How Germans learn to park Fighter Jets
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Kusch's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
So how long before someone asks MBot to make a static object of a beer can so we can try that in Lockon? -
Yeah I always wondered about this. Unlike probably every other Flight Simmer in the world, I actually bought Lockon before I bought IL-2 and was real impressed with the way the ship wakes look in IL-2.

*New movie: Speed 2 teaser-trailer*
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nice as ever..... -
Nope, I'm afraid you still haven't convinced me. How will FCC jurisdiction "cover" Russia? There are no US laws that "cover" me in the UK where, for example, I am free to smoke a big fat Cuban cigar if I want to. A UK manufacturer might choose to make a product that will meet both European Union and US standards if he wishes to export to both markets, but that is his choice. If he wishes to sell only to the EU then he won't bother meeting US standards.

Really? I don't think so. The Russian Govt may well have killed off some mp3 sites due to copyright/intellectual property rights (good for them). I completely fail to see how you can then tie this to the removal of SF which is a device which preserves intellectual property rights by preventing illegal copying .

I thought that was the allocation per Motor Rifle or Tank Regiment (not Division)?

I liked it.....

I'm surprised at some of the negative attitudes this thread has produced. This guy (Andrew Tikhonovsky) has created something that must have taken him a great deal of effort - good for him, we should all be grateful. ED are presumably spending a small amount of effort looking at adding it into Lockon, good for them. If it adds another well modelled AI aircraft into Lockon that might enable folks in the Community to come up with more varied missions (eg civilian airliner hijacked, etc, etc), then I'm all for it.

As prophet said, it is to do with how tracks are made - only recording key/stick inputs and recreating the flight - this technique makes for small size track files, but means that patch changes can sometimes (like in this case) mean that tracks wont playback as intended on later versions. I think most folks run the training tracks whilst they have v1.1, then apply the v1.12a patch. Alternatively watch the video version (from the link that SuperKungFu gave) then fly the mission. Use OPEN MISSION then use the bottom left pulldown menu TYPE OF FILE and choose "Track files", navigate the file structure to the particular training track you want and FLY.

how to shut label in old mission
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to fulcrum251's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
What =Prophet= means is when you are actually flying the mission, you can always press SHIFT / F10 to switch off/on all labels. -
Just flown it - nice mission.

[Movie] 92nd Kodiak Air Force
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to 92nd-MajorBug's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Great action movie Major-Bug, good to see you over here as well as the C6 forum. Added to my ...movies\lockon\french folder. Time to split them up into smaller folders by author, there over 70 in there now!! French Lockon community movie makers rock. -
Here's my current favorite (completely OT) but hysterically funny IMHO It was up on YouTube a few months ago, then was taken off as Warner Brothers (the music copyright owners) complained. It seems that the YouTubers simply keep putting it back up, it is on there lots of times.... Friends of mine went to this Amnesty International show in London last year and said this was the highlight of the show.

Gripen cockpit - "what does this button do?"
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to peterj's topic in Military and Aviation
X1 XA X2 With my background in ATC radars, when I see 1, 2, A then my first thought is transponder settings for Mode 1, Mode 2 and Mode A (or more correctly 3/A since military Mode 3 and Civilian Mode A are one and the same). So I am guessing that button would perhaps lead to a pop up menu that allowed the setting of reply codes for those Modes and also the switching ON/OFF of replying to interrogations on those Modes. The EMGY button could be for the Emergency Transponder response - it is on all 3 panels so whichever the pilot can physically reach in an emergency he can press, it is a different colour, it is in the same position on each panel. Three particular codes are universally assigned for use to indicate emergency conditions with Mode 3/A 7700 emergency 7600 radio failure 7500 hijack There would be nothing to stop a military aircraft using 7700, but the introduction of 7700,7600,7500 postdates the existing ability of military aircraft transponders to send a "Four Bar" Military emergency. This consists of 4 closely spaced reply pulse trains 4.35 us apart, the first reply contains Code information (which might or might not be 7700) and the succeeding reply trains have zero code content, ie are just empty brackets. -
NP buddy.....

unlock missions - Tomas Weiss
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Ardillita's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Most have the password mentioned in a ReadMe file or maybe on the briefing screen. But if not, then as my good buddy IguanaKing says - use the keyboard to overwrite the password with a new one, Ctrl/shift/C and put in your own password eg 1234 Ctrl/shift/D 1234 -
RuGG - a hoity toity person would say "Jag-wahr", normal folks like me would say "Jag-you-uh" but then I'm Northern riff-raff and think castle is said "cas-ul" not "caahh-sle", "bath" not "baarth", etc. I'd also say "wall to wall blart" rather than "I say chaps, lots of attractive girls in this bar" but that's straying into dialect rather than pronunciation..... But to get back on track in this thread - More ships - Russian - Sovremenny, Udaloy, plus older types British - Type 22, Type 23 plus Lynx helo and SeaSkua US - Amphib assault ships for the existing US Marine helo's and LVTP's to deploy from. Ground units Towed field artillery would look nice.

Too subtle for this philistine.....:(

Top stuff. Always wondered what the correct pronunciation of Dzhankoy was, now I know. Seems I've been pronouncing Leuchars wrongly all these years :)

They changed this to make it more like real life US jets (A-10 and F-15) as they have seperate trigger/button for gun/other weapons. The Russian jets were not changed as they do not have seperate trigger/button. This change was actually done in the vanilla Lockon v1.02 patch so likely is not in the FC readme file since that change was mentioned in the v1.02 readme.

#1 There are one or two vehicles in the encyclopedia that are not in the Sim - not sure why....
