  1. So, the first thing i do when creating a mission is delete data link EPLRS(on) -a. This task bar suggests to me that the AI, 'should attack' what weve designated for them. But allow them to decide to do something else if they feel there is something more important (higher priority). From my thoughts and watching the Mission, The wingmen were seeing the SU33's (who could see their radar from miles out) moving to intercept their radar signature and 'deciding it wasnt worth doing' because of the threat. After i deleted the Data link, and explained to them that they should turn OFF their radar (as they are firing HARMS with their own seeker), and attack ONLY the targets we told them to, the parameters change slightly, the SU33's seemed to take a little longer to see them, so the FA18's ignore the SU33 for longer, and carry on mission- destroying the SAMs, until they run into the SU33's. Whatevers at the top of that list is what the AI will do. If you put 'Refuelling' at the top, and Search then engage underneath it, the AI will refuel then kill the bad guys. If you put 'Search the engage' at the top, and Refuelling underneath it, the AI will destroy the bad guys, then refuel. They carry this 'to-do' list all the way through the waypoints add to the list as they come, and dont ignore them, until they either do the task and check them off, or something that effects their task troubles them. So you have to tell the AI to ignore the trouble, or deal with it (ROE). ie Scenarios, You want to drop bombs on an airfield with CAP defences. Wp1 ROE only designated. Wp2 Search then Engage>Tank The AI will ignore CAP and do its utmost to destroy the ground target first- and unless it gets fired upon by CAP and its in iminent danger- it will look to do this first. Wp1 ROE Priority Designated. Wp2 Search then engage>Tank The AI will make an assessment of the danger and clear the iminent danger first (sometimes Jettisoning stores) to complete what it thinks is the bigger issue (clear the CAP). Wp1 ROE Return Wp2 Search then engage>Tank The AI wont do anything, until you tell them otherwise, or until theyre fired upon. Youve done great, just a few more tweaks and itll all come alive! The FA18's do try to fight the SU33's, you have the right ideas, but in the wrong orders.. Have them turn on their radars the minute the radar UNIT is destroyed. This trigger should be the green light for the Harriers and the F14.. All i could hear when i played the mission..
  2. Recently got back into the Hip, But im having issues with certain missions. Can anyone else verify this? This mission always takes a VERY long time to load (sometimes as long as 5 minutes on an i9 -2080Ti) and longer to unload. When it does, the mission debrief has hundreds of 'Dead' things (even after closing the mission after 5 seconds). Ive recently noticed if i play on this mission, When i come to close my computer i get .DLL errors. However, if i dont play this mission and stay on any other map, the computer closes down normally with no errors. Hopefully its worth a look at. As the performance loss from opening this mission is unusuallly significant). Many thanks.
  3. I cant view this as im on my phone, But last night i made a mission with the sole purpose of as you said' Bait enemies into another squad. Make Spit CAP, Try 'search then engage in Zone'- for the spits', Expand the zone, Then as long as you fly the Anton into a position where the Spits can see them (notice them visually), and theyre 'in the spit'z danger zone- They will attack, until they destroy the antons or the A8's fly out of the 'danger zone'.. If the enemies dont see the Spit, they wont attack them. If the Spit dont see the enemies, they wont attack them. You have to imagine youre actually in WW2, Youd have to 'radio base' to ask for backup, Or radio the spit for 'back up'. If you dont want to add the radio command, youll have to assume that the spit wont see the antons, and so must make a conservative attempt at getting them to notice you. If you watch the horizon, youll see in my mission vid, there are 2 bandits in the distance. Sometimes they dont see the FW, because they are flying away, If theyre flying in the direction of the gunfire, theyll see it and come to fight. If you want the AI to do something other than 'act normal' you have to program them to. Hope this helps.
  4. Yes, Read the description in this video "As he attempted to land, the aircraft took a sharp turn. The pilot tried to correct it but by that time the plane was under a 90 degree angle while still sporting significant speed. When the plane reached the grass, its right landing gear broke off and which forced the craft on its wing." This is an argument AGAINST the Viggen landing on grass. All the information ive found sounds like the viggens landing gear just isnt as strong as the FA18's. And i said take this video and start a post in bug reports, 'add a track showing it cant be done in game'. Do the same with the SU33 if you think it needs it, but i cant find any information in the SU33 landing gear, so i cant make an argument for that. And as the model ISNT hi fidelity i dont think youll find anyone that is bothered. But you should definitely try. If youd like me to come support you, just send me a DM.
