I love ED and all that, and I understand there is a lot under their belt right now... but... they'd better be building a goddamn star ship enterprise that we can use on Nevada that comes with it because they are over a year behind schedule...

The RWR failed to sound out all types of missile launches for me... Not sure whats going on with that either.

One thing that happens very often on the HUD of the A-10 is the marking on the side that shows you the currently selected waypoint or steerpoint that's off to the side is wrongly placed to show you the shortest route to waypoint. What I mean is that lets say I'm facing North, and my waypoint is 100 degrees to my right (so South East), in my understanding, the icon on the HUD should be latched to the RIGHT side of the HUD, indicating that the shortest turn to my waypoint would be to turn the aircraft to the right 100 degrees. However this is not so, a lot of times, this waypoint on the HUD will appear on the LEFT side making me do a much longer turn to my currently selected waypoint... I have seen this happen with waypoints up to 90 degrees or even less on multiple servers and missions. I have since started to use my TAD to confirm exactly where the waypoints are and make sure I am turning to the shortest turn to waypoint instead of relying on the HUD symbol. I just want to make sure if this is a bug or this is a funky feature based on some other perquisite.

It would, but imagine the strain it would cause...

Radio communication menu Problem (Auto)!
ralfidude replied to fs2004's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yeah, the radios are f****d. I cannot even change payload anymore because as soon as I hit ANY radio command, it just automatically chooses to ask tower for clearance to taxi and take off as my only options, and it wont get off that until I take off... -
Ok this is a two-fold question: So I just played a mission in DCS WORLD and came up on a BS moment, where at 26 thousand feet I tried taking out a boat. Mission name is the Bay i believe. Well, I get engaged in the middle of dropping the GBU and the kill is apparently by a BUK site SA-11. We killed ALL the radars down there, and there was one SAM vehicle left with the missiles on top, but no radar. From my experience in this situation, it should have been rendered useless without the radar support vehicles, at least that's what DCS A-10 always taught us. 1. Is it possible for that vehicle to lock and shoot at airborne targets without the radars?? I did hear that certain SAMS have the visual firing mode with a scope without the use of a radar but that its used in close range because its missing radar support, but I didnt think they would be able to shoot at 26 thousand feet with it... With the radar, I completely understand. In anycase, I later figured out that the Sa-11 was probably being controlled by a player. I went back there with the A10 to kill him and saw he was hauling ass outside the AO and just engaging everything in the area as he moved. After finding him, fired 2 mavericks, both of which missed. He continued to fire at me and I jinked every one of his missiles. Game crashed and I went to check the track to see how in gods name BOTH my mavericks missed him ( I know that it has a 80% chance of actually hitting but two in a row is shady) but the track is not playing. Its giving me the option to play the mission by choosing a plane to enter. 2. Whats going on there? Or was that a server specific thing with the track?

Hey, I am almost done with the video for the mission. It took us a while to get it done for various reasons, but it looks damn good. Il be posting it on the video section, but Il post a link here for it. End of the week perhaps?

What A Pain In The Well thank you anyway kind sir!

Hey, when I create a new set of waypoints and put my knob (giggidy) to mission, and I scroll through them, I always forget where I need to look to find out their coordinates. The CDU does not display them as i flip through the different waypoints that I'v inputted. Is it in a different CDU settings page?

Linebacker and me flying on a not so serious day.

Well actually... playing with sims like Project Reality and ARMA, I have learned that sitting behind objects like that is the BEST way to kill aircraft. It will render you useless in that one part of your field of view, but if comms are good between you and your mates, you will know when hes gonna pass by, and you can just WHOOP THEIR ASS. Kinda like this, but not exactly (the beginning part where my gunner takes out the BlackHawks trying to land in cap radius, this is PR for BF2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3Sgzx7K9eA&feature=g-upl

Hey if you find it, please post where it is in the manual, I get this from time to time too in hilly areas, it would be cool to fix it, plus its something new to learn and/or set up during manual start up!! Hehe. Quick question though, with one of those options selected, if you were to be on plain level ground, will the reticule behave correctly as we are used to it now?
-
Can you elaborate?
-
not really I learned to just do it the hard way, look through the TGP and find the bastards. Later on you can also do it yourself by getting yourself shot at so you can visually see the rocket motor of the missile and you will know where hes at, but then you need to dodge it too hehe. Other option is to do the above, but have a buddy take the fall for you while you look for the launches and attack them as they shoot.

taxiing should have a little tiny bit of drift, i know that in planes like the cessna and things like that due to the prop spinning, the plane wants to naturally turn in a certain direction. But it shouldnt be that bad at low speeds.

Not sure if this has been shown before but I just saw this online, apparently A2A also made a model for this, wanted to know if DCS or A2A is better, or similar to the point there is no difference (Aside from playing on DCS world and such). Just to be clear, Im not making this out as a competition, I am just curious as to the level of detail. ABove everything else though, this video can be used as a very very very very very nice instructional tool for the DCS product. It was VERY well made... If tutorials for DCS were made like this instead of the hands on training (Which Iv heard has received quite a bit of negative amount of comments) I think the sim would benefit greatly. I still miss Wags's voice in the tutorials haahhaha. cUOmJzxoaCA&feature=related

Im trying to use my guns on any target I find if the zone allows for it, ie: No AA threat SAM wise, but AAA can kiss my ass, il still go guns blazing.

No he meant this:

Reason for why its being released later as a addon? Because it is being remapped with a slightly different engine to look better, just in case you were wondering.
-
Are you talking about real life or DCS? Because in DCS that is certainly not true... Yes, there does seem to be degregation in picking up targets in bad climate, I agree, but I have yet to come across a single situation in my years of flying the DCS A10C where my Maverick is ready to fire the moment I am well within operational range. It always takes a while for it to pick up the blindingly hot piping target. I will do some more tests with the K version, but i see absolutely NO change what so ever in it's target range within the sim.

How do we communicate with each other?
ralfidude replied to Svend_Dellepude's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Sorry I should have clarified a bit. What I meant was that TS is the way to go and leaving comms with just that instead of asking to integrate communucations directly through the game itself. I was more so reffering to our clan hosting Project Reality which is a Battlefied 2 Mod, and there is a completely different server just dedicated for the VOIP system used in that game. If it goes down, which does happen, then it requires a reboot and maintenance that is outside of the actual game server itself. In short, it's a nightmare when the head admins who have box control are not around and when the hosting companies have no way of helping. hahah. Thats all.
