MP Mission: Operation Hacienda
ralfidude replied to Joyride's topic in User Created Missions General
I have 3 eye witnesses for when it happened resulting in mission failure. It's not the civilian convoy I am referring to. Next time, I will screen shot it for you Joy, but since it seems nobody else is having that issue, then I will just presume that it was an isolated incident that is not prone to repeating itself. Perhaps a bridge got taken out or something weird happened. Well in anycase, looking forward to the bug fixes you have planned, since as I said, I am only being slightly picky because we loved the mission. It is simple enough in it's design and we will be flying it again sometime along our long schedule of missions on the list. Good work either way. -

Sorry Eddie, but I disagree. I can show you screenies of everything happening that shouldnt be. Also based on the refueling, other people agreed having the same issue, so it's not a myth. Skill level wise, we are quite good, there is no denying that, not the best at it granted, but damn good. Perhaps the mission is broken depending on what you do, but I am not making any of it up. We will try and have someone else host it, and have another go at it, however if the convoy takes the northern road again I will screen shot it. Last time they wanted to go across the river and stop a few thousand meters north west of grid AA, before getting killed without getting killed. Il report back on our fourth run in on it. PS: Between AA and AAA, we call it out between ourselves 'AA' for Anti Aircraft meaning missiles, and we call out all other threats as 'AAA' "Anti aircraft artillery", it's just our way of communicating so it's easier to understand when timing is short, may not be correct, but it has never been confused by anybody else thus far. -

Yeah the map is not included, and alt tabbing out makes my game crash, I noticed the map is there on my desktop but its not going to help. Also, yes, the Tanker is an issue. I have yet to play where the tanker is not stuck on the same refueling guy. I mentioned it on the dcs question thread, and everybody else agrees thus far. So there is a 5-10 minute buffer zone where pilots are trying to get in touch with the tanker and can't. AA are missiles, shoulder fired, SAMs etc. AAA are like zeuses and shilkas, those we can deal with easily. PS: Is that military convoy supposed to be going to the airport? I checked it's route and it goes up north west, nowhere near HACIENDA. -

Yeah, that damn air to air refueling is ridicolous with multiple flights. But joyride, as far as convoy goes, there is one small convoy of vehicles that moves north and stops at a village compound at the very beginning of the mission, and they call out from embassy saying, hey theres a convoy moving we cant support them, then there is a second convoy that rolls through at the end of the mission much further past the town. They apparently get attacked by ninjas, because all vehicles were accounted for and I kept my eye on it. As for the threats, I couldnt care less about the AAA and what not, its the AA thats bothersome. At some point we got pinged by an OSA too, that took us by surprise, think he got towed though. The grids that they embassy guys give are correspondant to the map in F10? -
Ok, question about AIR REFUELING. People are saying it's not bugged so I figure we need to be doing something wrong. We know how to refuel and all that but this ONE thing is a recurring problem. When we fly, we fly in pairs and refuel in pairs. So one goes off on the side and waits while the other refuels, once he is done, he tells tanker he is done and breaking off. Second pilot calls up the tanker and tanker confirms with the second pilots name, however the option for the second pilot to say "READY PRE-CONTACT" does NOT appear for the second pilot, instead it appears on the menu for the first pilot.... After 5 minutes of saying to break off by the first pilot, tanker FINALLY gives the option to pre contact to the second pilot. Is... something amiss here? PS: For those who did not understand the following: Pilot one= Hawg 1 Pilot two= Hawg 2 Hawg 1 done refueling calls SHELL(tanker): ABORT REJOIN SHELL: raises boom Hawg 2: SHELL, Hawg 2 request rejoin. SHELL: Hawg 2, proceed to blah blah Hawg 1: gets the msg to pre contact instead of hawg 2 Hawg 1: Abort rejoin X 1500 times Then after a while Hawg 2 gets the Pre-contact msg to get to the tanker. Now we tried this by having Hawg one get off the frequency and fly away, we tried waiting a bit and then calling, nothing... it just works after like 20 abort rejoin call backs from Hawg 1, even though the tanker clearly understand its Hawg 2 requesting a rejoin. Are we missing something?

