  1. Very cool, I always wondered why the sun seems to rise and set at the same time when I would set a different season. Any good reasons why the ME wouldn't do this automatically for the selected season?
  2. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91660&highlight=Combined+arms These are outdated but will still work, albeit a little bit differently in this version of world ...The tank sights are not zeroed to 1000m but have the default boresight (so it's offering no advantage except for looks at the moment, IMHO of course :)) I'm in the process of updating them and figuring out why they behave differently in this version of world (for instance, the tank main gun sight is invisible while in wide FOV. That was not the case when I made them)
  3. Check your controls, especially the axis controls. DCS will automatically bind controls to really weird axes
  4. :D Drives me crazy!
  5. Try refueling while smoking a cigarette...you'll look like joe dirt in no time
  6. If my math is right, which it probably isn't, a GAU-8 projectile would be about 500 FPS faster than "normal" at the muzzle (relative to the static target of course) with the A10 shooting at 350 knots. That's a GIANT increase in energy in terms of terminal/external ballistics.
  7. Some reference images: A disappointingly grainy image of lightning TGP point locking part of a vehicle (unlike the above images, where the entire vehicle is being tracked)
  8. Okay, did my homework and it looks like a feature. The box in point track will expand and contract based on the size of the contrast it's locked onto. Sometimes that's the entire outline of a vehicle and sometimes it's a smaller aspect (like a vehicle's window or tire or anywhere there is distinct contrast). After playing around in the sim tonight and comparing it too some RL lightning TGP footage it (the TGP in DCS) looks like it handles point tracking in a much more realistic way... Aesthetically anyway NICE!:yay:
  9. Peter, I can confirm that the shaders don't seem to work in my up to date DCS world install. Really nice mod BTW! Hope you can get the blurry foreground effect eventually
  10. Glad to hear it's working ...You'd think this wouldn't be an issue with an Admin account. When will the windows developers learn? :D
  11. Did you try right clicking the updater .exe and running as Admin? Did you do the same when you installed DCS world? A total shot in the dark on my part, but I'm pretty sure Win7 is pretty quirky with Admin rights (even if your account is Admin)
  12. I believe you also need to check "permit crash RCVR" in the options menu, or in the mission editor for the specific mission for this to work
  13. check out this thread, you can shop around for the right squad. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34062
  14. It could also just be a bug, IIRC the DCS manual states that this behavior (tracking box expanding over target) will only be observed in A-A mode
  15. Can't confirm this as accurate for the suite/tgp moddeled in DCS but from having seen a lot of pod footage it seems like the point track box does expand and contract a bit to conform to the contrast in the image that it's following. I didn't think it expanded to actually box the entire tracked object. You see this most often in TGP footage when a bomb explodes on a point tracked object. The box expands, contracts and jumps around (with the cross hair staying static) a lot trying to keep up with the image contrast it had locked that has been obscured by smoke. Sometimes this results in the pod actually skewing. If its intentional, I think it's awesome!
  16. I've made a new version of this mod with all tank sights zeroed at 1000M. With AP rounds I've found that this value will get you on target inside of 2000M first or second shot. 1.2.1 changed the file structure a bit so I have to tweak these again
  17. BlueRidgeDx, seeker boresight refers to both adjusting the boresight position of the Maverick in the HUD and to adjusting the wagon wheel symbol on the HUD to properly line up with the seeker video?
  18. Bingo, a day of misunderstandings :)
  19. It's a really good one. My personal favorite moment: "I've got a CCIP INVALID with BDU-33DB" "Are you in hot elevation?" "Hot..." "...Verify how I do that again" "...Should read 700" Dude enters 2
  20. Absolutely right, which makes anything but a hypothetical conversation on the matter somewhat moot. So what you were saying is "If you're simulating a 1970ies A10 DCS version then maybe the FC3 a10 would have an advantage (in lack of workload), up to date Charlie sensor and avionics suites would smoke the FC3 version in a pipe." ...Couldn't agree with my amended version more :) Is that more or less what you meant?
  21. At least you didn't think it was an aim-9
  22. @GGTharos and EtherealN You guys are both correct. I guess in the end it boils down to what people fly the sim for. I love the details... As a gamer I get far more satisfaction flying the same mission in DCS than I do in FC2. I don't mean to suggest that one is more valid than the other. It's just personal taste ...I guess it might actually be a little hard=realistic for me. And the realism is what I fly the sim for. There's no doubt that my SA has suffered as a result...too busy setting up my TAAF and a secondary flight plan :)
  23. Good tip, I've actually held on to my nevada folder tooth and nail...lol I was thinking for the newer folks. Probably won't happen though, what with the new and improved nevada on the horizon
