  2. About the smoke, this gives me an idea now. If you are getting chased by a bandit on your 6, just start dumping fuel. Maybe he will lag out bad enough to allow you to turn hot on him. hehehehe
  3. TheChris, you need to read a few a pages back. Everything is explained there. For whatever reason they completely messed up the 120s when they changed something in the recent patch. PS: I also hear the A-10s maneuverability has also been decreased? Someone was telling me how they can't get the plane to turn past 4-5 Gs now. But that's for another section. I wouldn't know... I stopped playing DCS until they fix it. A good 11 of us religious players are slightly fed up at this moment.

  7. EOS is really weird, I agree. I would fly with a friendly in front of me and have my EOS on, and even though I am physically pointing my nose up and down my friendly on a tail on, the EOS said there was nothing there. I mean at like 1000 feet.... He would blink IN and OUT. It's the oddest thing. My first assumption is that EOS has some kind of weakness in respect to how a plane is positioned but... I just don't know. In another thread it has been confirmed and added to the bug list that the Russian planes have their radar lock system not working right. Something is diabolically wrong with them dropping out for no good reason. So we should expect that to get tweaked in the next 2-3 years the way things are going.
  8. I tested the TOR in that thread. ECM did not work for it either in any condition. PS: I did forget about the EOS system of the frog, but that also works against heat seeking missiles?
  9. I see that this works for AI and not for players. We all determined ECM is not working and not modelled as per other threads including the major ECM thread from teh SU-25T post and has been confirmed it doesn't work in game against any SAM right now. Absolutely 0 effect. Thread here, and confirmed by you yourself (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100247) As far as flares go, it's a hit and miss but the strange behavior of flares is quite annoying when against AI. I can shoot Aim-9s all day long at a SU-25 that is not manouvering away much at all except a little tiny bank to the right, and he pops 2 flares every 1.5-2 seconds, and each and every aim-9 will miss on a tail on condition, with each aim-9 hard locked on the SU. A video clip of this is here ( I will note however that i was engaging at a slightly long distance at first) at 3:38 Repeat this with a human player and it's different, so is it that they have a different countermeasure system as well aside from the simple flight model system? PS: Pretty much almost every single missile fired at a helicopter I have observed in F2 mode almost always misses. TOWs and SAMs of all kinds just wizz right past Ka-50s when they are hovering, literally not moving. I noted this a while back, and was told by a ED tester that this is accurate behavior against helicopters. And I was all like:

  11. No smoke mod, but the ships fires really did look awesome didn't they? What pisses me off is how invincible the infantry are to gun rounds. I mean go full 720p and watch that one nice pass of me strafing the road in one go. That entire road was littered with infantry and NOT A SINGLE KILL. Not one! What's more baffling is that my wingman did the same exact strafe a few seconds before me on the same people, and he got no kills off of it either. Something is severely off with the infantry damage...

  14. Riptide, it also seems to me that the Blue side is pretty much always favored over the Red. It's painfully easy to get to the main base area on RED, and painfully hard to get to Blue. Perhaps I'm joining late on your server and perhaps see the effects of blown up SAM cover, but this is in every configuration I have seen the 104th server in, the Blue is much more elegantly structured out. For example, I am able to roll up on the Reds AWACS without a single worry in my head, Blue has the AWACS being covered by 2 ships and 2 support ships next to them. Or am I just joining late as I suspected?
  15. The current AWACS system apparnetly is still busted. Instead of a two hour flight time then RTB, you end up with 3 AWACS all up at the same time. I'm sure you are well aware of this by now.

Lol, yeah I know at 9:20 it looks bad, but the truth is, that to twist my entire upper body under those Gs and my head and neck back to look at a target that is actually on the top back of my canopy is not ideal. Since the seats did not have head rests, at a 90degree left turn, just lookign straight back and supporting my head with my neck muscles was a LOT easier. I'm happy to say that I only lost visual of him once throughout those 3 flights. Which was during our first flight maneuver practice and he was coming in from directly below me. The paint scheme blended in with the dark shadows against the ground and you really coudln't make him out till he got really close. The SUN helped neither him or me. We talked about that and we both said that when we entered the Sun, we were already so close to each other (Within a 1000 feet of our maneuvers) that the planes outline was bigger than the Sun and it made no difference. If anything, it helped to see better due to it for that split second haahah.
  18. He's joining. Got interviews. Passed everything. Now it's in the hands of the air force and... the damn congress that is sacking all air bases in the US and all the pilots into the UAV program... air force in three years is gonna be crap.
  19. Anybody reported the HSI not being correct with the heading on the HUD of the SU-25T even after letting it align for a minute or two before turning on the engines? It also seems to degrade over time. If you were to restart in the same server, and do everything exactly the same, the next time, it would work better or worse than last time. Some gremlin stuck in the instrument panel playing with magnets me thinks...
  20. Yeah the 690 under most recent drivers are causing me pains in certain places. I check my GPU strength, and they don't distribute the wealth between the GPUs. So one just maxes out, and the other is just chillin idle. It's annoying. In other instances the GPU sits at a very low % and the CPU is not even pulling up all it's might but the game is laggy for me. It's weird... As far as FC3 goes, even with water at high (Though there is a visual glitch where water on rivers when flying low appear to be 100 feet below the surface), I get a good 100 FPS. But when certain things are happening or as you mentioned, just looking at one particular area (even if it's an area that has absolutely NOTHING going on, and is empty all the way to the end of the map) I will drop down to 30.... from 100 to 30.... I mean what is that? I'm also told that you essentially render ALL the things that are happening regardless if you are looking there or not. So anybody using a CBU 87 in DCS world, will cause EVERYBODY on the server to drop their frame rate to absolute crap regardless of where they are or where they are looking. That's not right, but we know it's the game. I love this sim, and all that, but you really have to consider what they were thinking making it run on ONE CORE and putting only SOUND on the second CORE.... I'm flabbergasted by that. PS: The best fun is to go with the SU-25, and equip all cluster bombs, then roll up on an area, and just release them all in a ripple effect. Watch the server list drop by 50%.
  21. Yeah, they are Air Combat USA, same company but different guys. They do a BUNCH of different places with different instructors. We had NAVY and Air force TOP GUN instructors. We pulled about 6Gs and did a total of about 17 fights/maneuvers, so we were both exhausted by the end of it all. I'l tell you right now, nobody knows what Gs are until you ACTUALLY hit beyond 4. Holy sh*t...