MP Mission: Operation Hacienda

Mission is bugged I'm afraid. Second time in a row the convoy is destroyed at the very end of the mission. I however was observing and keeping an eye on the convoy, and at no time did the convoy ever get under attack. Smoke sometimes does not get popped over targets that he calls out saying he will pop smoke, like for example near the end when the 2nd convoy is leaving (the same convoy that apparently dies though it doesnt) he calls out a shilka somewhere in la la land south of bridge, even though that shilka was really north of the bridge, and said he would pop smoke to mark, but nothing ever happened. TGP wont pick up some of those targets (like the afformentioned shilka) due to the ground signature being the same as the unit signature. ****er peppered my right wing quite severely trying to go low and get him to shoot at me to spot him. I additionally had constant complaints from myself and others about the lack of armaments to deal with the LARGE enemy force that just keeps on coming, with no way of dealing with them and no airbase to divert to. Thankfully the TOW humvees can hold their own. Cannot dive below 12K due to the hidden AA all over town therefore cannot use guns. We somehow managed it, but every now and then it got ridiculous... danger close situations that needed killing ASAP with nothing left to kill it with but guns, so running in, and then out of nowhere, dodged 4 AA's that came from the 5th dimension. The sad part is, we love it. But it could be a little bit more balanced if there was perhaps a way of outlining where the AA is. Or perhaps giving JTAC a laze pointer and having him spot out some things more clearly than the call he once gave us "Spotted man pads about... mmmm.... 8 thousand meters somewhere that way.." Everybody in the flight just looked at each other going... O_o .... "Are you serious? What the heck did the F16's do then?" Lol, either way, dont think I am being too over critical, we all really really liked your mission and find it challenging but it is a bit too ridiculous in certain areas and might need tweaking, hopefully something to consider fixing. -

Upgraded to HD 6770 still getting FPS in teens
ralfidude replied to doright's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Running a pit? You sir will have external monitors running, FURThER decreasing your FPS because of it. I am waiting for the IVY bridges to come out, then I will upgrade my mobo and cpu then, but until then... meh.... I hope that we get word of the Jet by then... F18 or F16 here we come!! -

ralfidude replied to doright's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Well you failed to see that GPu doesnt matter in this game. Well it does but.. not really, not as much I should say as the CPU. To get better FPS in DCS, you need to increase the frequency of your CPU. 2.9GHz will do you no justice here. Get it well beyond that nearing 4.0GHz and you will see a great increase in FPS. Im at 3.2 and I get moments when I look at one part of the map and it's like 19 FPS, but I look in the other direction and I get 60FPS... It's sad, but that's where the sim stands right now. Something to do with the explosions. -
Need help creating AtoA simple mission
ralfidude replied to ralfidude's topic in User Created Missions General
Actually the mission didnt work properly. Two frogs spawn in immediately, with two migs with issiles right behind them, and some more after that, they keep coming in as we take them down and we cannot stop it lol. I will try to edit it in the mission editor but i have no idea what im doing. -

OMG, i love you, have my (A-10) babies! -
After taking out two migs myself with my wingman at my side, we feel ballsy and want to practice some more challenging stuff. I need help creating a VERY simple mission but have never touched this mission editor. Can anybody point me towards some tutorial or possibly walk me through what I need to do exactly in order to come up with the following: 2 A-10 slots starting hot in the air. 2 enemy SU-25s spawn ahead of us (guns only) and we go engage them. After the two ship SU-25s are down, a next wave of 2 ship SU-25s appears. This repeats one more time. Have a friendly base nearby to rearm and refuel, though respawning should just do. I would then like to repeat this with SU-25s but this time equipped with some missiles. Then another 2 files same as above but with mig-29s. Should make for some intense AA training. :pilotfly:

Any chance of getting this to work for COOP? At least 2 players if not more? -
Perhaps in the future I will try to just make it gameplay and no music.

This is Linebackers perspective and his channel and edit, dont miss the sweet barrel roll dodge at 6:54 tTkJFDBq2ao

Good luck getting 60 FPS.

