@Geschirre Looks like the Florida, Oregon, California, and Louisiana ANG will be getting the F-15EX if you need livery ideas, but I'd wait until the Razbam F-15E is released so I can swap the model over.
-
I have also been adding some eye candy to the F-15EX as part of a mini-update, version 1.67. This stuff will require you to have the Gripen mod and Currenthill's B-21 mod installed to show up, but for AI F-15EXs it provides some extra air to ground firepower! Version 1.67 is right around the corner and will also include working AIM-120Ds.

Avro Arrow Model (could use some help)
Spino replied to SomethingAncient's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Arrow was a late 50s design, so it probably didn't have any RHAW gear. That was only integrated on US military aircraft after they started encountering Soviet-built SAMs in the '60s over Cuba and more notably Vietnam. The Arrow was unfortunately done for long before then. -
F/A-18E Super Hornet Mod (FC3)

That's one way of doing it. -
Oh well, it happens @Geschirre. Not your fault USAF decided to take the F-15s out of Kadena.

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

Loving the USS Fitzgerald progress! Any plans for the vertical-launch version of LRASM for the Arleigh Burke ships? -
For livery makers, here's a couple of squadrons that may get equipped with the F-15EX, both ANG Full article here: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/no-conformal-fuel-tanks-for-first-f-15ex-operational-units

I may be making some progress on the AIM-260 implementation! I have been dealing with a weird issue where the missile warhead explodes on launch, destroying the aircraft. I think I have a solution for that, but it limits the number of AIM-260s that can be carried, no more than 8 currently. Also in order to carry 8 AIM-260s, you cannot have more than a single fuel tank, since the workaround I have come up with utilizes the wing fuel tank pylons.

[FICTIONAL] F-29A Kingcobra II WIP

The MiG-29SMT has an enlarged dorsal spine and a completely different cockpit, so I would need 3D models for that too. -
First and second posts updated. Based on the latest information I have, the current USAF F-15C fleet was upgraded under the "Golden Eagle" program, so that's what I'll be referring to it as from here on. The Golden Eagle mod will be available first, while I plan to package the F-15J in with the F-2 mod that is currently available on the forums.
-
There is no F-16C(U) mod that I am working on. F-15C Upgraded variants (F-15C Golden Eagle, F-15J, F-15CI) are in the works, but it will take some time to sort out the cockpit situation with them all. In other news, I have added the AIM-260 to the F-15EX, although the implementation is not complete. So far it passes separation tests without issue though.
-
Well when I tried to add them to the F-15EX, they exploded on rail launch. I'll look into it more later. What about releasing that skin @Geschirre?
-
Thanks @Nightstorm. I'll see what I can do about adding the AIM-260s to the F-15EX, it may require a modification of your A2A_Missiles.lua, because I would need to create custom loadouts for the AIM-260 to make everything look right. Also I probably will need to adjust the attachment point position based on what Geschirre posted. Hopefully they don't explode on launch like the 120Ds do!

[FICTIONAL] F-29A Kingcobra II WIP

Because I don't have a MiG-35 model to work with. High quality models cost money that I don't have right now. -
I'm not a fan of the model, the textures look okay. The fins look extremely fat to me. TBH I didn't know that the AIM-260 had been added to the F-22 enhancement mod. Once RL stuff settles down a bit I will start working on the next iteration of the F-15EX, and I might include the 260 from the F-22 Enhancement Mod if Nightstorm is okay with it and I can get it working. The AIM-120Ds from the F-22 Enhancement Mod have been all screwy when I tried to add them to the F-15EX, so we'll see.

