  1. +1 to those around page 10-13 that conversed with Nate in distilling the souce of the concern from people, around 3rd parties announcing planes a la DCS: F16. The expectation is that any such monikored release is identical in quality/FM to A-10/BS/P51 I think all party planes should be released as: Iris: F-22 And great fanfare is then made when such a product is given the elevated distinction of being allowed to be titled DCS:F-22 by Iris. My only 2-cents in this thread!
  2. For UK members, I've just seen a documentary scheduled on TV tonight about the P51, BBC4 at 10pm... followed by show on the Harrier.... Freesat, set to record...

    Prometheus

I loved the 1st 3 films (not the rest), and I'd totally recommend Prometheus. Sure there's a few eye-brow raisers through the film, but the good outweighs the bad! The internet has hugely mixed reviews about the film, I think it's a Marmite of a movie, love it or hate it.

    DCS: EDGE

I love the way you're implicitly dictating what ED's marketing / release schedule needs to be! Y'know this heavy handed statement is exactly why they're not talking as much this time round (compared to pre A-10C)??
  5. Incredible news, in fact it's so amazing it's almost too good to be true. They need to get photos of the planes in situ asap
  6. Because to this technical neophyte, I can only imagine it's incredibly hard to implement. But thumbs up, am really interested in following your build if you realise this!
  7. Haggart, Are you going to create an actual collimated HUD infront of a projection setup???
  8. I think you were sniped Cyber! :) Ok, thx both, I get it now. Very difficult to get those gameplay subtleties across in a video of 2 giant mechs wading through water at 10mph with laser-beams permanently etched onto opponents torsos!
  9. Don't flame for the following, because I have no experience with Mechwarrior or the gameplay elements.... But looking at the video, I don't get it. You have huge, slow-moving targets. It looks to the uninitiated like you just put your crosshairs on each other and keep holding your trigger finger down until one of you falls over. What am I missing!!
  10. I don't think that's a legitimate conclusion ;-) I would say it's not so common because of simple complexity / cost / space requirements. I'm planning a move myself from 3x19"LCDs to 3x100" projectors. Have played with NTHUSIM and it's amazing how easy it is to blend / warp 3D games... the big downside for me is the cost. That's the only potential road-block.
  11. Bravo that man! You Sir are a God amongst men. Mad as a hatter too. This is you +2 yrs. The neck of a tree-trunk, eyes of a loon. http://bp0.blogger.com/_-seJHCmeNOE/Ro6WziYOQwI/AAAAAAAAAHw/_vp0WuYAA30/s1600-h/smile+cross+eye.jpg
  12. I would LOVE to see support for curved screens. I'm another one running triple screens, currently 3x21" LCDs (+1 for HELIOS+MFDs) If curved projection was properly supported that would instantly become top of my todo list.
  13. There must be a thread on this somewhere, but I've just noticed Wags has changed his avatar to a pic of plans of F-18 and F-16. What does it all mmean! Teaser...
  14. Because SAMS and tanks are exactly the models YOU as a virtual A-10 pilot spend most of your time looking at (through the TGP and out your rear window as you egress). Apart from those few minutes while you taxi to the runway, the fighters are TOO far away and TOO fast to justify the re-allocation of effort (within a limited-resources entity) away from major areas like new locations, new avionics, future products, etc. As you understance the importance of priorities, IMHO ED have correctly prioritized their wishlist according to the business brief set out by the business directors. A-10 are not competing against HAWX, and thus this is why eye-candy has taken a back-seat.

don't get me wrong, the T800s badass! But the Shackleton was unique!

    Android phones

that's a funny ass thread. But everytime I see that Shackleton avatar I smile, it's got one high anthropomorphic quotient! Agree with everything you say. This is actually my 1st ever proper phone.... I've delayed in buying one for years, waiting for something I truly couldn't say no to... Even though I've got an iPad and iPod Touch, which are great in what they do, as soon as I saw the S2 I said to myself "Thank God I don't have to buy an iPhone now!" And in my office at work, 3 out of 5 of us have now all bought S2s. In fairness I am not a power-user of my phone (I don't do social networks and I've got bigger toys so I don't game on it).... the only killer feature I use apart from the phone, video and integrated email client, is the Google Sat-Nav. The combined integration of Sat-Nav + Google Earth + Google Maps + Street view is awesome. My Garmin is due for Ebay some day soon...

+1 to everything Ethereal says, I have an S2 for exactly the same reasons. I LOVE being able to just browse to my NAS, and drag/drop a 1080P MKV onto my phone, and it plays awesomely with the dual-core CPU and the amazing OLED screen. Try doing that with an iPhone... oh yeah, you can't! Hey Ethereal, what happened to your recent avatar pic of the tailgun of some bomber? I thought that was deadly cool, looked like a robot that had been sniffing paint-fumes, much better than a dime-a-dozen T800 pic! <ducks for cover>
  18. Omg that videos amazing. Id pay serious money to be there and hear /see / feel that.
  19. agreed, v. interesting. Would love to hear that excruciating story from the R&D days.
  20. Could one of you 5x1P people do a Youtube video of the sim in action? I'm well interested. But I have a question, instead of 5x 24" portrait, how about 3 x 40" TVs? Wouldn't that give at least the same size, with less bezels?
  21. You guys have WAY too much time on your hands!
  22. Sounds fun, but could only help if the Aggressors were Irish terrorists!
  23. for my technology news... http://www.slashdot.com http://www.theregister.co.uk
  24. Well theres an anti corrosive fim applied for a start which makes soldering a bitch, and the heat/space tolerances are so fine as to make it extremely difficult. Id just give up and get anew mb..