  5. Did you program the AI?
  6. Let it go man.. As the Mod has said 'You are on dry hard ground of course it can.' It is not obsurd. If a 737 (41,145kg) can take off from grass. An FA18 can take off from dry hard ground.
  7. Added a comment, perhaps if you do the same we can get a little feedback. Cheers
  8. @bkthunderPost the link, and ill join you in a rebump..
  9. This was really nice work! Great Mission! Your priority tree is wrong.. ROE should always be ONLY DESIGNATED in SEAD. This make it there number 1 mission. Priority Designated, should only be used if in an open battlefield. Deleted the clutter, this now works, Your FA18s now expend there 88C missiles. Then are wiped out by Su33's 88C's Target destroyed F-14's dont advance though as theyre on a timer (Make that a unit destroyed trigger, or a moving zone on the FA18s) Great work all the same though. A real nicely well thought out mission.
  10. Okay, Yes- The AI is the most horrible soul destroying thing to deal with in the game. And the biggest problem is some mission makers arent dealing with the AI and programming them correctly. Being honest, ive put my fair share of bug reports, and complaints in. But this is something that always need thinking laterally. Long term- its only going to get worse before it gets better. From the Roadmap, i think i saw end of 2022 (might be mistaken), but i know delays happen, and other stuff is ahead (damage models etc) But we can work around the issues. Normally the AI will assess the biggest threat and priorities whats most important. If the Cobra see smoke trails, followed by their armour blowing up, theyre gonna do what they need to do to stop the armour being destroyed. That means - theyre coming for you first. They are reacting to the biggest threat, you. So if you dont want them to act under fire -you have to program them to ignore 'their own logic'. Firstly, TASK 1 ROE 'Only Designated' Were telling the AI, Only destroy what i designate a target for you if its not designated, dont attack it even if attacked (although this might cause them to RTB if damaged).. Then TASK 2 'Search then engage group' this is the Cobras mission, here they will search for the designated target and wont stop until they are destroyed- set them to CAS and use the task menu, telling them what you want them to destroy.. Once they achieve the mission, theyre going to need to do something else. TASK 3 (Upon Group Dead>Flag On 1- depending on group) set ROE to 'Fire at Will' condition flag on 1, this will put the Cobras back into 'logic mode', they will now assess all threats in the area and shoot at whatever they think is highest priority (that may be you). If you dont want them to fire at anything after theyve achieved their mission, just set them to 'Return Fire'. So now you need to think about whats going to happen after either you or the Cobras achieve their mission (destroy the tanks).~ Heres a template, Watch what happens, The Cobra will now fly right past you (giving a little wave) and start to attack the tanks on your side. Copy Paste the Units to add more tanks/helis and have a good look at the directions in the Task menu. Whatevers at the top of the task menu, is their first priority, Theyll go through the list one by one, until each task is achieved and theyve nothing left. Unless something more prioritising comes up (low fuel/No ammo), they will always follow the tasks you give them. If you dont give them tasks, they will use their initiative and do what they think is right to maintain coalition mission objective (attack the other side). 3wa.miz
  11. Sorry should have made that clear, This isnt my video, he's a well known youtuber who dogfights.. All day.. All night. I 100% could NOT kill an FA18, or F16 in a guns only dogfight while in a saber like he does. I dont have the capacity. His specs are PC Specifications: - CPU: Intel i5 8600k @ 4.5GHz Air Cooled - GPU: MSI Gaming GTX 1080 - RAM: Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 32gb 2400mhz - SSD: System Drive 500gb Samsung EVO - SSD: Storage Drive 480gb Crucial BX100 - SSD: Games Drive 512gb Crucial M500 - SSD: Recording Drive 500gb Crucial MX500 - MOBO: MSI Gaming z370 - PSU: Corsair 750W - Case: Corsair 460x ──────────────────────── Not particularly 'well specced'. I think the understanding is, you cant expect to give someone a scalpel and then call him a surgeon. Training is the only way to get better.. Coax your SA. If you arent prepared to face real people in multiplayer and actually learn from your mistakes to get better, you just wont get better. Im not against the spotting argument, i just dont understand how HellReign has no issues shooting down FA18's in a Mig15 if spotting really is that bad.. If you watch his videos youll see he always has a sense of awareness in any jet he's in.
