  1. Video from the HOGs view of what happened: hfdj7H7ZwVs
  2. My ass still hurts from that loiter
  3. Flanker, The Red sides SU-25Ts will have SEAD weapons available to them?
  4. Callsign: ralfidude Coalition: Blue Airbase: Batumi Aircraft: A-10C 1,000 points if I get a maverick kill on a bandit :)
  5. MWS will detect all missile launches (if the parameters are right), so yes, it will let you know of a SA-10 launch if it's not from 50 miles away. TORs engage mavericks, yes, so you need to fire two in quick succession to kill it, or with a buddy from two different spots.
  6. In 6 pages I'm sure we have answered this question to death have we not?
  7. What P Funk said. A combat pilot told me that it is ridiculously difficult for tv screens to show you what you would really see with a human eye several thousand feet in the air. When the conditions are good, you are really able to make things out from a good distance away. Computers just can't replicate that right now. I concur with what he said. When we did Air Combat USA, I had absolutely no trouble keeping track of my target even when we were separated by a few thousand feet unlike Flaming Cliffs or DCS. Even more so, when my instructor was pointing things out on the ground when we were 8 thousand feet in the air it was as clear as daylight. You just can't get that in DCS. There are the occasional fuzzy images you see based on cloud shadows on the ground and some other obstructions here or there, but generally speaking, you can make out objects and vehicles without much effort at that height.
  8. ogg is a media file, so you play it with a regular windows media player. I use windows media player classic. It's a simplified version of windows media which includes A LOT of different codecs that are not available by default on the regular windows media.
  9. it's pretty much outdated, but yea, you use it essentially as a way to mark your position of the targeting pod in AA mode. I believe you would need to press it down 5-8 clicks in order for it to be actually centered around where your AA TGP is pointing at. VERY useful for that.
  10. I do this, it's not the most effective, but it gets the job done in a timely fashion. Practice is your friend, but luck is even better:
  11. I heard that even though the tanker was invincible, somehow some of you STILL managed to kill yourselves by crashing into the ground, thereby proving that literally anything is possible. Congrats!
  12. So much luck is involved though
  13. You guys are making it too hard on yourselves, I just do this:
  14. There are two markers. One is a dotted marker, this will point you to something that you have hooked on to (Can't remember if it also shows you your currently designated SPI or not), while the solid marker is the one that shows you where your steerpoint is. So the dotted one looks like this if you skip to 0:30 At about 1:13 you see two things, the dotted one is showing you what I have hooked on the TAD (which I think is also what you have selected as your SPI otherwise), allthe while the currently selected waypoint is shown on the bottom right as a solid box with a line through it. It's like that because the box is there in front of us, but if it was off the nose like somewhere to the left or right, then you would have a line coming out from the same place the dotted line is (but solid) pointing towards the currently selected waypoint. You can see it happen exactly at 1:18. So at 1:18 you are seeing what I have hooked to the left (the aricraft, or target zone, wtvr) and the solid line to the right telling me that is where my currently selected waypoint is. If you want to go home, then all you need to do is scroll through your waypoints and select the home waypoint, which is usually wpt 1.
  15. :) We would get an entire flightline to do this however this only affects about 40% of the people, and none of my other guys are affected by it. It would be one hell of a messy dogfight... So totally would want to do that though.
  16. We potentially could do it, but we wouldn't be able to do it in the air. I can walk you through the steps on where the handles are and all that jazz but I might as well just write it up instead. Most of the emergency stuff is covered already in some youtube tutorial or other. As for Hydraulics, here is the deal: You have 2 hydraulic systems, so if you lose the: LEFT Hydraulics then you lose - Flaps - Nosewheel steering - Gear - Wheel breaks - Anti-skid - Hydraulic control of the left elevator and rudder actuators - Dual channel pitch and yaw SAS If you lose your RIGHT hydraulic system, then you lose: - Slats - Air refuel slipway and nozzle hatch rollers - Speed Breaks - Right elevator and rudder actuators - Dual channel pitch and yaw SAS Knowing that stuff is pretty important with an engine out, as an engine out will cause hydraulics to fail for that side. This way you can prepare for a landing and not be surprised that you suddenly can't drop your gear or what not.
  17. OK, here is what MAY be going wrong and is usually a messy topic to talk about since it's a bit wonky how it works. OK, let's say on your A-10 you have two weapons, your GBU-12's and then rockets. You went into your profile, and you did everything right, saved it, done. You did this while on the ground, or in the air shortly after take off, then you switched to something else, like NAV, or to your guns, or to your rockets, whatever. Basically you clicked out of the DSMS. Now after you did your thang you said, OK time to go and select my GBU 12's!!! Yey! IF you select your GBU-12s MANUALLY by pressing the OSBs to select them from the DSMS, then what you are ACTUALLY doing is selecting the DEFAULT profile for that weapon. It doesn't matter if you have a profile saved for it. Just by manually selecting the weapon you have entered the default profile. Hence why the bomb will be in CCIP and no auto lase when you select it. Sooooo... what do we do? We actually need to select our GBU-12's with our HOTAS commands. So with the DSMS page up on the left MFD (just to see what's going on), you are going to make your HUD SOI. Then you have to make sure you are in either CCIP or CCRP mode (Not in NAV or GUNS mode), and then you can press DMS left or right. By doing so, you will scroll through your different weapon profiles, you will have 2 of them, your rockets and your GBU-12's. Whatever profile you saved for your GBU-12s will be there with the auto laze, once you select your GBU-12s this way. It's a bit of a pain in the arse, but that's what you have to do. Obviously though, if you go into your DSMS, and make the GBU-12 profile, press save and then leave it there, meaning you still have the GBU 12's selected, then you should be able to just proceed from there. So basically, you are flying along, you see that you need to drop a GBU-12, so you quickly go into your DSMS, and set up the profile for it and then right after you press save, the GBU-12s should be still selected with it's profile now engaged. Hope this helped. PS: Lase time of 15 seconds is the general average most A-10C DCS users use without fail.
  18. Those goddamn SA-15s... Did a SEAD run against those bastards, waited till he shot at me, then immediately fired 2 missiles in quick succession, and went defensive. He managed to shoot me down from Rmax, and then my two missiles out of the sky. Extreme doesn't even begin to describe it.
  19. Ah shit, the hydraulics, yeah. Well, if we do an emergency procedures tutorial then I can explain then, but it's VERY important information about the Hydraulics in emergency situations that you should know about.
  20. The startup shouldnt require anything from the joystick, its mainly the mouse and clicking the options in the A-10. I will have the keyboard shortcuts for you in terms of engine operation off to idle and the pinky switch on the throttle.
  21. So the second mission cannot be completed as is due to the AI driving then correct? I have this massive URGE to just make a good A-10 video... damn it ED....