Dont rely on staying high. Too many times you will still get engaged by something that can track and fire at you well beyond 17K. Trust in your maverick I always say, and the RWR to point you in the right direction.
-
Id suggest Flaming Cliffs 2. Dogfighting in its simplicity. You learn everything you need to know from there, the hard way. :) Otherwise, trying to teach you all the different ways to deal with threats will just make your head spin. Though a visualization helps! Here is a mig survival video:

engines would not power down and lower rpm for landing
ralfidude replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Where is a situation where you lose both hydraulic systems but engines are good? I have yet to use the manual reversion or whatever its called. -
Air to Air is easy. Use your TGP to find targets. For example, if you have the time and mavericks, dont waste your AIM-9s. USE MAVS! They have more range, and apparently much more manouverable than AIM-9, which is kinda weird to me, but im not complaining. So, when you find a target, like a chopper, put your TGP on it (In AG mode). Lock it up with TMS up long, and then slave your maverick to it with china hat long forwd, then lock it up with the mav with TMS up short. The above is done EXACTLY the same way you would attack a ground target. The ONLY difference is that its an air target. SUPER EFFECTIVE. Now, ANOTHER way to do it, is if you are in hot pursuit of a target, like an A-10. You are out of AIM-9s, but still have MAVS, well AA in TGP mode will not help you to slave mavs, I tried and it doesnt work like that, and its too hard to try and manouver the TGP to the flying A10 when the TGP is in AG mode if you guys are closeish and pulling manouvers. Soo.... Instead what you need to do is select your MAV selected as SOI, then on the HUD you notice the usual MAV circle, point the aircraft so that the circle is right on target, and keep pressing TMS up short to try and lock, when you got the lock, fire away! Obviously, the easiest thing to do is use the AIM-9s. Master mode to AA, and then TGP to AA mode as well. When your TGP is AA mode, it will find air targets super easy, and you will notice that a mark appears on the TGP over the target when it detects one, as soon as you see that, just press tms up to lock it up. Then china hat frwd, to slave the AIM-9 seeker head to the target. BTW, you do not need to manouver the TGP RIGHt on to the target before locking it up, the second you see that mark appear on the TGP that is sees a target, if you press TMS up, it will lock it up without trouble. If there is too much manouvering going on and using the TGP is not optimal, then the next solution would be to use the AIM-9 circle on the HUD. With Aim-9s selected, and HUD as SOI, if you press tms up short, the aim 9 circle on the HUD will spin, i think you can also move it around at this point. the second the spining circle comes in contact with a target, it auto locks it, then just fire. You can also fire it without locking on target. So if the target passes by you and near the circle and you hear a nice growl tone, just pop it off, it will go after the target. Here is a video montage of some of my first Air to Air kills. I have another much better one coming, but need some more footage before i can finish editing, when I am done, il post it up as well. PS: Dont forget about your gun. Its a great tool for killing, when in AA mode, and HUD set as SOI, press DMS right, and look at the bottom left data information on the HUD, you will need to select the aircraft profile for the proper gun funnel. Gun funnel for an SU25 is different than a gun funnel for an A10 as they have different wing spans, though similar.

Checking your TAD to see where he is?
-
When it gives you the no track msg, it means you are trying to press the weapons release key, but you have not locked on to anything on the maverick. So you must not be doing it right. Remember, if you are using your TGP to find a target, then slave the maverick to where the TGP is looking at, the maverick WILL NOT AUTO LOCK THE TARGET that you slaved it to. All you have done up to that point, is told the maverick to basically look at exactly the same location that the TGP is looking at, thats it. You still need to tell the maverick to then lock on to the target so you still need to press TMS up short with MAV as SOI for it to lock on to a target (Given that you are within locking range roughly 6nm?)

I made it left windows home. But I havent used those keys in over a year... manual start up is sooooo much better, and faster. I can get ready in 5 minutes.

I just got the pedals for rudder control, but you could use it I guess. I use the friction slider on the throttle as zoom instead. Works like a charm for gun runs.
