I know some people that play DCS like to go all out & do a military type of approach flying trainers first & getting checked off etc., that said, I don’t agree with this approach at least for me. I think It ruins the fun! I served in the USCG & don’t want to “serve” again in a game! To me that just ruins the fun factor! I’m a private pilot as well so I understand navigation & a lot of concepts that can apply in the game. I think if you want to purchase a full module you should & skip the trainers! You might as well learn the aircraft your going to fly in the game. Learning the ins & outs in a trainer would be time you could’ve spent learning the F18 or whatever jet you want to purchase. There are some really good Free mods available like the A4 that are pretty complex to learn that you might consider with fully clickable cockpits! Just have fun, that’s what it’s all about in my opinion! Sure there’s complicated systems you will need to get the hang of and learn but that’s what makes it fun. Learning things in a trainer while what you really want is to learn the F16 or whatever airframe you have in your sights would ruin some of the fun I think. So pick out whatever aircraft you like & just go for it & enjoy yourself! In the long run we aren’t putting our lives on the line, we’re not going to fly the real thing, feel G forces or anything that real fighter pilots will do, so the trainer isn’t necessary. In real life they do this because it’s a extremely complicated & your going to fly a multimillion dollar aircraft while putting your neck on the line as well as others. They slowly increase the amount of information, the complicated systems & piloting skills needed to fly in real life & if they mess up they put others as well as themselves at risk & can destroy millions of dollars worth of equipment etc. So they learn procedures, piloting skills like navigation, communication, emergency procedures and slowly increase this as they get checked off. It’s understandable why they do this. But in DCS we don’t have to do these things since it’s just a game/ simulator & a really good one. I would suggest downloading Chucks Guide for whatever airframe you decide on and read it as well as the manual. The guides he makes are top notch & have step by step instructions from starting the aircraft to weapons deployment, really great stuff! I use them alll the time! Hope this helped a little bit & let us know what aircraft you decide to purchase, there’s a ton of people here that can help you along your way. YouTube also has tons of tutorials that can help. Most of all, just have Fun!

Hmm not sure I’ve seen that. Is it in the VR menu in DCS or in the Oculas software?
-
It shows up as a white dot in the coms menus in game but doesn’t appear in the cockpit afterwards & works fine in the main game menus & mission builder etc. I’d just like to get it to work in the cockpit instead of the controllers. Unless I’m missing something all along. But I can’t seem to see it in the cockpit

Hey guys sorry if this is a dumb question but I need some help. I have a Quest 2 running DCS in VR & works pretty well but I’m having difficulty getting the mouse to work for cockpit input instead of the Q2 controllers. It works with the communications menus & the main DCS menses but then disappears in the cockpit. Is there a setting I need to set to get this to work? I find using the Q2 controllers to be a little difficult sometimes. The mouse is a standard USB mouse. Thanks!!

I sure hope they release the patch today or tomorrow with the Mosquito! Really looking forward to the twin engine WWII action! Every patch has been adding more & more awesomeness to an already awesome simulator!!

Hey, Thank you very much. These look fantastic. However, how the heck do I install them? Where exactly do I put them? Thanks again. E

Yeah not a fan of how they look but they do seem to work. It would be nice to have the option of on or off in the arming screen!

I usually get the newsletter but for some reason I didn’t get this one as well. I looked in the junk forlder and nothing was there. I also checked my settings in my account here and it says I’m signed up, so not sure what the problem is. If I don’t get the next one I’ll have to ask Someone to look into it. Hopefully it was just an oversight or some strange glitch because I’ve received all the others!

The map is really nice, small, but very nice. I absolutely Love the water and textures they used for the coral reefs and rocks. It’s very convincing and looks very real. The further out to sea you go the deeper blue it gets, unless there’s a reef or something below. Going to be some blue water fights in this terrain! Can’t wait to see what people make with this.

This is a fantastic map! The level of detail is really to notch & I can’t wait to see the improvements you guys are making! So far they look great! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making this simulation the best & for sharing the work in progress you guys have done so far.

Thanks for the reply. I have the A4 & a few other aircraft mods, nothing crazy. But a lot of the aircraft are not showing up. Like if I have a CAP mission the M-2000c isn’t there along with other aircraft. I don’t understand what’s happening.

