We first tested this out at deck altitude, and got ripped apart by just one AAA. We then tried the same from about 5 thousand feet, we got ripped apart by many AAA. We then tried it at 8 thousand feet, which was much more tolerable.

As promised, here is a quick little preview of the Air Combat USA trip I took with Linebacker down in FL. Things did not go according to plan. The actual dogfights will be posted in the upcoming weeks, lots of footage to edit.

After Action Report A-10C - The Shore Campaign - BIA

Nice screenies! -
This Friday actually I'm flying down, and we shall see how that goes.

Yeah, i got it confused. i have it pat down now. I used to rank FOXes by their offensive range, hence, fox 1 made sense to me as a aim 9, fox 2 as a aim 7, and fox 3 as a aim120 But later on i got chewed out by Linebacker who made it clear its Aim 7, Aim 9, then Aim 120 for fox1-2-3 respectively. Apparently back in the olden days, they used Fox 4 for guns. Who woulda known?

Here is the backstory: Linebacker made a very quick and simple mission for us to play around in. We take off and go up against 2 flankers. The first time through it we did alright, however we did not figure out what happened to the first Flanker I engaged. Upon watching the track again, it seems he went back home and used his superior AI skills to turn into a submarine, for no reason at all. We realized later that they had implemented the radar deflection due to the water, causing our missiles to turn to duds essentially. We knew about this topic before hand, but we just never expected it to have been implemented into FC3. It's a good thing we figured it out on the AI rather than on a multiplayer server. We did the mission again, and this time we got both of them to fight us. Though I splash the first bandit, he limps back home (I take care of him at the end of the mission, Line is not too happy). After that it's just some funny footage of us messing about while flying these two missions. For example, everything you have always wanted to do to a tanker but never could out of frustration. Can't always be serious right? SONGS: Ghost in the Shell Soundtrack- Ghosthack Ray Camacho & The Teardrops - Si Si Puede (Lack Of Afro Remix)

Ham, just use the HUD to do it man, like here at 0:30, I dont even SLEW the mavericks, I position my entire nose of the aircraft and press TMS up short to lock up the aircraft, SOOOOooooo much easier this way:

Yeah, you might wanna edit the title to include that it's an RC mate. Kind of misleading is all...

"Nerd³ Plays... Digital Combat Simulator: A-10C Warthog"
ralfidude replied to pered's topic in Screenshots and Videos
It really was a painful video, I coudlnt get past a minute of that crap... He says' This is supposed to be the most accurate simulator ever" 20 seconds later "OH? You can click all these buttons?!" Well NO SH*T! -
Bingo fuel....How do you guys work it out?
ralfidude replied to JujuMan's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
When I hit 2 thousand pounds, I punch all externals, and head back if it's a long journey home, and climb, always climb. It has saved my ass numerous times to just glide to base from a high altitude once all my fuel is gone. -
That's 3pm Eastern? Ah, in that case none of us will be able to show up unfortunately... work and school for us all, 5pm is best we could do, so if its still up by then, then we will join in.
-
Ok, Linebacker, Hotpocket, and myself are in, with the possibility of one more. That's 9pm Eastern time right?
-
that was the gun, you can see in the second shot (If you were paying attention to the dot on the TGP), that the first a-10 was just flying cirlces around the target, keeping an eye on them, while the second A-10 went in for a gun run, the dot shows he rolled in, strafed their asses and rolled out) It's awesome how much detail you can pick up from this after playing DCS A-10C
-
Why? It's an aircraft designed to kill/maim/ and destroy, not send out hugs and kisses.

Does anybody ever remember seeing a youtube video of a CGI/Animated short clip that looked like a preview to a flying game, slightly set in the future? It had at one point an A-10 with two GAU-8s side by side, and updated engines with after burner I think. Does anybody have a link to that?

Ok, since last time I asked them about the 2 seat MP slot thing (F-15E), they simply said "Not at this time". They mentioned that they will not be focusing on that at all, until they make the aircraft first and release it. Later on they will explore the idea if viable. I'm loosly paraphrasing, but they made it sound like it's not on their list of top priorities. I'm sitting there thinking to myself that they must be friggin crazy if they don't.

Looks like I'm getting some promotion going on here:
-
Cool, do we have a time set for this to happen, I need to pass on the information to my possy.
-
except for the UH1Y, none of the other aircraft have been confirmed to be constructed as a 2 slot MP position aircraft as of yet. The chopper will be the first, and then I guess they will try and implement it if it's something they see as viable. I believe you will be able to swap seats, or you will be able to do everything from either seat, not sure, this has not been clarified, but they have not said anything about having two people using one plane yet. Unless I'm wrong, then please do link to source. Obviously we all want to fly the F-15E with a friend in the front or backseat. I would give my right kidney for that chance. They better work hard on it!

Yes, as in, DXtory can only capture game footage, it does not capture desktop. Youtube some setups for DXTORY, it is a bit difficult to get the hang of it from scratch, so watch someones youtube tutorial on it. The BEST codec to use for it is this one (http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html), you will see where that comes in once you look through some of the tutorial vids.

About the Aim-120s, they apparently are bugged currently. After launch they turn way too sharply and lose all their energy, rendering them rather useless at long ranges or against moving targets. Still do pretty good damage with up close, still unfair as fu*k against SUs that do not have R-77 in place... which is why I manually added them in to even out the playing field.

Dxtory is an excellent program and a lot more people are switching to it. Best two features it has are: It does not chop your recordings like fraps, one continuous file until you stop recording. It records two sound streams. The ingame, and then your microphone, so in the editor you can manipulate them separately. Oh, and it also does not make your video drop down to the FPS you are recording. For example, if I am recording at 30FPS, but Im getting 60 FPS in game, then thats what my screen is going to stay at (60FPS). FRAPS drops you instantly to whatever FPS you are recording at, but even lower at times. However it does not record desktop at the moment.

When all is said and done, I come to a few conclusions: It's Flaming Cliffs, reality has not been its strong suit since the beginning in a lot of areas, so I can get over the flight dynamics and such without a problem. However, the bugs need to be fixed by the time they get out of beta mode, server crashes and CTDs are happening upon doing simple things right now, such as simply locking up a friendly aircraft, or shooting down an opponent, silly little things, but it's getting out of hand with the unstability. (I have faith they are working on it now) I am disappointed in the lack of improved cockpits for all the other fighters. Ricardos HD cockpits were used, which is a free download anyway. So I'm still wondering where my 40$ went. I guess what Witchking said is pretty accurate, we are all hoping that the modding community will step up with some fluent 3d cockpits in place of what we have. In the end, let's see where this ends up after it gets out of beta.