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
Spino replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
One other ship that would be nice to have is a Flight I Arleigh Burke. There's a decent free 3D model of it here in case the Admiral is interested. https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/11-low-poly-us-navy-ddg-51-uss-arleigh-burke-17be09c31c6047e4a5969b68c29eba03 Edit: Didn't realize that the Admiral is working on USS Fitzgerald (a Flight I AB) when I posted this. -
It was actually supposed to have eight AIM-4 Falcons or three AAM-N-3 Sparrow II (AIM-7B) missiles. The AIM-4s could be either radar or IR guided, the Sparrow II was supposed to be an active radar missile. If it had actually worked, the Sparrow II would probably have been the world's first FOX-3, but the technology of the time didn't allow for a radar small enough to fit in the nose of the AIM-7 (this was the late '50s, the AIM-47 Falcon and AIM-54 Phoenix that came a decade later were much larger missiles partly due to the need for a thick missile body to fit the active radar seeker). It wouldn't be until the 1980s that active radar seekers got small enough to fit in an AIM-7 sized package. Personally I would like to see the AIM-4 and AIM-7B as options for the Arrow. Originally it was supposed to be armed with CARDE Velvet Glove missiles, but these were cancelled before they got very far, and had the Arrow seen service it would have ended up with the Falcons and maybe later AIM-7 variants (AIM-7C/D/E). Here's what the Sparrow II (AIM-7B) looked like, as near as I can tell at least.

Here's another possibility, one that if constructed correctly might not require too much investment on ED's part under the circumstances. Yes, a new free aircraft would be nice, but I think it has already been established that making a full fidelity aircraft and giving it to the player base for free makes absolutely no sense for ED. And who really wants another free FC3-style aircraft? Who says there can't be a middle ground between the high-fidelity aircraft with all unclassified systems fully modeled, and the low fidelity aircraft with simplified systems and no clickable cockpit? What if there was a "medium-fidelity" aircraft offered for free, that could do a bit of air to ground and air to air, and had a partially clickable cockpit (major systems like radar and basic engine/flight controls)? I personally think the F-16A Block 5 or Block 10 would be the best candidate for this, for several reasons that I'll explain below, but before everyone starts saying that a free F-16 would basically kill all sales of the F-16C Viper module, please hear me out. 1. The early block F-16As had limited capabilities in both the air-to-air and air-to-ground arenas. I'm not referring to dogfighting, the F-16 has always been an excellent dogfighting aircraft, but early on it had no beyond visual range capability and usually carried AAMs that weren't top of the line (AIM-9P more specifically). Outside of unguided bombs/rockets its only air to ground capability came in the form of the TV/IR guided variants of the AGM-65 and possibly also AGM-45 Shrikes (not sure if the F-16 ever carried those). Bottom line is that an early block F-16A had some precision air to ground capability, but not really anything more than what the A-10A currently has in DCS, and even less than the Su-25T (no laser-guided weapons without buddy lasing and maybe not even anti-ship missiles). It's a little bigger slice of the pie than the F-117 suggested earlier in this thread, but still not full-spectrum like the F-16C and F/A-18. 2. The F-16A's flight model could potentially be adjusted from the existing F-16C FM. The F-16A was only slightly more nimble than the C from what I understand (due to its lighter weight), though some other characteristics like acceleration would have to be tuned as well to account for the F100 engine (considerably less push than the F-110-129 in the F-16C). 3. The early F-16s had a pretty basic radar, so in theory for a medium-fidelity aircraft with systems complexity somewhere in between FC3 and full fidelity it shouldn't be too difficult or time consuming to model. It's not anywhere near as simple as copy/paste the F-16C and change a few values to do this, but for a medium level of detail it might not involve too much time/resources. As far as I know, it would basically boil down to new cockpit/external models (animations, textures, roughmets, etc.), a simplified but probably new-build avionics set, and an adjusted version of the F-16C EFM. I might be completely wrong on the impact an aircraft like this would have on ED's revenue and/or the effort it would take to develop a "medium-fidelity" module even with the possibility of re-using a thing or two from an existing module. There might be quite a few people who would settle for a free medium-fidelity F-16A and fly nothing else, especially given the popularity of the F-16C, so this idea may not hold any water, but it's something to think about.
