  1. Id love a 'wake island' addition to the new Mariana' Map.. Its 1000 miles away though..
  2. Whats your VR settings?
  3. Is this a Contribution post? Ill contribute mine.. No FPS drops unless in multiplayer.. 45 FPS steady in VR. If i lock the FPS with Oculus Tray, i can push to fully high settings but only in single player. But im happy as is. I9 9900k, 16GB Ram, 2080ti, SSD Raid 0 configured, Quest And a 4k 144hz Monitor that i use to build missions/videos where i get 60hz.
  4. Yikes, that was a big FPS drop.
  5. Wowzers.. Is there anyway this might be linked to a script? I get massive stutters (not as bad as this) when online and 'crates are unpacked' by someone else. If no-one plays the combined arms part, my games normally super smooth.. But the minute someone boops into a huey, and loads that crate.. Im stuck in a literal 'earthquake' of stutter. The only other time i get stutters, is with 'ground effects' explosions, clear scenery, smoke etc..
  6. Great video!
  7. Is not the same as fighter sweep?
  8. This WOULD be amazing. It would result in amazing free mods. And sadly that would stop ED from being able to charge for assets.
  9. Yup, Ive the EXACT laptop, running VR, works great. However, Reverb G2? I use a quest, and a freind of mine just returned his G2 to Amazon, as it didnt run well on his 2080 Super..
  10. Interesting. So, could this be added to the end or the middle of a mission?
  11. Just pick whomever you think gets you in the game quickest. At the end of the day, the tutorials all teach you the same thing, I find GR tell me everything i need to know. Which buttons to press, how to make the screens do things etc I like them! After a while you'll find your own and youll settle on personal preference. VR, if you can afford a used 'Quest' (£140 on ebay right now) then definitely! As youll be playing in 3d, everything comes with depth perception, which not only helps in the immersion, but also allows you to build some 'muscle memory' when learning where the buttons are. Dont go out and buy a G2, the guys i fly with have replaced them with Quest 2's.. G2's are the best VR headset, but they cost twice as much as the quest, require more powerful hardware, and they dont particularly run very well. The Quest 2's seem really well optimised, you can lock the refresh rate, and play single player in High. But id always advise you try it, before you commit to it. Hence a quest 1 will do just fine. If you buy a VR headset, youll never go back to 2d. Modules. My heart lies in the FA18. And ill always recommend that first. If i do a mission in the Hornet - Its an easy day! Its forgiving- You can make MASSIVE mistakes, and youll find yourself still in control just trimming out. It can carry a HUGE amount of ordnance- 8 A/G JSOW missiles which you can fire from 30+ miles out, and a couple of bombs to finish off Or 12 A/A missiles. Its LOADED with different features- Youll be learning it for months! It can operate from land, sea and refuel in the air. Its nearly finished (in terms of actual work left to do). Id advise that over FC3 because its just 'everything' you expect from a DCS flagship module. While i love the different modules available, i always end up in the FA18 when i 'want to get stuff done'. Its a hammer. Smashes everything in the right hands. The F16, is pretty new. Its a rocket ship- I love flying it, but unless im with a squad of them, Its a tough day! The features arent quite there yet either. You can only carry 6 A/A missiles, but 12 'iron bombs', or 6 MAV's. And while i love the F16, when im in it, im always wishing i was in the FA18. Its a scalpel. Cuts through things -Altitude, defences, valleys. Its not forgiving in the slightest, and even A/A refulling is a tough, when compared to the FA18. The Jeff.. Ill be honest, heard great things, but i dont own it. Its not something ill probably be interested in either.. Everyone i know that owns it, love it and prefer it over the F16. But i just love pushing full burn in the F16 and climbing like a rocket. My list if i were to start from scratch, Id buy in this order.. FA-18 Warbird (I prefer the FW190D but choose your favourite as they all have differences in the game) Huey Then all the maps so i can play them online. FC3 F-16 Harrier A10C2 (Its MASSIVELY complicated compared to other modules, and is currently having issues with VRTC so id keep an eye on this, but its really decent when its working) Yak-52 (Awesome flight model! But no damage. I let the kids fly this around, a 6 year old can fly it, its that easy! Doesnt do anything but flys and land - So buy in sale) L39 (Fun but youd rather be in the Yak, its great for doing aerobatics if youd just prefer the flying rather than shooting)