  12. You can tell the enemy Heli to ignore you. But what Heli's are you up against?
  13. If you think its a bug, record a track, and supply it when you report the bug.
  14. Just adding my thanks, to the list. Really love this server, spending more time in here than any other at the moment. Great Work. REALLY impressed youve covered Syria. I would like to politely ask for a few additions too, theyve been requested already here Mainly supply runs, to and from farps, pads, ships, buildings and heli bases. I love what you guys have done, but takeoff>hover>collect>fly-back. Gets a little stale after a while. Even a short transport run where i can land somewhere, would be a huge improvement for me, and would allow me to use the Mi8 and develop that skill. The second thing is the 'Dust/Fog', can we please have it off, or on 1 in 10 times and reduced- Checking the weather and webcams in Beirut/Syria hasnt had fog in months, and yet on the server its been on every day for the last few weeks- Its spoiling the map. This map is just gorgeous, and the Fog just covers the glory of it and id rather see where im going to be honest and take in the sights. It doesnt really add a challenge, as you can see the rescues on the map, and once youre close up you can see them too. The fog just means im looking at fog... Or trees. My last request is 'easy missions'. Took a buddy in with me, and he just couldnt get into it- it was far too difficult for him and pushed him away, we ended up spending the rest of the night in 4Ya, could you add easy missions for the new players, so that they can land in a clearing rather than hold a very specific hover? That would actually also give me a chance to jump into the Mi8. As ive not yet mastered that either to be honest. Thanks a million Keep up the good work.
  15. So i tried this It just doesnt work, the dynamics are pre-loaded. The game then takes 2 minutes to boot, freezes for another minute once you press 'fly'. And then the game runs at 4FPS So, Id like to revisit Sirrah's wish. And look at bumping to make it happen, or get an answer towards it. TL:DR I physically tried to add 60+ groups and it crashed the game. The game isnt built for that many units. Having a respawn, would be a game changer.
  16. You mean the synchronised elevator?
  17. You can deactivate a group, but you cant respawn, or reactivate- if the unit has been destroyed.
  18. Hmmm.. You asked this.. Then when you got a fair answer from a Mod- you argued and further created a discussion here. Instead of going to the relevant threads and reporting them as bugs bringing the relevant evidence that other aircraft were wrong too, you carried on the discussion arguing still that the FA18 was wrong, thanking others who supported you, and arguing with those that didnt support you (me). From ED's perspective- the problem you raise just isnt supported by anything, other than a report from you that 'others land on roads to evade fire'. And even just spending 30 seconds typing 'viggen lands on grass' into google brings up this. Which support ED's image to why the viggen cant 'taxi on grass'. And until evidence comes out, that shows a Hornet having the same issue. You just have to let this go with the FA18. As all i can find that shows an FA18 on ground is this video here. If you want to start a bug report with the SU25, then go for it, and feel free to use the video i linked earlier. Now, looking from your viewpoint, you could spend a little more time, and find pages like this. But by just reading the article explains that this aircraft was damaged upon a heavy landing. Hence 'why its on grass'.. I doubt the FA18 would have been damaged in the same situation. I do agree with you, in regards to the Harrier getting stuck on concrete, as i highlighted. But you ignored that and then continue to argue about the FA18 landing on hard ground. So, Heres blue angels pilot Jerry Deren why the FA18 is different from the above mentioned planes. Keys words being said that the landing 'is a controlled crash'. Look at this discussion here. Now no ones arguing with you that 'this jet can do this, and that jet can do that', but youre going to have to bring more evidence to a discussion than 'I dont know if this is meant to do like this..' Between you and ED, ill go with ED. Im sure theyve done the research. But if youd like to start a discussion over in the F-14 section, have this piece of evidence to support your argument. But know that the F14 is nearly 1/4th heavier than the FA18. Instead of getting upset and pointing out that 'other aircraft cant do it', just spend a little time trying to research and support your own argument, and bring some sort of factual validation from another source. There ARE other games, where an FA18 can land on grass and in the same game others cant, if youd like me to send you a video by DM, just let me know. Otherwise if you'd like to bring some discussion to 'landing on grass' Just jump in here and carry on with the discussion. Im for, and suggest making a concrete tile available for Farps. Or make your own request in the wishlist, But if someone doesnt agree with you, you cant make it a personal vendetta. Had you brought good evidence to the discussion, you may have changed my mind.
  19. Ive just shared this, but perhaps its better off here..
  20. I feel you, How about we let ED finish the module before we give it a bad review?
  21. Err, Why havent you listed the F-86?
  22. We wouldnt see it as the current dust model would cover it. And Helicopter assets are extremely more high of a priority. Otherwise youll have nice grass, and nothing to shoot at.
  23. Is this the Mi8 gunship appreciation thread?
