I had thought about developing my own, but I decided it was better to not reinvent the wheel. Until GR mods are released the F-15EX will have AIM-120C-5 (stock) and C-7. The F-15C(U) will have access to AIM-120D, but you will have to have the Grinnelli F-22 mod installed for the AIM-120D, otherwise it will just be the C-5 and C-7 like the F-15EX. Due to the workaround I have implemented to allow the outer wing pylons on the F-15EX to be implemented, I cannot add the AIM-120D from the F-22 mod just by referencing it in the LUA file, and doing anything else to add that missile would probably create a situation similar to the ADFX-01 mod. I am also considering an F-15CX mod (unbuilt single seat version of the F-15EX). This would use the F-15C external model, possibly with optional CFTs, and would have access to the AMBER racks and quad missile carriage on the wings (no outer wing hardpoints though, or else I'm stuck with the same issue I had to work around for the EX). F-15C(U) has entered developmental testing! AIM-120C-7, AIM-120D, and Legion Pod implemented. The F-15C(U) will not replace the F-15C, it will add in just like a typical free mod, and reference the F-15C cockpit, avionics, and external model. The only differences from the F-15C official module will be in weapons capability. Improved AIM-120 and AIM-9X variants will replace the older AIM-7 and AIM-9 missiles, and the Legion pod will be available on the centerline pylon as well.

Unless I knew more about the configuration of that model, I can't say for sure whether I could easily edit it to put the visors down. I don't think I want to mess with that anyway, it's not that important.
-
Well I would have to buy the model for that, which I may just end up doing at some point.
-
The problem is that if such a texture template exists, I haven't been able to find it.
-
At some point I hope to replace the F-15E model with either this or something similar. This is the "quick" solution, since it removes the need to modify and retexture an existing F-15E model.

What are you talking about? The CFTs do not add nearly as much drag as drop tanks. They don't add much surface area to the Eagle. Yes when loaded with bombs they do, but most of the extra drag goes away when the bombs are gone. The pylons do impose some extra drag, but it shouldn't be too much extra. Nothing like the wing pylons on the Super Hornet, those are angled out away from the aircraft and impose a huge drag penalty, especially with weapons attached. Are you sure they are Strike Eagles? They could be C/D models. I don't understand why USAF would remove them. The Strike Eagle loses most of its bomb hard points and quite a bit of fuel capacity without them.
-
The CFTs are shown on all photos I can find of the F-15EX, they are also exist in the model, just not as removable payloads.
-
Not on the E, the whole point of having them is to give the F-15E extra range without having to carry fuel tanks on the pylons. The CFTs don't impose much of a drag penalty.
-
The CFTs are never removed from the F-15E, I imagine the same goes for the EX. Since I'm at the absolute limit for pylons on the F-15EX anyway, that will not be an option. I may or may not add CFTs to the modernized F-15C, and if I do they will be removable, but I'm not sure that's possible either.

F-15EX Mod
Spino replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I will post future updates in this forum: -
For those interested I will continue to post on my modern F-15 mods here. It is fairly well-known that I have made an F-15EX mod that is currently available for download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3324876/ I hope to add a custom cockpit and external model to this mod at some point (it currently uses the F-15C cockpit and F-15E external model). What is not well known yet is that I intend to make a modernized F-15C mod, since the F-15C in its current state in DCS has some glaring limitations. Lack of AIM-9X capability is one of the main issues and one that I intend to partially correct, but I also want to implement some additional features that do not require loadout mods. This mod will if possible be IC-compliant, though like most add-on aircraft mods it will not be usable in most multiplayer servers. Development photos of the modernized F-15C to follow, for now here are a couple of my F-15EX mod: Edit: F-15EX V1.6 available here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328343/ Don't forget to check out my YouTube channel for videos on the F-15 mods and other DCS-related content: https://www.youtube.com/@SpinosSimulations

F-15EX Mod
Spino replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Well that depends. The model that I'm currently using is the F-15E model that comes with DCS, so it's not super accurate (that's why I had to add those wing pylons). I would love to replace it with a real F-15EX model, but there are a couple of roadblocks to that right now. I barely know how to texture things, and have never done animations before. I have an F-15E model that I have started to modify to be more like an F-15EX, but it has no textures. Making it look good would take months for someone who knows what to do, longer for me. My other option would be to purchase an existing 3D model of the F-15EX that has textures, so all I have to do is animations and export. Doing so would make this mod considerably more expensive to me than a high-fidelity module for DCS, and that isn't an option for me right now. If people are interested in making contributions, I would get the model I need and update the mod accordingly, but that's up to the community. I am up to my ears in trouble with this cockpit and that didn't even cost me anything! -

Not sure if it'll be 22, 20 is the max you can have unless there is an AMBER on the centerline. nullHopefully progress on the cockpit. Now if only I can get the front panels textured... -

I'm assuming that the HCSM is similar to the AARGM in appearance, and not like the AARGM-ER. I can easily rename it. -

I may implement AARGM-ER as well. My AIM-260 model is a bit shabby, but it will do for now. Main thing with the longer range missiles is fixing the code, range is too low at the moment. -

I will add AIM-260 when GR makes that mod available. The HARM variant I currently have implemented is a WIP AGM-88E AARGM. I have my own AIM-260 version already implemented, but it is very WIP. -
F-15EX Mod
Spino replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Well I have seen photos here and there of things like this, and since the F-15EX is supposed to carry outsized AAMs, I might give this some more thought. -
F-15EX Mod

With all the different photos out there getting this right is going to be a nightmare. I'm probably going to go for something that looks close unless I can find a clear solution. I am working with an F-15D cockpit that someone was gracious enough to share with me, and basically all I have to do (I think) is redo the main instrument panel (already started, as you can clearly see here). Then comes re-texturing... -

I'm not totally sure if it does TBH. I see pictures with and without. For simplicity I will probably make it with a HUD, since the F-15C avionics have a HUD and I can't easily change that without going full custom avionics (at least as far as I'm aware). -

Spino replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I actually ran into an FC3 limitation trying to add the outer wing pylons. The F-15C avionics only support 11 or 12, but you need 13 for the EX at a minimum. I got around it by splitting the upper wing pylons, so what used to be the outer missile rails is now the attachment point for the outer wing weapons. This means that you can only carry one type of weapon on each wing station though, so no more AMRAAM and AIM-9X combo on the rails. As for the cockpit, I had started on it, but decided it would be easier to work from an existing model, so now I am in the process of re-doing the main instrument panels of an F-15D cockpit to make the F-15EX pit. It's coming along well, so far (famous last words...), but I am afraid the whole cockpit may have to be re-textured once the model is finished. It may not be 100% accurate, but I hope to get it fairly close. Also it will NOT be clickable, at least not any time in the forseeable future. The EX pit isn't exactly close to the Strike Eagle pit, it has a panoramic main display like the F-35 instead of the 3 MFDs the Strike eagle has. Also it seems to have more of an F-15C style HUD instead of the wide-angle RASTER HUD that the F-15E has. -

Not worth showing at the moment, I may have to start all over again. -