  12. Yeah we know, if you look @sLYFa mentioned this above, it was a hypothetical question, A boy can dream- Right?
  13. What damage have the Grim reapers done? Ive learnt everything from their videos, so im interested to know why you think that. @Rutty Po Po Buy the first thing youre interested in, Fly, learn to shoot, bomb, and evade. Then ask yourself what youre enjoying, and focus on that until youve mastered it. Then buy more of the same.. Then and only then if you want to take this 'super serious', look at the manuals.. Truth is, I bought the FA18, went over to FC3, then the A10.. And then went to Warbirds.. Tried to take the game super serious, but it bored me. You can spend all night reading a manual, then you can spend 5 minutes watching a Grim Reaper video.. In the end, all we have left is time, and id rather not spend my night reading a manual, if i can be shown a quick and efficient way in 5 minutes.. That means the nights spent playing the game and having fun.. What type of planes you looking at? Ground attack? Fighters? What interests you?
  14. Games are supposed to be fun, not stressful. Its okay if you cant air to air refuel. If you want an 'automated' air to air refuel- I support it. And if anyone ever needs help, in 'trying to refuel in the air', Just send me a message. Im sure i can point you a few tips no one else has mentioned, to help with the training..
  15. Would you rather it was exteneded to the West to include the Cities and the Supercarrier, Or to the East to allow monument valley, and the grand canyon?
  16. I can imagine it now. You start at Incirlik, get into a Chinook, armed up ready to go, you look out the window for the 40 minute journey taking in the beauty that is the Syria map, you fly over cities, mountains and lakes.. After 40 minutes you reach your destination Hatay, You touch down, ready to walk over and jump into a Humvee to move into an area where insurgents have taken over a small village. After the 30 minute drive, you approach the border of Turkey and Syria.. Where you see smoke billowing into the air, you jump out the Humvee, ready your weapon, and prepare to snipe targets from afar. You see an APC- As you casually sit, waiting for the shot, you sit still for 10 minutes... Then.. 'BOOM!' Someone else in an FA18 has launched JSOWS from 30 miles away, and has done the work for you. You then walk back to the Humvee, as you need to get back to base.. After the 30 minute drive to Hatay.. And another 40 minutes in the Chinook, You land back at base.. 'DCS: FPS Simulator'.. On a serious note, I absolutely love Combined Arms. But no one else does in Multiplayer, and there are no missions for it. Its not even a 'unit' on the userfiles page.. Why not try to make a few missions for what we have, and see if you can garner some interest into it? It works really well in Multiplayer on the right missions, which is a shame. But in the wrong missions, its awful. And the AI, really is pants. Especially with the current damage model. I was destroyed by a Humvee TOW from miles out, and i was in a T-90 that couldnt drive through an orchard.. The Humvee just watched me (saw him turn and aim for 5 minutes), as my AI tank just drove around and around in a circle.
  17. I agree, you only have to search through Reddit, to see this division is quite a large problem for that part of the game.. While id love to pull my friends into DCS and garner players to support the growth of the player base. Its just not going to happens while things are- the way they are. Because of this structure DCS will always be pushed aside for Warbirds, And its older brother Il2 always get the players.
  18. Im trying to help- But you arent willing to; Make a video- to show in what instance it would be needed. To see if it needs priority over another bug. Make a video- to show at which range the bandit 'disappears', to promote a fix. Make a video- to highlight your settings to allow others to compare their (and mine) machines to gather some data into how/where and why it happens to see if there are any ways to see instant visual improvements.. You havent even posted a track. If you arent willing to work towards highlighting the issue, then perhaps you shouldnt be posting here in the first place.. Ive tried to replicate this, and yet i cant. I dont think you should be highlighting the issue in the first place if you cant just do a few things towards helping others who might have the same issue.. Its not personal, but you arent really doing anything creative except highlighting a complaint from two years ago thats out of date, and comes with comments to which seem to resolve the complaint when addressing in game settings..
