Amiens Prison? Dunkirk Evacuation? Battle of Dieppe? Battle of Boulogne? How much detail do you need?
-
Youre bang on with lateral thinking! If you ever get a chance to watch campaigns being played on youtube, youll see what is capable. Even the campaign builders use the same mission editor. What i wouldnt do for some new assets for the choppers.
-
Its no trouble. If you need any help, just come back and ask. Ive done it once- it took me a weekend to build a 'part' working radio for the Blue Angels mission, and i even bound the correct sounds from in the game to each action so you couldnt tell it wasnt real, but if im being honest, no one used it. They just read the briefing and did the mission anyway. I like to think it was because i made the wrong mission. But yours may be the right mission, so if you really want it, you should definitely make it happen. You can do anything in the editor- but its all a little extra work. Wether or not you choose to do that little extra work will make your mission good.. Or flippin awesome! When you compare it to other missions on the userfiles page. Dont be put off. Instead be the first person to implement something that others said was too difficult.. And make an awesome mission that NO ONE has ever made before because it was 'too difficult'. You can do it..
-
Well, What id do FIRST, is plan the mission as a CAP formation. Decide which map you want it on. Have a wingman, then select which other aircraft you want added to the mix. For example, be an FA18 with 1 FA18 wingman, and have an F16 set him as CAP too first, then in the tasks set him to FOLLOW your group. Set up the formation first. Planning where youd like him to fly in relation to your group. Test it, making sure youre happy. Boom- Youve a template for formation flying like the blue angel video above.. Then, start building the radio (good luck- it can be done, but as @sirrah has mentioned, its an immense job.) The hard part is knowing, that what youre doing is exactly what ED would be doing if they did it themselves. Build the radio page by page, having lots of breaks (as it gets a bit boring) doing that stuff. Have ROE changes for 'Engage' menu. Go pincer is a formation flag condition. Go to is a switch waypoint condition. Cover me is an escort task and so on.. Each time, saving it as it will be a template for each new mission you make. Once youve built the radio, all you need to do is copy/paste said F-16 unit. And all those flags and commands will transfer to each new unit thats copy pasted. Then set a late activation, and boom- Mixed flight wingmen. You can get feedback by assigning messages on 'unit killed' tiggers. An awacs helps too. Or, if you dont want mixed flight wingman, you can wait until ED gets around to doing the same work for you, but i doubt its something they'd do, as its not realistic.

Yeah, Thats what i thought he said. You can do it, its just takes abit of work to program the radio. See here where you have to fly with an L39, while in the Yak. Using a random flag generator just makes the flights mixed. The flags, will do all the same things for each of the jets if you just clone the first flight. But youve obviously got to program the first jet. The first time i made that mission, it had radio commands to 'order him to do stuff' just like a wingman, after i gave it to someone to test, he told me 'he never used it'. So i removed the radio, as it just seemed like clutter. In the editor. Also, if you see the last few seconds of that video youll see blue angels and red arrows (its a squad mission), in that mission there are also a few commands where you do need to use the radio. The radio works in the same way, as it would be made in the ME. It takes a bit of effort, but you can 'build your own wingman', using flags in the radio menu. I just dont think anyone knows. If youre struggling, just send me message, and ill help you out.

Sorry, Sure I can. Time more than 1, Flag on 99 (example number youll not use again) If Flag 99 on, set random flag value (flag 99) 1 to 5 (the number of late activations you want- If you want 10 late activations use 1 to 10) If flag 99 value equal to 1 (activate late activation group 1- activate F15 Set up what you want this to do and copy and past unit as many times as you need other units/groups) If flag 99 value equal to 2 (activate late activation group 2- activate F16) And so forth. As long as you set up your first unit right (f15 on escort), you can copy past for other aircraft. You can also clone the trigger to add a second unit join you after the first. The only thing youll need to do, is create the radio menu yourself if you want them to do something 'ie attack your target/fly in formation' which would mean building a 'flag on' infrastructure.. If youre happy with them using their own initiative, leave them as escort and leave their radio on, so you can hear what theyre doing. This can be layered as many times as you need it. You can set up the same generator for enemies for example.. Does this help? Do you have any questions?

You tried, thats all you can do. Hopefully the new update midweek, will bring you joy. If not come back and we'll try again. Speaking to a guy this morning on discord, he mentions he had similar errors in another flight sim. An App called Volanta (a sim tracker) rewrote a majority of his .DLL's on a different game. Although it didnt effect his DCS. Just game him alot of pain in a different sim. I noticed you too had the same tracker.. Im sorry we couldnt help.

