I thought that tacan just showed your bearing and range to target, its ILS that has the HSI bars doesnt it?

Honestly it's more of an issue of time on my part. I can be on and play for a little bit or do some video editing, but i have had experience with making maps for other games, and I learned long ago back then, that it's just not my forte and not my thing. I tend to make things over complicated. But yes, the main objective here is to throw out some ideas to people making maps right now. Perhaps you might be stuck on what to do, or everything HAS been done and you want to make something interesting, well this would certainly be a superb idea to try out. The thing is to make it so that it is not centered around dogfighting each other. Just a brief couple of moments here or there that might require you to. This keeps things on the edge, with making sure you are really safe around you. I must have been pissing joy after a map where I took out a lot of enemy defenses and as I headed back home I get a missile warning. Break hard right and dive with chaff/flare, get slightly hit where my systems are now degraded, but still flying. I take a look behind me to find an A-10 on my 6 diving straight down at me. I pull a manouver where he overshoots me with his speed, and now the hunter becomes the hunted. I whack him with my Aim-9 and now seriously need to get back to base. But what's this? A new challenger has appeared. Off of my 9 I see an A-10 coming right at me, so I bank left and go head on with him. Pop my breaks a few seconds before the merge and we go into a classic dogfight, with the only exception that I am damaged quite a bit. After a few loops, i manage to gun him down, and now SERIOUSLY need to get home. However right below me I spot a KA-50 flying under me back home, and well.. I do have this one AIM-9 left... so that shark never made it to it's final destination. I RTB with the widest grin on my face. THAT alone was the best round I have ever had by myself online (without my usually wingmen on TS with me). The damn track was all messed up as they usually are if they are long so I could never make a movie out of it. But all of this really happened, and ever since then my buddies and me would DIE to have that kind of unexpected action. Your primary objective is to still be an A-10, seek and destroy targets. Your secondary objective is to watch your six for those types of engagements. It's a challenge, and we love a challenge. So I just thought Id put this out there, if anybody is interested in doing something like that, go for it, we would support you 110%

Are you talking about the different gun reticules available for the gun? Because thats HUD as SOI, select guns with master arm, then DMS right to scroll through the different symbology.

Quite a few of us have this request of mission makers that we have wanted to ask of for a while. Since we will not see the next DCS jet for quite a while from now, we really are missing out on the aspect of a-10 dogfighting. However we are aware that from time to time there are a few servers out there hosting dogfight only servers, which are awesome but they only exercise that aspect of it. What we are really looking forward to is to see more maps where there is an air to air threat. Ka-50s are too easy of a pray as are all other choppers, but we always miss out on migs. It would be nice to have some regular a-10 missions where after a certain waypoint is complete, triggers an air threat. Nothing too ridicolous since we all know the a-10 is definitely not built or designed for such a thing, but something that will make a hogs hands sweat. Alternatively, we also wondered about having more red vs blue. There are very few servers hosting such maps. Then the ones that do have them, have the red doing their missions hundreds of miles away from blue's missions, and the two a-10s never engage in a brief dogfight against each other. What we always talk about is having a map where blue has a couple of different armor columns that advance to a certain waypoint and the blue a10s need to clear the way and escort them, and the reds have the same mission. Red a-10s would have the russian paint job as well. Mission completion depends on the hogs and ka-50s ability to destroy certain waypoint threats and keep enemy hogs off them, as well as help your side by trying to take down the opposite sides columns that are advancing as well. I know there are a few issues concerning this map mode, but i am sure map makers can find ways around some of them. Little things like that would be much more exciting, a lot more fun, and require a lot more coordination, and I just wanted to come on here and give you guys a nudge about it. We cant create maps, but if we could, we would. I know there are a lot of talented map makers out there, I am sure you can come up with some scenarios that will make this a reality! PS: But for the love of god, please make each hogs own ID different and not 1-1. A big thank you from the guys at Hardcoregamingclan for all the work you all have put in to this game with your custom maps so far!

Instead of creating a new thread for each new video, I will just update this thread will all my DCS videos I want to share. The newest ones will be at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

Not that i know of, though Eddie might come on here and blow us all away with some info we have never heard of, or rather I am hoping he will :) My gun gets disabled a lot when getting hit, then you can't do a darn thing. You know if its hit because where it should say your gun amount (on the DSMS and HUD) there are a bunch of XXXXXXX on that data field instead. It, doesnt deter me from continuing though :) like here:

To be honest, I have had that same issue, and it seems that my quick fix is to just re enter the coordinates again after you change the grid to 37t or 38t. There are a bunch of missions online running scripts that say the grid correctly, hopefully more map makers do the same.
-
gun jam, that is explained in the video I posted, its at the end of the section where i talk about inputting coordinates (grid 37t and 38t)

Changing speed and changing camera to manually look around will mess it up... its crappy...

