  1. flybye, I also can only afford 5-10 hrs per week on the sim with family commitments. I can say that if it wasn't for my trackir and HOTAS, this sim would be a little too masochistic for me. I never have to touch the keyboard for a full flight (I also have the TM MFDs); if I did have to use the keyboard, I'd never remember all the shortcuts and the fun would vanish for me since I can't devote alot of time for those keyboard commands to end up in my muscle-memory. But this sim is unparalleled, just get it and find out whether you like it for yourself. If it doesn't... oh well, it only cost a couple of nights on the beer!
  2. if you know how to touch type but still Hen-peck... You don't really know how to touch type ;)
  3. lol, I'm using that one in the future!

Thx. Specs are in my sig now. With 1.07, fps is silky. In 40/50s, with occasional dips with lots of high poly objects. That video needs updated... Does not reflect current performance.
  5. Succellus, Yeah, I use TH2GO +1 for MFDs, RWR exporting and Helios. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65518 Works great for me, I get 40+ FPS with occasional dips, but nothing to worry about. This video is of a mid Beta version, so still got lots of slow-down, especially when I fire the GAU.
  6. Hi Nate, Thx for the suggestion. This works okayish.. the problem with this approach is that the time between pressing the final F-key and when you start to hear the confirm from wingie doesn't change between either method. So if I rename the folder, I get on paper what I wanted originally, but there's now a big pregnant pause before I get a reply from the receiver. Picky huh! ;-)
  7. Hi, I apologize if I've asked for this before. I would like a setting to disable 'player's pilots' voice after issuing a radio command via F-keys. In more detail: If I issue a 'Flight RTB' command via F-keys, I do NOT want to hear a computer voice say 'Flight, RTB', and then hear a reply from my wingie , eg. saying 'Roger, RTB'. Reason: If I issue all radio commands via VAC and voice recognition, this new logic will make the experience much more immersive. For at the moment, I SAY 'flight, RTB', then 2 seconds later I hear 'Flight, RTB', then I hear 'Roger, RTB'. Breaks the immersion. The code change should take < 1-hour ;-) Love and kisses!
  8. I've just spent the past few nights flicking through the massive bound-manual for F-22 Total Air War circa 98. The amount of info about different units appearing in the game was impressively unnecessary!... full background to several planes, full Block improvements and service contract details across Eastern Europe... gotta love the attention detail even back then.
  9. holy craperoony this is amazing looking, can't wait to play with this new info at home!
  10. Been there once, what a shop! I literally was drained by the time I walked out, way too much to look at. Books are expensive though compared to UK prices, I'd have bought lots of reference books otherwise to help my paint jobs. Good buy BTW.
  11. Did you go to Aviation Megastore?
  12. Yeah, as soon as my wingman spots a ground target, I usually have him attack it, then as soon as I have his SPI appear on my TAD, I tell him to return to formation. Slave TGP. engage. Q: Am I doing this right? It works, but I feel like I'm cheating for some reason.
  13. +1 for option to turn off random failures. With 2 young kids, I only get the odd chance to get away for a short 2 mission sortie. Having 20 minutes of preflight and ferrying to the action wasted by a random failure definitely wastes my valuable time. Not cool!
  14. Ah yes Eddie but this is your job! (I as assuming you get paid in sheckels as an ED tester?) I agree that kneeboards are a win from an immersion POV. But my request I believe is valid. I am not against having to juggle alot of knowledge while in the Hog, but during Mission Planning, when selecting items from a listbox that aren't common knowledge to people who don't spend 3+hrs a day in DCS, it would be very easy to enhance the efficiency of interacting with the GUI in the manner I requested. But that's just my 2pennies!
  15. Yeah but after printing out airport guides, RWR symbology, AAA threat-guide, my own notes for procedures, VAC commands, keyboard commands, HOTAS commands..... Think of the treeeeeeeees!
  16. Aplogies if old wish... As a simmer who can't devote constant flying time to DCS:10, I can't be expected to remember EVERYTHING in the game. ;) My particular problem is in the weapons load-out screen. If for example I want to load up some rockets, I'm given all the choices, ie: Mk5 M151 M154 etc etc This is meaningless to me. It should be trivial to add some meaningful explanation in brackets, ie: Mk5 (HE) M151 (Anti-personnel) M1337 (smoke) etc. I shouldn't have to be expected to leave the mission, cross-check in Encyclopedia, pdf manual, then switch back.... Many thanks!
  17. Well im happy to pos you some. Its sold i. 750gm bottles and only costs 5 euro. Thatll last forever! Actually my bottle is labelled as 'pledge multi surface wax, formally known as Klear'. ...and Klear is the a different label for Future...
  18. I didn't choose it so much as that's the way it ended up! I sealed the decals with Future mixed with Tamiya Flat Base. I obviously didn't flat it too much, but I'm okay with that, it doesn't look as shiny in real life. Let's say it's modelled as it would look on a wet day :)
  19. Jab, I said I'd share my Diamondbacks Hornet when I was finished... well, here it is! I REALLY tried to recreate your amazing weathering. But it didn't work for me. It may have been that I different from the paint, I used Promodeller washes rather than the diluted watercolour you used, but it probably had more to do with lack of skill/patience. Again, I found myself rushing towards the end 'cos I just wanted the damn thing finished, but all in all, this is my best result yet.
  20. I like it too, nice and compact for A5 printing / quick reference. 1 suggestion, I'd like to see the RWR warning indicator for each.
  21. Well that gave me a chuckle imagining that battlefield. More instant action insanity reports please!
  22. Dont know if this is of interest to ed or not, but this mission didnt have the bug described above on my machine, win7, 32 bit. I then installed 64bit win7tonight and reinstalled dcs. Now i get this bug all the time. Coincidence?
  23. For sure, having the installer do the change would be tres bad, but just showing a message box with a link to an online DCS KB-article or similar might lead lots of horses to water... there must be many other purchasers of DCS titles in same boat as I was and that didn't happen to stumble across this game-saving tip on a random forum thread. Sounds messy though. Either way, I'm happy now.
  24. Nate, I can see why that links in your sig (the "bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072" tip)... It has instantly solved all my CTDs, texture glitches. Graphics settings have all gone from low to high... Couldn't be happier. maybe there should even be an auto-check in code that: On startup of DCS, IF OS == Win7 AND Installed RAM == 4GB AND bcdedit userva < 3072, show a messagebox recommending this performance tweak? Thx Usul for opening this thread! ;-):thumbup::thumbup:
  25. Thx Eddie, Definitely food for thought and a quiet weekend!