Set random flag value allows this behaviour..

correct as is F18 can land anywhere easily.
StevanJ replied to Vampiresquid's topic in Bugs and Problems
Most Airplanes can land anywhere (see videos above), we limit risk by secluding airplanes (that cost millions) to a space thats more secure and work to keep those areas (aiports) free of debris. Limiting danger to others and the airframe where possible. Limiting the cost of maintainance too. The chance of something going wrong in a field is high. The chance of something going wrong in an air base is slim. Can a Harrier takeoff from a Field? Yes. Should it take off from a farp or even an air base? Yes. If something 'could' do it, then it should be left in the sim. I think we cant expect ED to realistically program each terrain as if its its own object grass, ploughed fields, mud, concrete. I think it would be too difficult to define those different parameters to each airplane and map. And because of that we'll never find a system that pleases everyone. Is it realistic for ED to reprogram terrain to accomodate each aircraft/temperature/firmness? Not in my opinion. I think if we looked at the terrain, it wouldnt really change anything, if we looked at foreign object debris, then sure.. But then why not look closely at birdstrike stats too? Why not look more closely at failures, and the FA18 oxygen failure stats? For me the line is good where it is, Its not a bug. Its a great feature to understand that the FA18 'could' emergency land anywhere if it needed to, should you? No. But i dont think its worth looking at as a bug, when foreign object damage and sand would be way more an obvious issue to taking off from dusty areas. DCS accomodates the best example of what we can achieve. At the end its a great game, but its still a game. We cant simulate every single issue, especially until its been proven that it could or couldnt do something in real life. If they delete that part of the simulation, and then an FA18 pilot turns up and says 'it can do it' its alot of work for nothing.. If any of the planes could land on grass or dusty/sandy areas, id expect it to be the marine ones. But what do i know? -
The first Hi fidelity mod will come the minute Putin steps down as PM. The team have got you covered.

I need them.. Ill keep trying when i get home.

Agree, that was my point and explained here. @Vampiresquid He answered you twice. You might want to DM him.. I dont think its a bug. -

Youre right, We should look towards making other aircraft enabled too. As @MiG21bisFishbedL points out, many other aircraft can land on grass. He's pointed out the Mig21 can do it.. Whatabout the; B52? SU25? F5? Hercules? (Gotta refuel while theyre on the ground rright?) Harrier? An26? Now lets look at the Navy FA18. Heres a video of an FA18 being dropped from 20ft in the air. Are you to tell me, that the model we have would NEVER be able to taxi/move/land/takeoff on dirt/grass? Seeing that other aircraft can (Including an 83000KG B52!)- Knowing that the landing gear is able to withstand 14000KG drop from 20ft? Thats the length of a shipping container on its end! Any plane can move on anything if its able to use its thrust to over come its weight. Sadly, until a video/picture comes out, that shows the FA18 stuck in a field, youre stuck, and thats why we have the F16 and A10 modeled as such, theres lots of proof that they get 'stuck in the mud'. I dont think the Marines would use an aircraft that wasnt so robust. Im not saying youre wrong, but i think the complaint is with the server youre in and the type of pilot you fly against. The picture I pasted was a random one. It happened out of the blue, and i thought it was funny. So i uploaded it. However, what you dont see, was my nose gear was trashed on landing (landed at 140 on a tight road) and then trashed on takeoff (hit a sand dune/pit as i 'taxied' back to the road), so i couldnt shoot anyway, i literally limped home and repaired once again at an airfield 150 miles away.. The newer maps are FAR better and more reliable (and realistic) for allowing take-offs from dirt strips and 'hard ground'. Id rather we looked at Caucasus, and allowed the harrier to taxi on concrete. While i know you might not enjoy the FA18's ability to 'emergency land anywhere' I dont think its wrong. I do think the foreign object debris could be looked at, but i know how hard that would be to model. And if someone honestly 'lands on a road to escape the enemy' and has the ability to get it up off the ground without getting shot or damaged, then i think they deserve that extra chance. I get your point, but Im against the idea of worrying about it. If someone lands on tarmac to 'hide from an enemy', then gun them down. Save youre missiles.. Show him your a better pilot. If someone takes off from Parking without using the runway, report him to the server admin if you really are worried about it.. -

If someone lands anywhere, surely its easy pickings. Might I also add, that if i land on the ground, Ive even been shot at by the AI- Even when in an unprotected FARP in a huey.. The only thing that will stop an AI, is a SAM. -

I dont know what that is.. If i knew what that was, id have posted it for you, do you want me to send them to you tomorrow?

When you need to locate any file, you put the name in the search box Bottom left. How does device manager look? Any issues? Whats in the display drivers tab? Onboard video and GPU (should be just 2080ti)? C++ 2019 Redistributable Download might help with fresh .DLL's Intel Dynamic Application Loader has known issues. Wether or not you want to remove that's on you? Ive included my (bin folder) edcore .DLL, Ive NO IDEA what might happen if you want to try it or not. But if you do, worsed case scenario youll have to reinstall the whole of windows again. Or roll it back from from a save point in safe mode. So back your up. At this point ill remind you to recheck DCS 1.5 to see if that boots, and ill also suggest you try nicely asking others from the forum (Put the error codes in the search box and send them a polite message to see if they found a resolve). Look at Deleting the mission editor folder. Just make sure you check the file with defender. If it helps, and moves your crash up from Lua: Lua CPU usage: metric: average game loading: 36.7632 % Maybe youll just need the other files too as they crash. Otherwise, ill have to check in on monday (two days from the big update).. edCore.dll

Same 3, Can you lower security? It could be bit defender is preventing the game from starting up. Disable the service (Both of them) and reboot, try unplugging your cable for the net

Can you post DXDiag too please

If you cant get a dcs log get a dxdiag log, theyre just as good. Cheers Also, update your geforce experience, add DCS to that, then use that as a launcher..

Just to double check, the DCS folder isnt by any chance hidden?
