MWS, why do you think you get missile warnings of incoming heat seeking missiles if they dont have radar?
-
depends on the armor. T55s wont have them i dont think.
-
I can confirm Throttle chop helps. I never thought it was modeled so I never bothered, butt then I was told to try. After a few tests, I can confirm that it makes it so that a combination of a throttle chop, Charlie CMS program, and sharp maneuver, will help you a lot. This does not always work, but I have found the missiles diverting to flares or losing lock with this technique about 50% of the time. More or less. Give it a shot (Literally)

Hold on, not that I have tried this, but can't you HOOK the aircraft you wish to track through TAD, and then select the HOOK navigation mode for the HSI, which should give you range and bearing?
-
I still see them since like 2 days ago. The fact that BRDMs are more dangerous to the A10 than a Shilka however, has not changed.

Operation Piercing Fury - MP Campaign
ralfidude replied to Ranger79's topic in User Created Missions General
That was a fantastic job Ranger. Absolutely tight custom sounds, and very good triggers. We are done recording and I will get cracking on the video editing for a while to make it look good. Expect it in the next few weeks. I will post it here. -
Too many G's. Happens all the time.

Top 10 Must Have Mods for DCS and A10
ralfidude replied to megs8888's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
kneeboard mod, zzspace sound mod, NVG mod, RAE RWR mod, and ricardos horse of war mod is what I use currently, no need for any more FPS drops for me haha. -
Dude, Mavericks in the game don't make sense. The K version is supposed to fire at looooonger ranges than the rest, and it doesn't unless you use force correlate. The Ds are awesome but you will never get a lock at 8nm. What's worse is that the maverick doesn't see a blistering hot moving STRELA, but instead it can lock on to a single infantry unit thats around it... It makes no sense to me. There were some times when I had K's freshly started, EO timer is about 4 minutes, and im trying to lock up a ship, not a tiny boat, im talking huge battle ship.... nothing. I literally flew past it, and tried from a different angle... nothing.... Reset the EO, try again, nothing. I eject and don't try that ever again. Then there are times when you fly in a target zone of no other things but the single target you are acquiring, no buildings, no trees, nothing but the target in sight, and you get no lock even when you are within 2nm, and no the EO timer has not gone past 15 minutes even. It's disgusting how unreliable they are. But take it with a grain of salt. I've spoken to warthog pilots who told me that the Mavs are a bit wonky, but depending on the temperature outside it affects the mavericks severely. They told me that in really cold weather they would actually get a lock on the target BEYOND it's maximum range, but in hot temps things would be, well basically how they are now in DCS, though certainly not as fu*ed up as what I've come across at times. You just get used to it is all. Just assume that you are flying in a hot desert. That's Georgia for you. It must be a heat wave affecting things, even in winter haha.

No thanks. Track IR is more than sufficient. Besides, if we get ED to go and start making that available, you can kiss any updates good bye. Just look at where Nevada is right now. Or edge. Or cluster bombs. Or AA missiles. Or... you get the point. There are a lot of things that need ironing out, and though it would be nice down the line, it's not a necessity as long as we all have track IR available to us. At least that's my humble opinion.

I think so. A big shout out to AXEL for that beautiful ****ing save. It came out of nowhere right when I was ready to just give up. I never felt so much pleasure in my life playing Flaming Cliffs 3 as that moment.

You must have been doing something weird. Ed testers have confirmed this for me, NO JAMMERS against SAMs are effective. They have not been modeled, not yet at least. Here is a thread I made a while ago pertaining to this, oh and by the way EOS on the Froggy helps against heat seekers so that might be helping in that plane, but as far as the jammer pods go, nope: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100247 So as you can see from multiple sources and my own testing, they don't work. It's not exactly a big secret or anything. Here is a summary from that thread: I repeated the experiment with the A-10:
-
No matter what happens, No matter how bad the situation is, NEVER GIVE UP! FIGHT IT OUT!