Pretty much. On the TGP though you do not need to press TMS up short. When the TGP is SOI and you press TMS up short, you switch between area mode and Point mode. The difference is that in point mode the camera is tracking pixels i guess, so it can lock on to a vehicle. However this is bad in this sim because if you are trying to target something at a farp, there is a major glitch where the TGP tracks the farp as a whole. So the TGP will snap to the middle of the FARP and will not let you select the vehicle or location you want. So in those instances, or instances where the camera wont lock itself to a stationary vehicle, you can just use AREA mode. Its the same exact thing but it just does not go looking for anything to track like a vehicle, it wont snap on to anything, just the ground. Now as for the TMS up LONG command, that is the command you use to set a SPI. Its the same for some other systems. For example, you can make your HUD SOI, and if you use the cursor, you have the little box to move around (TD box i think?), so you can actually move that box around on the hud, and then TMS up LONG to set a SPI there. Another way is through the TAD. JTAC send you info? No problem red triangle, select it with tms up short, then TMS up LONG and BAM its ur new SPI now. You can do this with all the other things that are on the tad too. So any waypoint, markpoint, bullseye and friendly thats there, all you do it select it with tms up short first, then tms up long. If you select a wingman or some flight guy from the tad, you will actually get a little box on the HUD that shows you exactly where they are. Its awesome, i have it shown in this video here:
-
Sotosev, honestly, its easy as pie. Jtac gives you the target he wants you to hit, after he sends you data, you have a flashing red triangle. Make TAD SOI Use the cursor to slew on top of the red triangle, then TMS up Short to select it, then TMS up LONG to make it your SPI. (Sometimes just TMS up long works just fine). Switch over to your TGP making it SOI, press CHina hat foreward long. THere are your targets. Profit?

Just watch the video dude.

I was only teasing. I do hope the strain it carries over certain areas you look at will be reduced. 40-50 FPS looking west, to south, to east, but 17 looking north is an example ahhaha. Cant wait on nevada though!
-
Oh sweet!! I did not know you can set markpoints through the TAD!! Awesome!! Yeah when I meant to say those things, I meant anything that is there thats not part of the map, you can hook it, so including the jtac triangle. I basically meant that you cannot hook empty space on the map and make it your spi, unless as eddie just said, you make a markpoint first, totally awesome!!
-
PS: You cannot mark a spot on the TAD with the hook and make it your SPI. It sucks, but yeah.. So only if something is there, like a waypoint, a friendly, markpoint, objective, etc n so forth.

Oh heck yes. Linebacker is currently underway to trying to be an F16 pilot himself. Over this weekend was his birthday and he took part in a training exercise against the Canadians while sitting in the backseat of the F16. They let him take control as they went into the merge then the pilot took over for the guns kill. 20 seconds it lasted haha. Says that the 8 Gs he pulled hurt, but they hurt so good. So while he keeps on training and learning, he passes the knowledge on to me, and we try to make things as real as possible, without going overboard to the extent of sharing information that is not needed. So when you hear us talk, it's all information that we actually use to fly and understand it, hence why so natural. I love it. He loves it. It's like an orgy in the air.
-
How will it impact the sim? Well you know how you need a 4.0GHz processor to play this game above 35FPS average as it is right now? Well by the nevada update, you will need a 6Ghz processor for the same results. :)

Ladies and Gentleman, Ralfidude presents =STP= Dragon as mission creator! Added to description. :)

Linebacker and myself attacking an airfield and it's surroundings. Having a wingman sure helps.

This game in multiplayer already makes my super computer go well below 20 FPS while looking at certain bearings. No thank you!
-
It's a shame that mission designers create multiple a-10 slots in a MP game and they are all Group 1 Own 1. And nobody responds to requests to change their own IDs.... Then the TAD is really screwed up, and you are never really sure if there is a friendly really there firing.... or if you need to click your red heels three times and eject.
-
Ok confirmed about GPS guided bombs. They go alignment degraded after flying to a waypoint for about 2-3 minutes straight. A left and right turn quickly realigned them and were ready to drop by the time I got to my drop zone. Thank you! Also, thank you for the update on the damage.
-
Understood Blue, I will give that a shot. On a totally unrelated note, I was always wondering about how damage is calculated in DCS. For example, I sometimes have to do 2 gun runs on a tank, because at 0.7nm it is not enough to kill one while firing a burst for half a second to a second. I know people have said that a 0.5nm range from a high angle and back or side armor is much better, but those 50 cals really fu*k you up at that range. Anyway, the point is, if i lets say strafe a tank quite a bit but it doesnt go down, does its health stay low, or it doesnt count? Because even on my second pass I still have to hold down the trigger for a bit to kill it, where by my first gun run it should have gone down in health so much that by my second run a half second burst would have been enough.

Wich is a good CMS program forcountermeasures?
ralfidude replied to LcSummers's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thats why i run in semi mode with program D. Covers both chaff and flares, and I can manually pop those bad asses if I do get a igla launch or require to drop some chaff n flares as I go in for an attack. Anything afterwards is up to the computer. I rarely, RARELY EVER see chaff and flare do any good what so ever. It all comes down to manouvering at the right time. Perhaps 1 in 50 chance of flares or chaff actually making the missile be any less accurate than a surgeons blade. At least its not as bad as Flaming Cliffs missile evasion. After years of playing, I still cannot beat missiles after doing everything right. Its just almost impossible. The Ka-50s have it easy... I sometimes watch those missiles in f6 mode, and the KA 50 is just hovering there, and the missile misses... And im like O_o. Are you serious? I wish I was that invisible to them hahaha. -
I do hope there are more a10 slots over ka50 slots. I dont understand why there are like 15 KA slots and only 5 a10 slots in certain servers. We have much much much more hog pilots over the sharks, so i urge all map makers to keep that in mind when making slots for MP. Il check this mission out though.
