  1. Afaik a shaped charge warhead would be far more effective (by weight/warhead size) than a conventional high explosive warhead when it comes to armor penitration. A shaped charge basically concentrates the explosive energy to a single point, and can cut through an amazing amount of armor
  2. *Find your DCS folder, probably in: Whatever drive you installed on/program files/eagle dynamics/DCS world *Once you're there search for ed_sound.dll (I'd tell you where to look but I can't remember and I'm away from the PC) *Save the one you find as a back up incase something goes wrong *Drag in the appropriate file from Wags in place of the old one (depends on 32 bit or 64 bit OS) *enjoy :) ...hope this works, some one will undoubtedly remember the exact file location
  3. That's a great way to explain it! Especially if you try walking around and viewing it from different perspectives
  4. Direwolf, The TGP yardstick has nothing to do with the north indication. It's the actual aiming crosshair of the Pod. One of the four distinct segments. You'll notice that as you zoom out the number to the right increases, the opposite for zooming in obviously. If my description here wasn't clear I'll explain on TS3 later tonight Rabbit
  5. You should post a track. Fly a short mission and recreate the issue, when you exit the mission there is an option to save track in the debriefing window. Save it, then post it in this thread (use the attachment icon that looks like a paper clip) that will save some time :)
  6. On the warning autopilot vmu: my second guess would be that the PAC (which is basically autopilot afaik) is exceeding its control authority. But someone who knows better will hopefully chime in. As to your last question: yes Mavs can be used in conjunction with the TGP in the sense that you can hand off a Mav to TGP coordinates. There are no laser guided Mavs for the a10 in dcs (I dont think they're carried real world either). To hand off a target from the TGP, make TGP SOI, aim at intended target, set SPI with TGP (TMS up long with TGP as SOI), pull up MAV display, China Hat fwrd long to slave sensors to SPI. MAV seeker will now be looking at whatever the pod was looking at, all you'll have to do after that is TMS up to lock the MAV
  7. That's not accompanied by a "CCIP INVALID" message on the HUD is it?
  8. Cool camera work!
  9. Thanks for putting in the work! TARS is clutch, I'm tired of listening to everyone I fly with :D
  10. Anything that requires precise time coordination. The kind of feature that can be great but in the context of flying online it's rarely nessicarry (of course that depends on the type of people you fly with :D)
  11. DCS: Black Shark
  12. Mine too, lol. I have a hard enough time reading the altimeter :smartass: Interesting formula though, fortunately for me (unless I don't understand the k-14) I won't need it. Set a known wingspan, then adjust the reticle to match the wingspan as you see it from the pit and presto! There's your range. Right?
  13. I haven't had much luck with it either. As to why I haven't posted about it: I think that approximating the range adjustment (which I think is linked to a twist grip throttle on the actual bird) seems quite cumbersome without a twist grip... I'm getting better with time, but it's rare that I'm able to stay glued onto someones six while constantly readjusting to target wingspan accurately. It's damn tough! ^^^Obviously the above is probably somewhat unique to my skill level (Or lack of skill level :D)
  14. Dude, so good... was a pleasure flying it with you! A nice change of pace :D
  15. Brevity is key after all :D
  16. I've seen that one. If memory serves me right, I just persisted and it eventually worked. Weird indeed
  17. Thanks, that helps a lot!
  18. Quoted out of context for truth :D Nice read!
  19. The field of view explanation is pretty compelling. I've always felt that the DCS "world" seems a little bit too small, especially the buildings, trees and the landscape (The vehicles have always felt :tomato: right). It's very subtle, but after a few years flying the sim I've noticed it more and more. I have no doubt that the math is right in the sim, but something just "feels" weird I genrally zoom in a little from the default fov (after that annoying zoom out at mission start) I wonder if that accounts for my perception issue?
  20. эти прицелы только выглядят по-разному.Не имеют никакого реального преимущества. так не должно быть проблемой
  21. хотели бы поделиться этой модификации с другой стороны на форуме. Извините за плохой русский ... redHUD.tga blueHUD.tga default_grid_AAA CROWS.tga default_grid_AAA BRADLEY.tga Я не знаю, как объяснить, как использовать это с русского языка. возможно, кто-то может помочь? стрелковый прицел модификация.zip
  22. two .50" gatling guns+500 pound bombs...Yes please :P
  23. Also, I need to give credit where it's due: Steel beasts pro (and the users kind enough to post screenshots of it in action) The tank sights are based on theirs. The artwork is original but is essentially traced from screenshots of that sim.
  24. Fixed a few things with the sights and updated the first post. I mainly adjusted the horizontal boresight for the reticles, it's been tough as the sights for some weapons are quite off-axis from the bore. trying to find a good balance. Also had to give our eastern bloc brethren some love... redHUD.tga
  25. Thanks and I'll definitely play around with that. Thanks! In the meantime if anyone would like to request a specific reticle (real or fictional), just post up a photo of it and I'll see what I can do. ...off to work, damn :( :D