  19. No, i get it.. Its draw distance thats why ive opted for lower settings and an 'extreme' draw distance -visibility range. And its why i asked for a video. I dont know in what instance id need to spot an airplane from the parking spot of a airport. If youre in the air and point your TGP at the ground and swing it upwards to the horizon, pretty soon youll hit the limit of visibility range, and all youll see is a line of the horizon as it loads (around 45-50 miles for me). If youre flying and 'the plane disappears' does it disappear off radar? Im struggling to understand why youd be dogfighting at over 50 miles unless youre in the Tomcat and youre sending a phoenix. In which case i guess youd never see the plane anyway. Spotting issues? Fair enough if youre upclose. But highlighting a complaint thats over 2 years old, doesnt really help unless you can explain why you'd want to see that plane while sitting on a parking spot at an airport. Were on a limitation of a program, which is why is said: 'I think until technology catches up to the game, or the games optimised to the technology, you're best just moving to 'lower settings' to get the best out of the game in VR. If youre unprepared to adjust settings to improve gameplay, then theres not much else you can do other than turn the game off.' While id love a 200 mile visibility range, and the ability to play this game in 12k on a VR headset that runs at 600hz. Were just not there yet in terms of technology.. We possibily could have a longer draw distance one day, when Nvidia release 5090ti's, and im running a 16th gen i9 with 2 tbs RAM, but until we do, I think its best trying to be realistic. If there was issues within visual range while in a 'close up dog fight', then yeah.. Maybe i could see you point. But even when those issues, arrive they can be resolved just by adjusting the settings in the game.
  20. Ive seen it, but its two years old. The issue in the video is that he has the wrong settings. Is this the only issue you have when spotting? You know you have a radar right?
  21. Can you please take a video with Alt F9? I still dont know what you mean.
  22. Have you tried to run the non-steam variant? Im struggling to understand your issues- You say that you have no issues in VR but trails disappear in 2D? ie running it with trackIr or just on a monitor?
  23. Ive tried this game on a plethora of different systems, from an i3 RX580, to an i9 2080ti. Ive got a 4k - 144hz Monitor, a 1080 144hz monitor, and a Quest. 1080p, Issues with spotting, but i can still make out 'movement' if i focus. 4k, no issues with spotting. VR, no issues with spotting as long as Pixel Density is as high as it can be. I can promise you, itll be your settings. Perhaps if you brought to the discussion your in game settings and hardware to the discussion, you might be able to find a common link or problem, youre all sharing that can be easily resolved? I have tried a few different settings, in the hope to get the best out of the game, and the one setting that always makes my game run 'with spotting issues' is changing the pixel density. I find any attempt to change the settings of this game outside of being in it, result in issues. The best example of getting 'better settings of the game, was tactical pascales 'Quest settings'. It made the game run in high everything, but when it came to Multiplayer, it was a nightmare. In the end, i just went to stock. And ive hardly noticed the differences overall. The best settings ive tried and found for best gameplay is to keep PD as high as you can. Mines at 1.6 right now. I think until technology catches up to the game, or the games optimised to the technology, you're best just moving to 'lower settings' to get the best out of the game in VR. If youre unprepared to adjust settings to improve gameplay, then theres not much else you can do other than turn the game off. While id love to enjoy this game in High settings, its just not there yet but it will.
  24. Ive also started having this issue.. Is there anyway this is linked to Nvidia cards? And perhaps a specific driver? And are we all using Oculus Link cables?
  25. If you want to learn Intercepting, get the Tomcat. If you want to learn everything, get the FA18. They are two different jets for two different times. The FA-18 is intuitive, relatively easy to fly and rewarding when flying with more complexity. The Tomcat is great at taking out an enemy from half a map away. The FA18 is great. The Tomcat is great. But they are completely different in their roles. There is NO problem with having multiple MFD's (guys who have multi monitor setups will tell you why they are more productive than a single setup). The Focke Wolf 190D is my personal favourite. Or the Huey.. This question is too vague. So hopefully this helps.. Please step in with your own views here. Ive flown the A10C2, great air support aircraft, but slow when compared to the FA18. Always 'a tough mission'.. The F16 is great, but early on into its features when compared to the FA18. Always wishing 'i was in an FA18'. The F14 Tomcat is superior to most planes except the SU-27 when dogfighting up close where id rather be in an F16 or FA-18 in 'dogfight mode' with the HMD. Whatever i do, i always end up in the FA18, because i can do the most effective work in that airframe. Its just that good. Today i cleared 6 airbases while a squad of 2 A10's and an F16 took down two. It wasnt pilot skill, because im rubbish. Its just down to how intuitive the FA18 is and how easy it is to clear a base with 8 JSOWS and 2 bombs underneath Vs the speed of an A10, and the arnament of an F16. The F16 isnt forgiving. The FA18 is., I love flying the F16 on long range big squad missions. But if im flying solo, im in the Hornet, because it delivers so much more per aircraft..
