[DCS World - A10-C] - RWR Audio Expansion
ralfidude replied to Tetra's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I like it, but I preffered the BMS sounds instead. A very good start though. -
Is there anyway to prevent HUD drift and motion occult?
ralfidude replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It could be toned down a bit... -
No problem mate, it huge though, like there are a LOT of tones... have fun going through it!

If you want specifics Tetra, you should install BMS, and then look at the library section there. It shows you all the SAM and AIR threats and what their corresponding sounds are. Unless someone here wants to do a youtube video for it you can download later? Not sure. EDIT: I could go to the sound library and do that for all threats for you, and if you have youtube downloader you can grab the video and just extract the sound from it, orrr just get BMS and get it from there, unless someone here can send you that data somehow. As far as SA-3 goes, it appears on RWR and immediately starts to go off as a soft lock, then a hard lock at around 1:45 so 2 sounds. At 3:20 you hear little ticks for AAA spikes on RWR, represented as S and A. At 4:10 you hear a weird bwergh sound as a contact spike from a Mig-21. At 7:07 is obviously a SAM launch. At 10:51 I am locked up by one of the bandits, and it also corresponds to being locked up by other friendly aircraft like at 11:06 by a friendly F-16 on my 12. By the way the single half second BEEP every few seconds is the data link and has nothing to do with the RWR.

Different sounds for almost everything, as far as BMS is concerned. Different SAM sites, and different missile types all give off different sounds. Its a bit overwhelming at first but you sorta get used to it. Like here in this video (Probably a bad example) you can sorta tell at 1:45 and onwards there are a few differences between different sites

I have been engaged by a F16 as an A10 for no reason either. Aim 120 must have lost lock of the MIG and instead went ahead and tracked me. So I guess it happens once in a blue moon.
-
We need to get someone here to make a mod for that... The RWR has always been bugging me for a while now after playing falcon BMS, just like the Predator giving off a RWR warning in the A-10 for a full 360 sweep in almost any angle and altitude.
-
Info red, not in the human visible spectrum. That's why if you fire the laser at night you can't see it in the A-10C unless you turn the BTH or something option on the TGP, you will see it with night vision.
-
I just noticed this, but why do predator drones give off a RWR spike at all in the A-10C? I wasn't aware that they have a 360 degree radar like an E3.

It really is a shame when you capture something absolutely wonderful and you can't replay the track correctly. Or more annoyingly so, is it plays completely fine just right up to the point where that something awesome happens, and then the track displays your aircraft crashing when it did not in reality... hate the track system.

can't EDIT: Really strong magnet, swipe through your data cartridge?

Someone here mentioned as well that its not viable to shoot all mavericks like that but there are cases where you must. For example, I went in with a friend to attack an airbase that was retartedly hard defended. Every missile got shot down, so we decided to spam the living christ out of missiles at once to kill just one thing. In this video recording (Go full screen) skip to 1:36:40 to see my friends attempt in SEAD frog, then mine with a-10 and mavs at 1:39:55, by 1:40:45 you can see the amount of missiles being fired every which way, it was psychotic. http://www.twitch.tv/ralfidude/b/431049592

Seeing as this is my video you are referencing, what linebacker did here actually was not markpoints but he just manually fired them off one after the other. Basically when you fire off one maverick at a location, the new maverick will already be looking at that same spot you just fired at, so, all you do is move the cursor, or slew the maverick a bit, and let it auto lock the next nearest thing. He was firing at a tightly condensed cluster of vehicles so it was rather easy, all 6 mavericks in quick succession is all. Mark point attacks are very nice too obviously, but you won't be able to fire them off quite as quickly as how Linebacker did there. I mainly use mark points to drop multiple GPS guided bombs, and to do a maverick pop up attack like explained in this video tutorial I made recently to take out SA-10/11 sites: Just takes practice man.

I believe some time, long long ago, someone made a rough mention about editing some LUA files in order to create your own custom camera angles that you can use to record some replays. Does anyone have any idea, or instructions on if that's possible and/or how? There are a couple of projects I will be asked to do and am looking for some new angles to get that are currently not quite possible with all the external cameras in game as is, and yes I have played with all of them extensively, so although you can get some nice things going, the game severely lacks other possibilities. One of them would be panning, which can be done in another way obviously but it's a pain in the ass... still what I'm looking for is to have a different place holder for let's say when you press F4, have that camera be centered around a totally different point, etc and so forth.

Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions
ralfidude replied to PeterP's topic in DCS Modding
Well I immediately put the mod to work, skip to 5:10 -
delete please

I have been seeing this for a WHILE now, but mainly when things are like 80 degrees to the left of you, it should show the box to the far left of the HUD, but instead it shows up to the right. It's an odd glitch but I can't replicate it, it just happens on it's own.
-
I have been getting this problem a lot lately. Haven't had an issue with it before, and I've had the same HDR on since the beta. It's annoying but the intensity doesn't help and the night HUD mode doesnt either. I just switch to all my gauges below the HUD, like HSI, ADI, etc and so forth and figure it out that way. Good practice really.

This is fantastic! Linebacker just got to sit in the F-35A simulator at an airbase himself. I'm waiting to hear back what he got to see since he's still there now. This should be exciting news to him when he gets back. PS: Finally an announcement that is giving me a boner.

EDIT- stand by, need to test this some more, getting conflicting information.

Currently, THIS DCS with THIS engine we are playing will only get worse from now on. Wait for the new engine that will come with Nevada. Everyone will make a push for map making there as it will allow for more and better things. This 32 bit system just wont handle it right now...

Our little experience in Air Combat USA
-
So the set up was supposedly easy. 3 A-10s go low to intercept a few mobile convoys. Tight terrain and limited weapon restrictions due to the fact that we had to keep low. Why? If you get painted by the search radar, 4 MIG-29s scramble. Things did not go as planned...
-
The missiles are being worked on anyway, by a crew that is not part of ED. By Engineers non the less...
-
So just checkign up here, are the SU-25T SEAD missiles still botched or are they they way that ED wants them? They miss 50% of the time, even with the TV camera focused on target.