And by 3 minutes he means 4. So basically here is the deal. The EAC switch can ONLY and ONLY be turned on after the CDU has done it's internal navigation aligment, which starts automatically when you flip that CDU switch underneath the CDU keyboard by your right knee. So when you start the plane up, assuming you are going through the procedure correctly, you watch the CDU page and wait the 4 minutes till it hits 4.0.0.8 or so, on the top left of the CDU you will see flashing NAV READY! WOHOO! But, then you need to select NAV from the right side of the CDU page, a STAR will appear next to it. THEN, you need to look infront of your stick and select the EGI button, since we don't want to use HARS (Which is an old navigation system used as a back up in case EGI fails). NOW, that EGI is on, we can finally select our EAC switch ON! So in short EAC is dependent on EGI being on, and EGI is dependent on the internal navigation being done aligning (4.0.0.8) and NAV being selected afterwards. Kapish? PS: Correction from what Ragnar said, EAC is NOT dependent on the SAS switches being on or off before you flip the EAC switch on. You can flip the SAS switches on anytime after the engines are on, before or after flipping the EAC, it won't matter.
-
Jammers are not incorporated in this simulator. They only work against air targets, not against any ground targets. Confirmed and signed off by ED testers. I had a huge thread about this some time ago. PS: Electronic warfare is something they want to introduce later on, meaning never in our lifetime.

I love flying high, spotting a KA-50 and locking him up with my TGP, then LASER ON. Watch them freak out.
-
I have never in my life been sucessfull with that. What they do is restart up to 30rpm, and then immediately shut off again. This of course for the case where engine is hit and the engine shuts down, and there is no fire. If there is a fire I don't bother. I don't bother even putting the throttle to idle to see if it kills the fire because it won't. It's just a quick T handle and fire extinguisher switch ASAP.
-
It is a bit shameful that DCS-A10C wont restart engines after a fire. There should be times where a quick engine restart might still work depending on the damage. That and the throttling back of the engine can also put out the fire without firing the extiguishers but not in game. It's part of the checklist though...

[DCS World - A10-C] - RWR Audio Expansion
ralfidude replied to Tetra's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Tetra, any more updates you are thinking on this right now, or is this a pretty good version for now? I want to redownload this V3 from the original you had, and then tweak in my little sound twirks in there afterwards, like missile threat warning to a more aggressive missile warning tone. As I currently have it set up is pretty damn good as you heard from the long video I posted in the other thread, but it seems like you made a few changes since then. -
Well I went ahead and changed the CONTACT sound, so instead of the beeping contact you get on the RWR I replaced it with one of the sounds from the BMS folder, I just chose something non invasive or annoying that sounded better. I also dug through hundreds of youtube videos to change the flare sound. It sounds a tiny bit better now, since the stock sound is quiet as hell. I still don't like it as much but meh... there are no good references out there. What I really would have liked is this sound at 17 seconds: Im also looking to change the missile warning to something else too from BMS. Probably like a SA-2 launch type warning.
-
For those who would like to see the RWR in action please see this video, the beginning part is probably the most important bit, watch as the plane is surrounded by a cloud of hostility. Then the second part probably around 1:20:05 onwards also kinda shows you a more relaxed version. Better quality in full screen. A word of note, I manually changed about 2-3 sounds there myself. So it might sound different than this mod, but only by about 2%. http://www.twitch.tv/ralfidude/b/439854478 PS: skip to 1:35:05 guns kill, 1:36:50 guns kill, and then 1:44:10 aim 9 kill. It was glorious!!! AHAHhaaha

I need to test this, but i think i have been able to drop the flaps down with the speed indicator busted after i dropped my gear down. So without the gear down, the flaps wont go down above 185, but with the gear down it might force the flaps down if you set your flaps switch to mvr or down. Don't take my word on that one though. I might be paranoid. In fact I'm twitching right now a little...

I think they just took it out, I feel pretty sad that they did...
