  1. Lets not assume its gone for good till we hear from the horses mouth.... It is amazing looking and I've only seen it here in screenshots
  2. Good god the noise in that mountain range must be insane. That's on my bucket list
  3. Omg, it's funny how we remember the good old days with rosé tinted specs, that's positively Cubanesque in art form!
  4. Oh and that water! Lovely! Is there any difference if the weather's set to storm conditions? I can't test, my PC is dead bwahhhhh :(
  5. Amazing! Someone should do identical before and after shots, I bet it makes the old model look like something out of the Amiga era.
  6. True, but at least they have 1st-hand experience of the sensations of departure from controlled flight, which is a big 1-up on the rest of the pack.
  7. Something irked me today. It's happened more than once, but you get someone on this forum saying "I am extremely disappointed with DCS:X. It's flight model is pants; A2A's X is much better. BTW, I'm a real pilot, so I know naanaanaa!". This really annoys me, if there is no validation. Kerry Katona may be a qualified driver and owner of a Nissan GTR, but she'll (highly likely) have zero experience or understanding of the 'edge of the envelope' characteristics of that car, with respect to understeer/oversteer/chassis dynamics/mechanics of drifting/traction control/slide-recovery/braking moments.... So excluding the RL Air-force jocks or aerobatics pilots, does the average commercial or recreational pilot have any position from which to comment on the flight-model of a PC-plane?
  8. With 10s of millions of users, I can imagine that if the need arises, support could well be slow + frustrating when you MUST HAVE YOUR GAMING FIX. But for me as a low-moderate user (getting old), I think Steam is an amazing platform and an amazing bit of engineering. Can you imagine if EA had bought Steam?? <Shudder>....
  9. Ahhh... very good point, now you mention it!....
  10. Nice pics, that is insane! Just saying though, if I was sitting as a civvie in the back of that Helldiver(?), with the wing-over at the same height as the weeds, there'd be a mighty brown stain left in the seat after.
  11. Did this result in a crash?? Surely there's some codes being broken there??
  12. Lol, I've the utmost respect for you Viper, but you wouldn't get far working in a design-lead software firm! ;-) There is no place for a 'oh well, they'll make do' attitude in my company, that's for sure. I'd come down like a ton of bricks on a developer who said that! Yeah... I hate this feature too....
  13. Favourite c64 game? There are lots of goodies, but the only one that really sticks in my head was Wizball
  14. I believe this, although I think OOTOP forgot to add ".... but very shortly thereafter, fell back down again. Permanently."
  15. Peter Jackson's having a real challenge with filming The Hobbit, because he's filming the 1st ever Hollywood blockbuster @48FPS, and test-audiences sure as hell can tell the difference between that and 24FPS... not that they like the results, but that's a different conversation.
  16. Ahh, good old 'versions' of reality! I didnt see ANYONE complain.. Merely collective agreement that something was different...
  17. errr, ooops! I obviously have the attention span of a gold-fish. Screenshot... of course. Nice.
  18. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it suddenly occured to me in the shower that the 'easy' part will be getting a HUD setup and reflecting .... But the really really hard part will be calibration to match required size and ensure complete plane-alignment of the HUD with the world-projection... otherwise gun-lead firing solutions and TAD symbology will be useless because they won't align properly with the main world-projection. Any thoughts on that? My dumb approach to calibration might be: 1) Don't export the HUD; have it displayed on the 'no-cockpit' view via main projectors. 2) With plane parked on-ramp and HUD alive: 3) Place post-it notes/mark-points on the projection-screen at key HUD elements (4-corners plus central) 4) Export HUD off the 'no-cockpit' view onto real-world HUD. 5) With plan on-ramp and HUD alive, align real-world HUD setup to match the post-it notes. 6) remove post-it notes ;-) Or am I over-complicating this??
  19. edit: Arrggh, sniped by Deadman! Nice... Sorry to butt in, rep all round btw! I'm lurking massively here, just not active 'cos I'm in between pits and have no machine at the moment. Random aside: 1) What are the dimensions of a real-life A-10 HUD? 2) Flim/sleepara, what glass exactly did you use? I had thought of using as thin acrylic as I can find with this overlaid: http://www.purlsol.com/products_bymeter_list.php?catid=92 Stupid idea? overkill?
  20. What the heck are those vertical canards just aft of cockpit? Lovely liveries though in that photo. Definitely a bit of a mongrol, but I'll settle for 'special style'!
  21. That is the future surely, just a matter of when...
  22. Wow, never seen one of those before. Wings off an F-16, tail from a Harrier, nose/cockpit off a Hawk (but pointy), exhaust off a Phantom, intakes off a Hornet, payload off a Frog.
  23. The devils in the details indeed! Nvid 3d vis/ eyefinity / 2x1 .... Like the projector specs you were on about, all the pieces of the puzzle are there, just seemingly not in the same place at once! Maybe if i drag out the house renovatons long enough, the hardware will be another gen evolved... That and some fast jets will be waiting to be bought! :-)
  24. Sorry, and thx Brad! Did not know that nvid route can not handle 2x1, valuable tip. AMD can do 3d just like Nvidia 3d vision, right?
  25. Hi Brian, Fantastic photos... Helps visualize potential setups for me. Ive Long term serious plans for a multi pirojector setup.. Currently flooring my attic in prep. Always assumed I'd have to go 3 x 1 set up because otherwise the hud would cross the join of a 2x1 setup. Can you dial in the join so well that its not an issue.?.. If so, fantastic. Id be more than happy with the field of view in those pictures you showed, and im going to save money in projector and gpu too...
