they'll include some rudimentary LTS pod support through the TID). -
Guys, there's nothing necessarily toxic about that post unless you make it out to be. The guy is just posting his opinion which he has the right to. I'm sure HB can handle some differing opinions just fine, it comes with the job.
-
Yeah, it ended up being just a reveal stream, though I did expect a more in-depth demonstration since I don't really remember how their release process went with Viggen (that was so long ago plus I didn't really care about Viggen that much to follow it every step of the way). But, since the Tomcat's release is months away (i.e. at least two), there'll hopefully be more than a few updates presenting the module in more detail. Can't wait. I also felt the short, but very well produced A-6 AI presentation kind of stole the show being shown first.

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
Dudikoff replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Or at least the four Forrestal class variants. Oh, wait..