Wondering if anyone knows why this is happening in the editor. I have USA selected as country but when I go to add a aircraft some of the modules are not showing up. Like the F16, Mirage 2000 & mod aircraft as well. Any idea what’s going on? Thank you…

Awesome! Thx I appreciate it...

Where do we find the documentation for these new campaigns? I’ve tried looking in my saved games directory but don’t see them. Thanks, E

Hello, I was wondering where the document files are located for these campaigns? I’ve looked in my Saved Games directory and can’t seem to locate them. Thank You, E

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the help! This happened to be what was left of a convoy that had scattered. I found the old crater pits from the pilot before me but took forever to find the leftover vehicles. I think the reference points and ground observations is a really great idea and something I’ll have to work on. It’s definitely an art form, so to say! Thanks again...E

I’m using my Track IR and a 15” screen on my laptop. I don’t have a large screen yet and fly using my TM Warthog HOTAS with the zoom function mapped to the slider on the throttle. I need to learn how to make waypoints or mark points because flying around without them and using the F10 map is extremely hard! I fly right over them or very close at 8,000 ft or maybe higher and can’t seem to locate them zoomed in with the HOTAS. Very frustrating! I am a disabled veteran and cannot sit at a desk because of back pain, so I have my laptop and everything setup on my bed and fly laying/ sitting up in bed. I know it’s not the best setup but it’s the only way I can do it with my back. Thanks...

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new the the A10 and DCS and have been flying some online stuff with some friends. What’s the best way to find or spot ground targets like vehicles? I fly right over them and can’t seen to find them. What’s the deal? Thanks, E

Problem with views in RIO seat & 2 more questions plz!
Ebphoto replied to Ebphoto's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Thank you, yes that’s what I meant. I thought that was the radar screen as well but I’m new to this! Thanks for clearing it up though and I’ll look up how to get it shown. So the A model is only available to people that are beta testers? Or is this part of a beta build that can be downloaded. I’m guessing it’s the first one though! thanks again, E -
Hello, Im a total newb with the F14 so forgive me please if this is something really obvious & I’m overlooking it. I have the View keys programmed to the hat rotary switch on my Logitech Extreme 3D & it works well while in the pilot position and outside views. The problem happens when I hit the #2 key to go into the RIO seat. I cannot look around with it. Also, I’m playing from a MSI laptop and don’t use a standard keyboard so a lot of the keys I have to map differently to work in my keyboard. I did just order a Track IR yesterday so hopefully this will help a lot and I’ll probably bite the bullet here soon and get a Thrustmaster HOTAS. In the mean time what do I have to do to be able to look around in the RIO seat? I’d like to learn how to use everything but can’t look around... I also can’t figure out how to get the radar screen on the Pilots MFD. How is that done? I’ve seen it on YouTube videos but can’t figure it out. I think I’ve looked at the key napping a thousand times but can’t find it. Last question, how do you download the new F14A model? I’d like to try it out but can’t figure out how to download it. Thank you in advance and again I apologize if these are newb questions. Thanks, Eric

Thank you! I’ll have to play around with it to get this down! Lots of stuff to learn! Thank you for the help.

Absolutely! I copied the F18 profile over to the F16 knowing I’d have to change a few things but this drove me crazy! BTW do you happen to know what the lock target key is or what it’s called on the F16. I keep thinking it’s Enter but doesn’t seem to be it. Not sure what it’s called so don’t know what to look for. Keep thinking of my Falcon 3.0 days. That was a lamb compared to this! Thx

Thanks, that was it. I looked everywhere for that but couldnt find it. Spelled it out in the search didnt think of WPN. Oh well thanks appreciate the help..

Hello, Ive been out of the combat sim world for a few years and trying to get back into it again. I have been having good success with the F18, F14, A10 but for some reason I cannot get the bombs to drop in the F16! I have the master arm to ON, CCIP, prof 1 but no matter what I do I cannot get them to drop. Even in the tutorial mission I can’t get them to drop. Even if I hit the space key, nothing happens! I’ve tried copying my joystick file from the other jets that work to the f16 and then change a few things and nothing I do works! I know I must be missing something, can someone please help? I would really appreciate it. Sorry if this is a really basic newb thing. I’ve checked around and didn’t see anything so I’m at a loss. I have a very basic setup, just my MSI laptop with a mouse and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. That’s pretty much it. Everything works great in the other jets doing the same type of CCIP bombing. thank you, E
